Hello, new to the thread and haven’t got time right now to go through everything (but will do soon). I just came to say she’s the most insufferable human being on the app and I’m genuinely confused how she continued to get work when she’s barely grown her audience in the last 2 years and absolutely none of her followers engage with her content?

I worked in PR for a while and I have a relatively small Instagram account with 40,000 followers, it’s more for fun than anything else (I had a daughter and it totally derailed my Instagram career put it that way). I have had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting em not once, not twice, but three times, and my god… it’s clear as day to any human with a brain she it’s utterly in love with herself and is very much a ‘do you know who I am?!’ Type girl, she was extremely rude to restaurant staff at one point and 2 girls had to apologise to the waitress at the end of the meal.

She will not talk to anyone with a follower count less than hers, as soon as someone with a bigger following comes along she is up their arse straight away. She was SO rude to my friend then when she found out who she was (she had around 300k at the time), she hung onto her like baggage on a donkey

She is a short, poisonous little rat, more orange than Sunny Delight and I can only imagine the colour of her bedsheets when she wakes up in the morning

So right here right now, Em Shel is on another freebie gifted stay at a pub hotel and has borrowed her MUMs dog to make her life look interesting. The whole thing is getting distasteful as maybe Em has noticed the pandemic and hospitality industry has been on its knees yet she’s continues to take take take with free hotel stays and meals. Of course she tips generously - ten pounds!! six of her last 9 posts on insta are ads. And most for free meals, or food or drink related. Starting to get a joke really. But as Emma Barnett of BBC 4 Woman’s hour said, Em is living her best life, eating pizza and ice cream and we are all just jealous of her fake laughing and seated dancing for the camera. I mean our lives are just that of bitter old men sitting in a dressing gown, scowling at the screen as we vent venom and fury at innocent young Em Sheldon who at the grand age of 27 is giggling eating pizza for insta and finds it soooo interesting that you can lower your loan to value ratio by making home improvements to add value to your property. Poor Em, she’s just a young girl you know…all she does is have fun on insta and push a few aff links here and there.

of course the main news from thread 9 was Em Sheldon being the star of a government committee looking at influencer culture. Her star performance generated national headlines, news appearances and much much laughter. Someone should really nominate her for an Oscar for the most hard done by woe is me performance. Our so called law makers, were meant to be learning about the impact of influencer culture but Shel hijacked her event to air her grievance about her tattle thread without naming her tattle thread.

Key call outs from this performance included

• saying middle aged women with children and good jobs hate her
• shes just a young innocent girl
• influencers get more hate than any other profession
• she hasn’t done anything wrong
• she gets hate for just existing
• when asked about contractual issues with brands, admitted she makes it up as she goes along
• she works 20 hours a day
• says people shouldnt be allowed to report influencers to the ASA
• says the ASA needs regulating

The media sensing a ripe opportunity to pit women against women, used village idiot Sheldons comments to produce countless headlines about older women bullying and trolling. I bet they couldn’t believe their luck. Em had to say the media had twisted her words, before going on to repeat that it’s women that troll her. The sheer bollocks of this was laid bare when news outlets reported her comments and the vast majority of negative comments under those articles were from MEN.
Not content with causing a misogynistic shit storm, Shel went back to the media to report the additional attention received since her committee appearance, repeating the same lies that she didn’t mean to say it’s middle aged women but it is middle aged women that talk about her

Now you’d think all this talk of trolling would be serious but actually most of the comments about her committee appearance were generic. The majority of people seemingly having had enough of influencers and influencer culture and after 18 months of sheer misery and restrictions from COVID the last thing people need to hear is a bloody influencer moaning. Someone claiming to be a paediatric nurse left a comment on her insta, saying Shel was a joke claiming she works 20 hours a day and that people in the nhs work harder. Of course, Em Sheldon didn’t like that truth bomb and went to town replying with multiple comments, but no one wants to talk about influencers being hateful, aggressive woman hating sad sacks. Funny that.

Anyway for the avoidance of doubt, especially for Emma Barnett (or her researchers). There is no trolling on tattle. It’s moderated. This is a fucking gossip site where we talk about influencers who sell fake phoney lifestyles to push products and services on unsuspecting audiences. Maybe look into your poster girl Em Sheldon a bit more and you’ll find the real issues:

• Lies constantly. Pretends her mums dog is hers (and yes it has been called ugly - so fucking what, you cant bully a dog fgs. It’s called an opinion).
• uses affiliate links daily (probably 10+ on average) to generate income by pushing products including items she doesnt even own meaning the audience she has is constantly being advertised too which is damaging and harmful
• buys and pushes fast fashion with no concern for the environment
• Had free fillers from a clinic, claimed this was a clinic she reserched but the fact she has free fillers will have influenced her decision to use that clinic which is irresponsible to promote to young women
• has been in trouble with the ASA with an informal warning given to her for non disclosure of an ad
• once flew to the Maldives on holiday, to fly back to the U.K. for a photo shoot for 24 hours, to fly back to the Maldives. If that’s not a prime example of someone not giving a fuck about the environment or being wasteful I don’t know what is. Probably one of most gross things I’ve seen and she bragged about it.
• Filters and photoshops
• has chocolate bars and plastic tat ubered to her flat because she can’t be bothered to go out, despite living in central London with supermarkets nearby Because she doesn’t give a fuck about waste or the environment
• has doxxed someone
• Accepts every freebie going, her flat is stuffed full of free alcohol, beauty and skincare, clothes. You’ll see hampers chucked in her bit of outdoor space off her lounge. You’ll see vlog with her shoving unwanted items in bin bags to go to the rubbish. She will never not accept the pr in the first place because she needs stuff to put on insta so she can use aff links. It’s gross
• lied about having a Tesla test drive, and claimed they approached her.
• pretends she has a team and office when it’s her mum and brother and her mums house (why??)
• the step fathers rangey is a family car (again why lie ?)

so yeah if she’s your poster girl go for it! Round of applause for the media types who can’t see the problematic person before their own eyes. Meanwhile, we will continue here as we are doing nothing wrong, it’s not illegal to discuss a person who puts their life on display and noone here is sending her direct messages. So suck on that

I came across this gremlin in some of the other bizzaro freaks vlogs I started to hate watch in disbelief (josie, leonora) and, my gosh what the hell is THAT?!?

I saw her vlog title HE FLEW ME TO NYC, expecting some romantic, first class trip, with Cartier/Tiffany prowls and boy did I click baited

Who is this woman??? why is she talking like that???I want to slap her sooo hard with that frying vocal voice that comes out of her gremlin mouth, she sounds disgusting. Next up what the hell is up with hairdo??? I thought she is well in her forties, only to find out she just turned 30??? WHY? Can she make the parting in the middle to look more feminine and fresh? I’ve been a long time lurker of this thread as someone who knows Emma from growing up in the same area. I didn’t know her well but your observations all seem very accurate. Hope you don’t mind me sharing my two cents.

In The Times it says: “Sheldon started out as a lifestyle blogger in 2012, sharing tips and recommendations about everything from books to beaches. She joined Instagram in 2015 and now has nearly 120,000 followers”

That’s not true. Firstly she didn’t join Instagram in 2015… she followed me on that same account in 2011 but one day unfollowed me (presumably because I served no purpose to her/ she wanted to improve her following to follower ratio!) yet I still follow her, and it’s 100% the same account although maybe she’s deleted pre-2015 photos. Saying she joined Instagram in 2015 makes it seem like her account took off at a faster rate than it did.

When she first followed me, I didn’t know who she was but could see she was from a school in my area and she supposedly knew people that I knew. After she added my entire friendship circle it became obvious she was trying to suck up to onto all the “popular” cliques in the area. At this point she had about 1000 followers and came across as desperate and it seems as though her strategy hasn’t changed a lot as she does this tactic with other influencers now.

She seemed to have a lot of boy and friendship drama too, in hindsight seemed a bit insecure with a victim mentality. She hated girls who liked the boys she liked. Very paranoid.

I also remember when she started her blog back when it was called adayinthelifeofems and I was gobsmacked to see her win the Cosmo newcomer award because all that blog was, was her googling photos of clothes in a certain colour and pasting them to the post like a mood board. It was dire.

I think when it comes to Emma there’s so much ignorance, and I truly think she’s in such an echo chamber that she’s completely deluded about why people have a problem with the way she conducts herself on Instagram, the harm she may cause young girls, why her engagement is low etc. She’s clearly been coddled for a long time and has a weird codependent relationship with her family who enable the way she is.

It’s sad because I don’t think she’s a bad person but has gone down a certain path and has very few people around her who can pull her out of this downward spiral. The things she has put out in the press this week and the way she’s presented herself have made me cringe and I think surely her family or Matt must see this too, but she’s perhaps too fragile to handle it, and so the vicious cycle continues.

I honestly think she seems quite unhappy and lost, I really don’t wish any negativity towards her and I hope she turns her career around. I just wish she would take a break from all this, try and read some self improvement books, be able listen to people sincerely giving her constructive advice, treat it like most employees would treat a performance review, and try to be better.

Sorry for the long post. I’ve debated sending this for a long time because I don’t want to be cruel to her, but in a way I’m hoping she does read this and see that she’s at the epicentre of all her problems but there are steps she can take to improve things for herself.

The only reason she has any followers is down to her desperation. Never have I ever seen anyone spam so many popular accounts with comments just to get her name out there.

She can travel as much as she wants and pretend like she has some dream life but the reality is she has no real friends, a freeloading boyfriend who looks like he can't stand her most of the time, and spends most of her life begging for free stuff.

Sorry but this doesn’t add up. She went out for dinner that night after the flight to a pub (on Xmas eve) and hosted a Christmas Day at her flat. If your bf had genuinely been in a life/death situation on a plane would you not have sacked that all off?? So he could rest for starters and if it was that traumatic, you’d just be like no sorry not doing Christmas now.
I’m sorry but this lad has had near death calls on loads of flights now, it’s getting hard to believe it’s true.

The other thing is planes ‘squawk’ emergency codes when they have medical emergencies on board. Now given she’s described it as traumatic and implied Matt nearly died, it’s funny that no plane on the date they flew home from nyc to London put out such a code…. (You can look these things up Em ) And if her story is true why wouldn’t the plane notify air traffic with the emergency code in case emergency landing was needed or ambulance on arrival?

As for the ‘we both feel 18’ comment. Firstly ick. Grow the f up, both of you. If I had a man say that to me when he’s nearly 30 he’d be out the door. Secondly it shows their pathetic baby mindset acting like marriage is some huge pressure when it’s a legal act of commitment that, for women especially, can guarantee some important rights.
