Episode 2

I'm 6 months pregnant and barbecue Jackie traumatised me 😂 especially when shauna touched her bump and said "she wants us to" that was a bit much for my delicate disposition these days 😂 apparently it gets even more fucked up after this. I wonder if any of them will get sick from eating Jackie? Can't remember how cannibalism sickness works but someone could end up dying maybe one of the minor characters

The present day storylines are really boring me this season.
The only one I thought might be interesting was Shauna and her daughter but now the tension between them is resolved it’s also boring. I don’t really care about Lottie’s cult, whatever misty is doing or Taissa spiralling in the present. Show more of the crash!

And a great character study of Misty/Ricci in The Cut:

‘Misty, and Ricci’s portrayal of her, is uniquely chilling. Ricci dominated the ’90s with a dry, brutal wit and darkness, as exemplified in a more PG way by her turn as Wednesday Addams. As an adult actor, she gravitated toward darker, more difficult characters like those in Buffalo ’66, Prozac Nation, and Black Snake Moan. Yellowjackets, then, seems built for the intersection of her skills, graduating her to an expressive, terrifying performance that defies easy tropes. Misty’s fear factor, and Ricci’s skill in playing someone so complicated, is part of what makes the show so compelling.’

I have loved this series. But not sure there is enough to maintain another three as is the plan.
The identity of Pitt girl...meh...does it matter? We know who makes it to adulthood. What does it matter which of the others it is?
The only thing making the next series intriguing for me is Ben burning down the cabin and wondering where they will shelter.
What’s Van all about? She seemed really keen on the card game and sacrifice in the present day time line. Was weird how they all turned on Shauna. And Lottie saying the wilderness will be pleased with them now. How’s that going to play out? Why wasn’t it pleased then when travis died?
Personally I prefer the thought that it isn’t supernatural it’s just them going mad with hunger and isolation.
It’s going to be a long time before series three comes out, with the writers strike

She is fantastic and stands out amongst all the other actors.

Episode four was another corker. I love the rapport between Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis.

there is an official playlist 🥳

Plus in Jackie’s diary (Shaughna reads it at Jackie’s parents house) there are references to films etc which came out after they were rescued. Could be a continuity error but I suspect not… 🕵🏼‍♀️

so I was generally underwhelmed and I think unfortunately they’re not going to make it to 5 seasons as they say planned. HOWEVER Ben burning the cabin down with them locked inside truly shocked me. I just think overall season 2 lost its way a bit and the way they tried to wrap up the police/Shauna storyline was very clumsy and didn’t make sense really

Episode 1 has dropped. I’m going in…

Update: It’s good. However definitely giving Lost vibes. Sprawling narrative threads, clues that may be either crucial or meaningless, and the overall feeling that the writers are making it up as they go along. Such a shame. I wish it had been kept tight and capped at two or three seasons.
I think the writers said they had a full five (?? I think) season arc written out. I know it won’t be until the very end but I’m excited to see them get rescued and go back in to society

For the film The Road based on Cormac McCarthy’s book (amazing novel, distinctly average film) the baby cannibalism was shot but not included in the final cut as it was deemed too much. So yeah I think if being faithful to Pulitzer source material can’t justify it, I can’t see it in Yellowjackets.

I do think all of this sort of speculation is part of the show’s genius of both writing and execution - ie what was shown in the first episode and then doing weekly episode drops to allow time for word of mouth to spread and theories and will-they-won’t-they chat to percolate. Even the expansion of the Spotify playlist week on week - lots of nice little touches. It’s very well thought through.

Jeezo they're harder to get than toilet paper in the pandemic!
-So Shauna is in labour
Misty freaks out
-Travis attempts a blood sacrifice and cuts his hand, Lottie patches him up
-Shauna's not coping with the labour and passes out and has a very vivid dream where everyone's so happy and her baby boy is waiting and healthy but bizarrely also in this dream, Lottie is the one breastfeeding the baby ... And then the baby is gone and the team are feasting on it...
-That snaps her out of it and she wakes to find she lost the baby but she doesn't understand cause she can hear him cry but no one else does
-Present day Shauna and Callie are called to the cop shop to answer some questions which makes Jeff angry
-Present day Misty and Lottie reunite and Misty tells Lottie she joined so she can unbrainwash Nat but ends up wearing the purple get up and involving herself pretty well in the groups that Nat isn't even going to
-Natalie is blaming herself for Travis' death, Lisa tries to reason with her but she's not having it
-Lottie has gone back to the therapist to say that the visions are getting stronger and feels they're pointing her to something
-Misty phones Tai who's still with Van
As soon as they're told about Lottie they drive upstate to the compound, engaging in some uncomfortable conversation
-Tai phones Shauna to tell her what's going on but gets Jeff on her phone who's outside the cop shop waiting on her
-Matt's being a cocky arrogant asshole
-Shauna's not having it but then breaks down and admits the affair with Adam but says she didn't kill him and begs Matt to keep Callie out of it but Matt's not interested
-Kevin is interrogating Callie and she cries and says Matt took advantage of her and took her virginity all to get info on her mom
-Kevin doesn't believe her so Callie says they'll let the jury decide
-Jeff tells Shauna about what Tai told him about the compound and that Nat and Misty were already there and she tells him she admitted the affair, he gets upset and is even more upset when he finds her gun
-He tells her she's not alright and she needs to go to the compound
-All the girls reunite but Van seems stunned, frozen by the sight of Lottie in the distance staring into the water, when Lottie turns round she seems a bit perturbed as well
-Then we see an aerial view of the compound and the girls creepy symbol is carved into the ground.

And there we have it 😅

At the beginning the girl standing over the trap in the ground was pregnant and also wearing pink converse. I haven't seen Shauna in those trainers? So now thinking does Jackie get pregnant to Trev after they have sex?

I also think someone is already there. They lured them to the cabin with the mirror when they were at the lake.

We started watching this after watching TLOU and seeing Melanie Lynskey give an interview about it. We were hooked straight away, not a show I hear many people talk about? So underrated but it's a great show! I wish more people knew about it.
