Worst mistake you have made at work?

I was managing a new team and walking around talking to everyone at their desks. To make conversation I pointed to an elderly man’s picture of himself and (who I thought was his daughter) and commented it was a nice picture of him and his daughter . To which he replied it was his wife😂😂😂

recently a colleague confided in me that a woman in his new team had sent him a picture of herself in her underwear. Rather than confront her about it he went straight to her manager. As it turned out she sent it to him accidentally as he has the same name as her husband.

I volunteered at a charity shop and this sweet older couple came in looking for original editions of Harry Potter 1 and 2 for their “granddaughter”. I found a couple of copies in our stock room that said first edition and sold them for a couple of pounds. I only realised later that they were probably scouting the charity shops looking for first editions cos theyre so valuable 😭 I felt so guilty that I could’ve lost the shop so much money that I never told anyone and I still pray they were just reprints and not real first editions.

Not me but I work for a company that used to shred confidential paperwork for companies including banks

One woman called from a high street bank asking us to return a bag we’d picked up the previous day as it contained £40,000 and she’d given the driver the wrong bag

Why you would use the same bags for money and stuff for the bin is beyond me

Unfortunately the bag had already been taken to the shredding facility and turned into pulp

When I was young and infantile, I worked in a bank. Loads of stuff was still done by hand back then and I was sending a stopped cheque back to a lady called Mrs T Watt. I deliberately didn’t leave a space so the envelope said Mrs TWatt. She complained and I got a warning.

Worked at a car dealership and was trying to drive a brand new £30,000 car up onto the display ramps. Went a bit too far, the car went off the end of the ramps and I ended up smashing straight on top of a nice shiny £45,000 Merc. I think the repairs ended up being in excess of £20k but my bosses just laughed it off. Never trusted me to display cars again though haha

not exactly a work mistake as such, but when I was much younger I worked as a teachcing assistant in a high school abroad. Lots of the students added me on facebook and I put privacy settings so they could see very little. At some point FB obviously changed the settings. We were doing a lesson on alcohol and someone asked me if I drank. Before I could say anything someone piped up with "of course she does, have you seen her fb photos??" I was mortified, as soon as I got home I saw that as the settings had changed ALL of my photos (mostly drunken uni ones) were open to everyone

probably not my worst mistake but I came in this morning to a reply to an email I sent yesterday where I had put can't where I should have put can.

The person I am dealing with is an absolute a who has no intention of paying a debt and now with this typo he is even less likely to pay...Happy Thursday!
