I think another big appeal to a city like Paris is Disneyland. There's nowhere else like it in Europe or most of the world outside of the USA, as far as I know. People come to visit the historical (including royal) sights and will continue to do so even without a royal family. I wonder if royal tourism took a hit after the Queen died. She was famous throughout the world, so people visiting to learn about her would have been quite large.
