Actually, I think in this day and age it is men who should be wondering why women hate them so much, sure as a woman we need to be double vigilant. However, not all men are the devil

Yes because in my experience there are just as many mean bitches as there are mean bastards.
Unfortunately the brainwashed of today think all poor little women are suffering at the hands of misogynists. Hmm just reading Tattle tells me that there is no shortage of man hate.
Judge by individual's behaviour not by sex, colour, age or creed.
Yes, but why do 2 women a week on average get killed by partners, husbands, ex's.

I find a lot of these stories just go completely uncovered in the media or if they are, get buried/minimal attention.

This whole "equality" thing seems to gets dropped right quick when forced to confront the fact that women are just as capable of being monsters. Which should come as no surprise as we're all human and thus it stands to reason that not only men are capable of this shit.

This one from last year stuck with me: 'Evil' woman, 25, is jailed for life for choking her 'vulnerable' boyfriend, 53, to death following campaign of domestic abuse. The media largely ignored it. There were no protests or candlelit vigils or calls for curfew of women... no one gave a fuck.

I saw this linked on Reddit: Men Face 31% Greater Risk of Domestic Violence Than Women. I imagine the stats are much the same for the UK. I have read in the UK that reported domestic violence is split nearly equally at 60/40. Yes, I imagine a lot of suffering women don't report it but even more men don't. It ain't some "rare" occurrence and according to the stats female on male violence is much more likely to be lethal.

Women are also much more likely to get away with it and get softer sentencing.

I'd never defend a domestic abuser, male or female. The men deserved to be buried under the prison yard. In fact, they have to be segregated from other prisoners (hardly paragons of virtue themselves) as they'll be battered to hell for it. Yet, we some folks bang on that we live in a misogynistic society that condones men brutalising women?!

The best retort to that I ever read was this: "Ladies, when you scream 'help' who are you asking for it from? Men or women to show up?"

The biggest abuser in my life was my mum and as a lesbian I know just how abusive women can be. None of that changes the fact that our society is misogynistic and like the above poster said every woman has had scary experiences with men and its a lifelong thing, it doesn’t stop when you get older.

Today I was approached by a drunken middle aged man who aggressively told me I was a fat fuck but I did have big tits. He then proceeded to get in the face of me and my female colleague asking us what our issue was and behaving in a threatening manner. We did not engage with him but he wouldn’t go away so we went into a shop. He then waited outside and we had to take a detour to avoid him.
I’m 46 years old, it was 6pm, and I was wearing jeans and a jumper on my way home from work in a city centre. He was a total stranger who we didn’t even notice until he was kicking off at us. Yes I might be a ‘fat fuck with big tits’ but I don’t need to be told that by some random angry man.
So sorry you had to go through this.
Hope you are okay.
Women should not have to experience this!

“When this topic is approached all you really find is a lot of men jumping on the “women can be abusers too!” instead of men just admitting that yes, it’s a problem.”

Exactly this.
I dont thinkk any man would say there isnt a problem but when the thread title is why do men hate women its assumed all men hate women when in reality its not true - dont paint us all with the same brush, we arent all the same -

To be honest it didn’t bother me that much, I’m very experienced in dealing with hostile/aggressive people and quite frankly I couldn’t care less what this random angry man thinks of me. I was able to get away from the situation fairly easily. He scared my colleague though and I know many others would have been very frightened.

I just thought bloody hell this bullshit never ends does it? I’m closer to 50 than 40 and did nothing whatsoever to this bloke other than happening to be on the road he was walking down. Yes we know it’s not all men, we know women can be abusive too, but all women regardless of their age have to be aware of their surroundings and the people around them at all times thanks to pricks like this who think they are entitled to be abusive to women.

Men who hate women by Laura Bates is a book worth checking out on this subject.

Aren’t men responsible for 98% of violent sexual attacks? I’m not sure the statistics back up that ‘women are just as capable of being monsters’.
Abuse doesn't just have to be sexual. Can be physical, a chap I worked with had a kitchen knife plunged into his neck by his girfriend and she ended up getting 8 years for it. There's also mental abuse but men tend to keep quiet about that and just "man up".

Men will never blame a man when they can shift the blame to a woman
Honestly I think that until we see dramatic societal and cultural changes, the best thing a woman can do to protect herself is to be wary of men as a general policy and not trust them unless she knows them well.
And even then women often aren’t safe 😔. 1 in 4 will experience DV in their lifetimes…
Over half of all cases of femicide in the UK are women who have been murdered by their own partners as well.

As good a place as any to drop this: Croydon mum says son was ‘too embarrassed’ to leave abusive girlfriend who killed him

From the UK ManKind Initiative (helping men escape domestic abuse), Statistics on Male Victims of Domestic Abuse: The Office for National Statistics figures show every year that one in the three victims of domestic abuse are male equating to 757,000 men (1.561m women).

I've read it claimed on Tattle that male domestic abuse is very rare. No it ain't. Yes, more women are victims but the figures for men are far from insignificant. I've never got why this has to be treated like some sort of zero sum game, like if it's conceded men are on the receiving end too, it somehow diminishes women's experience or undermines their support.

I don't think making a factual statement (you are a men's rights activist on an admittedly goady thread) is comparable to neo Nazism. I'm not trying to argue with you, but I would appreciate not being compared to a Nazi. What did I do to upset you? I didn't say you had to stop posting or that it couldn't be a discussion. I merely stated a fact.
To be honest, I didn't know you were directing your comment at me. I wasn't directing my comment specifically at you.

But since I hit a nerve, I'm not sure I fully appreciate what's funny about trying to bring a little balance to a one-sided topic with references, or defend one half of the human race from sweeping generalisations. I could've just grabbed my pitchfork and went along with it but I disagreed. Heck, now I'm some sort of activist!

And no, I'm afraid I'm not an activist, that's not a fact. I've never marched in parades for men's rights or demonstrated or anything like that. I have tried to acquaint myself with the other side of the argument and generally try to do that as best I can in most topics. If trying to be fair minded is worthy of amusement, makes me then an oddity, then so be it.

I wouldn't bother, they're itching for an argument in this thread. Just leave them to it.

I don't know if men are responsible for 98% of violent sexual attacks as it’s impossible to arrive at a percentage by sex of the offender from the official ONS stats I’ve seen thus far, as sex of the offender isn’t listed, just sex of the victim.

It’s also worth noting that under current UK legislation, women can’t commit rape so I wouldn’t expect there to be any female representation in that category.

UK stats on sexual assault and rape by sex of the offender seem hard to come by from official sources. Wikipedia has an article on female on male rape and notes it’s an under-researched subject. The US figures on sexual victimisation aren’t insignificant, though. See also Rape by gender.

I don’t want to plagiarise someone else’s work so will link to it: Men are 57% of all rape victims and women are most of their rapists, per CDC data. Again, that’s US data, not UK.

UK data that is available on same-sex partner abuse suggest women are very capable of being sexual monsters.

However, I wouldn’t argue that men would be responsible for the vast majority of sexual violence, both on women and other men, despite incidents like the recently reported Police search for woman after man 'sexually assaulted on London Underground'.
