What’s your irrational fear?

I also completely hate jewellery on men 🤣 that's more of just an ick feeling though rather than fear. When I see a bloke wearing a gold or silver chain 🤮 my poor fella has been banished from ever wearing one. Poor sod 🤣
Completely agree on this. I think it just looks so chavvy. A wedding ring and a watch is all I like on a man. My husband wears his wedding ring and watch, and his late Dad's wedding ring on his other hand, and that's it.

Deep bodies of water freak me out.. Also very odd is when my times up that I won't actually be dead il be trapped in a coffin ( fear of small spaces I hate any doors shut) or a incinerator alive .

Beyond irrational but being alone in the house & taking a shower. After washing my face, I reach out for the towel with my eyes closed as you do...only someone hands the towel to me. I don’t think I’ve ever open my eyes again!
I’m exactly the same I can’t have a shower when home alone! I feel like someone could come in the house and I wouldn’t hear them 😂

water! I can’t go on a boat the thought of something happening and me having to be in the water and not knowing what’s in there

*Wet leaves stuck to shoes (actually feel like vomming even writing that sentence! 🤮) I once had to change train carriages as a guy got on with them on his shoes and sat opposite me 😄
*I'm so glad I'm not the only one that hates baked beans. That gick like 'sauce' is just grim.
*MRI machines. Just being enclosed in that metal tube is terrifying.
*The embalming process completely freaks me out.
*Spiders. Especially their nests, spiders that jump and tarantulas 😱
*Your feet hanging out the end of the bed without the duvet covering them. Also beds that aren't a divan where someone could be lurking underneath, grab your ankles and pull you under the bed. I think I need to stop watching horror films 🤣🙈

My car steering wheel coming away in my hands, or the brakes failing while travelling 69mph on the M6
A snake appearing from the bottom of the toilet and biting me on the a while doing the biz.
Opening curtains and finding a bloke's face staring right back at me through the window!

MRIs are so overwhelming, the space and sounds just made me freeze

Think I’m a bit odd, I had to have an MRI and I really enjoyed the half an hour lie down 😄
keep finding wood lice in my house, I pretty much see them as pets now, don’t know where they keep getting in!

Whatever you do, don't google trypophobia!
Hahahaha.. I don't "get" this one. What is it about it that freaks people out??

Stairs with gaps between them. I just can’t 😭🙈
Oooh this is a good one. I am scared I will slip through the gap...LOL.

1. Lighters... I am terrified about burning my fingers (totally possible) and it freaks me out. I have to use the bbq style lighter for candles instead.

2. Going down an escalator while pulling a suitcase behind me. I CAN'T DO IT. One time my husband and I were travelling and at the airport and I froze. He had no idea what was going on as we hadn't been in that situation before 😂. I am terrified I will pull the suitcase on and it will push me down the escalator 😂. I have to take the lift instead. I am okay going up with it though.

You need to put the suitcase on first, then you get on behind it.

Tell me about your weird and wonderful fears! And other stuff that gives you a physical reaction (ie something that makes you cover your eyes or ears - more than an annoyance)

My main one is holes, especially clusters of them (think that’s quite a common one)

I also have this weird one where I get a bit freaked out when I get to the end of a tissue box 😂 I think it comes from having had a spider come out of one once. I have to flatten the box immediately.

Other things that give me a physical reaction are people brushing their teeth (I can’t look, even at myself). It’s the froth.

And people rubbing their fingers together or wiping fingers on a dry tissue. Makes me shudder.

(I was sure there was a thread about fears but I couldn’t find it in the search box so sorry if I’m duplicating)
Stinging nettles - I mean not many people like them because they sting you when touched - but I have an irrational fear of them. The look of them, they look aggressive with their serrated leaves, they smell horrible and of course their sting.

Of course it does stem from being pushed into them when I was a child. I can still remember the feel of them, which makes me shudder. 🙄😩

I also hate seeing empty swimming pools. They just look so cavernous and scary.

Yes, I know it’s a bit weird. 🤣

Volcanoes. I am so scared of lava and also that pyroclastic flow stuff.
It’s extra weird because I find them fascinating so I love learning about them and watching documentaries and things but they do absolutely terrify me. I cant go on holiday near an active volcano, even though I’d really, really like to.
