Thanks for the pro-biotic tips for my old boy - we saw a different Vet yesterday, she's fairly new to the practice. She was horrified at the amount of meds he'd been prescribed (by another vet there on Monday) and said come off it all, she thinks he was over medicated. So he's only allowed GI low large food, nothing else at all for a week and one dose of Pro-Kolin daily. We're having to taper the steroids but she thought it was the high dose of those making his poo so bloody. He's so much better today already and his tummy isn't gurgling anything like it was yesterday.
Yes, I've been seeing a difference in vet behaviour the more my dog started declining in health.
We even had one suggest that she gets x-rays done for diagnostics there and then. Now I'm not being funny but nearly £2,000 is a lot to just snap your fingers and get in my life. He acted most disappointed when I put my foot down and said I needed to think about it.
Yet the one I spoke to the other day about the final appointment, and whether we're ready yet or not, was incredibly sympathetic, offered lots of advice and even put together a painkiller parcel that was cheaper than two separate scripts, filling and wrote how much OTC paracetamol she could have on the envelope.
Not all are after the money and they're the ones that give me hope.
