Westlife and Boyzone

I posted this a few weeks ago on another thread.

Oh God it must be tattle thing. I LOVE being called names. It just makes me laugh.
We were in Dublin a few years ago on a hen do and saw Ronan Keating come out of a posh hotel. We were half cut (drunk) of course so we all 10 of us stood ( more like wobbled)there and started singing LOUDLY
🎼🎼🎼"You say it best, when you say nothing at all !"🎼🎼🎼
and he paused at his limo door, glared over at us and yelled "SHUT YER GOBS YA BUNCH OF CULCHIE bleeps !"
We literally fell on the pavement in hysterics. It was very messy and some wee was involved.😊
Best insult ever ! It's our go-to insult now to diffuse tense girlie confrontations.

PS , culchie is a country bumpkin.

I met Westlife 3 times when they came to the restaurant I worked at whilst on tour. The first 2 were when Byan was in the band, but he didn't go for the meal, which is a bit strange on both occasions.

Only real tea is that Shane is an arrogant fucker. He looked down his nose at us. I wasn't a fan so treated him like any normal guy, but after the way he treated us, I was elated when he was declared bankrupt.

Nicky was ok, nothing to report.

Mark was a bit like Shane but not as much.

Kian was so lovely and sweet, he genuinely had a good heart and was very respectful throughout. They were all noisy chatty people who didn't want to listen to us when we were asking who out of their 20 strong party had what food. Kian was the only one who told people to shut up and they listened 😂

Re Boyzone, I was a huge fan though no tea. The only gossip I can think of is Steve's husband - I recall something about him being dodgy, maybe controlling? Louis Walsh didn't like him if memory serves, but maybe he was jealous....? (2+2=5 maybe?)

Oh I forgot - my friends kids go for he same school as Shane Lynch's. No goss though, apparently he's very nice and polite.

not if you read some net pages about it.
There’s a LOT of chat online about what he was up to and what was found in toxicology reports post mortem!
I've read this too. If something went on, it's hushed up.

Definitely hushed up! At the start there was talks of threesomes, drugs, erotic asphyxiation gone wrong, choking on his own vomit, lots of theories, it’s a shame as seemed like such a nice lad and his family seemed like a normal loving family.
I always think of like reality shows and stuff, he’d have loved to do something like strictly or DOI.
Hope he rests in peace whatever caused him to die.

Oh yeah he would have been great on Strictly.

I was a huge Boyzone fan as a teenager. I remember reading a forum post once from someone claiming they saw Stephen sucking off Louis Walsh in the backstage area of Party in the Park. As a 16 year old at the time I thought it was ridiculous, but now I think it's entirely plausible!

Oh I loved Boyzone! Hated Westlife at the time, soppy ballad after soppy ballad, key change, air grab...
My poor little teenage heart was shattered when Stephen came out, I alway seem to crush on the gay guys in boybands 😂
I've only managed to see them once in concert in 2009 and they were fab, sadly it was a few months before Stephen's death.

No he died of a unknown heart condition.
I’d always read that him and his husband had been out, picked up another man and brought him home, had a threesome and been doing a fair amount of coke. Then he had passed away on the sofa by the morning.
Not saying the heart condition stuff is wrong but I would think drugs wouldn’t help it.

doing a tit load of coke with an unknown heart condition will finish you off! Obviously his family wouldn’t have wanted that all over the press.

I'm sure he did DOI but didn't last long...

Ooo that totally goes with my thoughts about Walsh being off with the husband!

Some stories about Ronan from Mumsnet
Number 1
my dd worked in a big hotel in Blackpool after leaving school and quite a lot of stars stayed there who were doing shows etc. She accidentally ended up in a lift complete with her cleaning trolley ( she cleaned the rooms) with a visibly horrified Ronan Keating and his minder. She said he made her feel like some kind of sub human just for being a cleaner and having audacity to be in same lift as him. His minder stopped the lift so she could get out even though it wasn't her floor. She was so furious she looked at him and said 'Shumthing' to say Ronan' in reference to how he pronounces 'something' in the opening line of 'When the going gets tough'. He complained to the management but my dd beat him to it and resigned as was leaving soon anyway.

Number 2
I went to a Gary Barlow concert (no judging) at the Royal Albert Hall in 1997.

Afterwards my mum said we could wait outside to see if I could get an autograph, it appears there was a bit of a get together inside and a few pop stars of the time came out like 911 (one of which was inviting me back to his- I looked older but, still) and someone no one will remember called Connor Reeves who was lovely.

Everyone has had a drink but it seemed pretty tame.

Then Boyzone came out (minus Mikey) and had probably drunk a bit more, Stephen Gately couldn't stand or really talk and was almost carried to the car.

I asked politely for an autograph (there was a max of 10 people waiting) and they went mental shouting why should they? I wasn't at their concert and they weren't getting any money or anything from it.

I was shocked and just said nothing, and my mum said to just ignore them they were just being silly because they'd had a few drinks.

They then all got into the car / people carrier.

After 5 mins or so the window rolls down and RK calls over to me and says they're sorry, it's just a bit late and they were wrong, come over and they'll sign my programme.

I went over and had to lean into the window to hand my book to him at which point whilst cackling he presses the button to shut the window on my head.

At which point my mum walked over, made sure I was ok, opened the door and punched him straight in the face.

I've never been prouder to be her daughter

I've mentioned this before, but a friend of mine in a band (nowhere near as well known as Ronan) was having a drink in a quiet hotel bar in Dublin many years ago, when in walks Ronan with two accomplices. He goes up to the bar manager and asks to have the bar to himself. My mate hears this and tells Ronan to duck off. I've never been prouder to be his mate.
