I'm going to a wedding in April, at quite a fancy place. Have purchased the attached dress a year ago when her wedding was originally supposed to be, hope it still fits :-/

I am really self conscious of the tops of my arms, (no idea why I bought a sleevless dress but there you go) any ideas what I can use to cover them? Also colour of bag and shoes? I normally just wear black so any colour is a bit of a minefield for me.

Thank you!

Hope you don’t mind me joining into this thread…

Help! I’m going to a wedding in a couple of weeks, and all I have is pale, floaty summery dresses. I don’t want to buy another dress but need something to keep me warm… any ideas? Not sure a pashmina will cut it as I’m a cold person

Reviving this thread as I have a few weddings to go to this year. Dressing fancy is really not my thing and I literally have no idea what's appropriate. Does anyone have suggestions where to look? Is it inappropriate to wear a bodycon dress to a wedding? What about a black or red dress? Short dress? Shoulders out? I have so many questions 🙈
Any of the suggestions in the above comments are good.

Closet London is a brand i've bought a few dresses for weddings from. Rixo dresses are lovely if your budget allows. Reiss is also lovely, but agsin can be on the expensive side.

Black or red are totally fine, I'd only wear to a winter wedding though.

In terms of length, i wouldnt go only shorter than just above my knee. Bodycons dresses are lovely for a wedding, would you be comfortable in one all day and with a big meal though? Shoulders out is totally fine for any wedding i've been too (All catholic church) but that could different where other religions are involved?

Hope the above is helpful, if you see anything you like but are unsure of, feel free to post a pic here for opinions - bear in mind of course that anonymous people can sometimes have a lot of opinions!

I'd also love some of your go to websites and brands for wedding guest dresses. Feel like I've got everything possible from ASOS so need to branch out now

I bet the fashion industry is wary of releasing party/ occasion wear this winter incase of restrictions.

What about looking on ebay for inspiration and you might find a bargain. And Pinterest for ideas.

A wedding and getting dressed up sounds like a nice thing to have to look forward to
That's what I was thinking because normally the Christmas/party wear is in the shops at this stage.

Do you have a budget?
Around £150. Could push to £200 if it's something I really like.

Have a wedding to go to next year. It's not until April, but I've been keeping an eye out waiting for the Christmas stuff to come into shops, but I'm not seeing anything much yet. Is it still too early? I thought a lot of sparkly/party clothes are normally in by now. Have been having a look at clothes online, but nothing is jumping out at me, so I'm asking my fellow Tattlers for help please :)

I'm 5'3", size 6-8 (more of an 8 on the belly so that's the one are I don't want to highlight) legs are probably my best feature so shortish might be good. I have dark hair and eyes and love red lipstick. Hair is currently waist length and needs about 6 inches cut off so hopefully will be a bit shorter by then and possibly in some sort of updo, so any suggestions for fascinators/hairclips etc would be great too. Preferably a dress but it doesn't have to be. I love red, black is fine for the wedding. I like navy, teal, green but not pink. Obviously not white/cream etc and pastel colours make me look like death warmed up so are a definite no no.
I have no idea what shoes I'm wearing yet (will depend on the outfit) but they'll definitely be heels (4"+)

Thanks all :)

What kind of weddings are they - religious/formal/indoors/outdoors etc

any colour is ok but obviously don’t wear white/cream or anything that could be mistaken for “bridal” wear!!! I’d try to avoid wearing black personally but obviously if you want to, that’s cool.

if you are only going to the evening party and it’s a disco/live music type thing then a body con dress might be ok. I personally wouldn’t wear that to a full day wedding (service/meal/party)

if you don’t particularly like being “dressed up” then look at jumpsuits - a nice jumpsuit with heels/hair up/jewellery etc can look lovely. Or a nice pair of dressy culottes or wide leg trousers with a nice pair of shoes and top?

Look for a long duster style jacket/kimono jacket
It’s long, dressy, will go with a floaty summer dress but will cover you up and keep you warm? Maybe wear tights under the dress and closed toed shoes or make it a bit edgy and wear some cool little boots and a cosy biker jacket over a summer dress?

I've got one in December!! I want something to hide my tummy (size 10/12 with a right podge!) someone help me too pls 😂
Personally I’d be wearing something like this to a Xmas wedding 😍 can’t go wrong with bold colours or a bit of sparkle for a Xmas wedding. This sort of shape will hide any ‘podge’ perfectly too. Could still wear a fascinator with it x

pretty little thing also do wedding guest section and have lots for autumn winter! Next tend to do loads of more sparkly dresses if that’s something you’d want

I bought some wedding dress outfits from vinted but unfortunately none fit 😭
I want to try and avoid buying anything really as I want to save money. I have a plain black dress and some black heels that have large silver jewels on the heels do you think this would be ok to wear?

Get a nice big pashmina to use as a cover up for your arms. I’d probably go for a silver colour shoe. Nude bag. 👍
Thank you! Ha silver and nude will be a shock to my wardrobe!

That dress is gorgeous, I would wear that.

Pashminas can be bought cheaply from ebay.

What do you have already in your wardrobe? Neutral shoes like nude or tan or gold or silver.
Because the dress has no pattern, even an embellished bag would go , if you already have one.
Thank you! I was a bit worried as its so different from what I always wear. I have black shoes, black bags etc...

I'll take a look online this weekend I think x
