For a while now when I wake up in the morning my chest and stomach are tight with an intense feeling of anxiety. I can still feel it in my chest now. Any tips on how to get this under control and why it may be happening. It's very strong today and I'm taking deep breaths to try and ease it down. I've taken one of my diazepam too. I am thinking I'm perimenopause as I'm the right age and have been having some symptoms so I wonder if that's why I'm getting this feeling. Thanks for any advice.

Are you on any medication? It's honestly the best thing I ever did.

Otherwise ground yourself with deep breaths and try finding five things you can see, four things you can touch, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste.

I’m suffering with anxiety at the moment due to a stressful life event and the mornings are by far the worst; I can totally relate to what you’re feeling. At my worst I’ve literally been retching close to being sick. Apparently it’s due to cortisol levels being highest at that time of day. The main thing helping me is Propranolol, which is a beta blocker. It helps to block the effect of adrenaline, so stops your heart racing, shaking, sweating etc. When your physical anxiety is reduced it helps you to feel calmer. I know the feeling in your chest you’re talking about and the Propranolol really helps with that. If you think it’s related to hormones, could be worth speaking to your GP too and seeing if you can try HRT. Hope you feel better soon ❤

As another has commented, I'm also on Propranolol.
I feel it definitely helps the nervous feeling and helps the uneasiness

Thanks, I ordered a new lot as I haven't used mine in ages and it's out of date. Hopefully they will help with this
