I’ve been playing a lot of animal crossing again recently after the update although starting to get a bit bored with it again now… I’ll probably end up hopping back over to Stardew Valley when I eventually have enough of it.

Not technically a video game but my bestie bought me some bits to get started with Dungeons & Dragons for Christmas and gave me a bit of a tutorial. I’ve been watching Critical Role as well and starting to get really into it. It’s all so overwhelming as a beginner! I want to have a go at making my first character but have no idea where to begin. Does anyone here play or have any pointers for a complete noob that doesn’t know where to start? 😂

I’ve recently downloaded House Flipper on Steam. It’s ok but not that challenging or fun, just doing up houses and onto the next mission. My go to is sims 2, always have and always will be, not a fan on the newer ones. If I had a better PC I think house flipper might be good. I’ve also heard about a new life simulation game coming out soon, I think it’s called Paralives. Can’t wait for that. I think something needs to come out to rival the sims or atleast try.
I'm currently a little bit addicted to House Flipper. Best 7 quid I ever spent (thank you Steam sale!)
I am one of those people that likes building and decorating houses more than playing the actual game in Sims though. Paralives sounds intriguing!

Glad to see other simulator fans, Cities: Skylines is such a good one! I must confess my most-played game on Steam is ...Euro Truck Simulator 2. Don't give a duck or know anything about trucks or trucking (I chose my truck based purely on how huge the horn noise is) but there's something really engrossing about it. Nothing like putting on 80s radio and taking seventeen tonnes of beef from France to Hungary.

GTA: Vice City is probably my favourite game of all time @Shesaidwhat? it's the only GTA I've ever bothered to complete 100%. The newer ones don't do anything for me. I didn't like GTA4 and wasn't fussed over GTA5 either. Haha @Switchstreetz I mentioned on the Off-Topic thread before that my parents let me play GTA2 on the PS1, I also have to assume they didn't know what it was and thought it was some sort of racing game.
So now I need Euro Truck Simulator 2 😂
I'm so sorry, I've only just found this in the JM thread so I'm a bit overexcited. I'm going to be replying to really old comments all evening!
I started out with a Mega Drive I bought off my neighbour. My favourite game was Road Rash where you were in an illegal bike race and had to try and knock each other off with coshes and chains. Adored Theme Park (PS1 I think?) - my fave was feeding people salty chips, making them drink buckets of cola and then sending them on the rollercoaster 🤢
My favourite GTA was whichever one had the song 'Taxi Drivers Must Die' in it.
Spent an awful lot of time in Morrowind (pc and I modded the hell out of it - lost the lot when my laptop died) and Oblivion ❤

If I ever played a scary game I think it was called Silent Hill with the little girl, I had to turn my volume right the way down as either the music would scare me or the enemies jumping out.
I got all the Silent Hill games, but I couldn't play them in the house by myself. The first one especially was genuinely frightening

I absolutely agree with you 😅. I discovered a French radio station with 80s music that’s amazing. A friend of mine told me about the game and, after trying 5 hours of the demo, I was sold. I went to Steam and bought the base game (on sale) and the Iberia expansion pack. Later on, I bought the Vive la France and Going East packs.

So now I need Euro Truck Simulator 2 😂
Join us 😏 or at least, give the demo a try to check out if that’s the game for you. The base game and some expansion packs are on sale until the 5th of January.

Has anyone pre ordered elden ring?

I cannot wait. I will fail miserably at it but I'm excited ❤

Also, I recently played a game called Last Stop. It's a very linear story with small decision making elements that don't really do much but the story is quite sweet. It's all set in London and it's about aliens. The trophies are super easy to collect for trophy hunters. Also played Virginia by the same developers. It was £1.50 on the PlayStation sale.

Lost judgment was really good. I paid for the digital deluxe upgrade and its worth it.

Started playing mortal shell as it was free and I'm finding it hard. Anyone else play it?

D&D was my life in the 80's - I don't remember all the rules and I'm guessing some will have changed anyway but I may be able to help with some questions.
As for rolling a character, think of a fantasy character which inspires you and try to base it from that. Do you have a group nearby? See what sort of games they play and try to think of a character which would fit into their world.

I was bought this book for my birthday when I was 11 or 12 and it was a good entry point.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_Is_Dungeons_&_Dragons?). I'm guessing it may be dated as hell now but it may be worth a read if you can find a copy for a couple of pounds.

Thank you, I’ll see if I can find it second hand somewhere. Sadly no groups I can find near me at the minute but I’ll keep looking. My problem will be finding people to play with I think. My best friend and her husband play and have a group of friends who regularly meet to play but they are 1h30 from me so I’d probably only be able to join once or twice a month or so. My husband would be willing to learn and play but I think you need more than 2 players?

I haven't restarted my island, but I'm getting a bit bored of it, too. It's becoming an effort to do my daily tasks and when I reach that stage it feels a bit pointless playing it.

Sadly the shine of V2.0 is starting to wear off. The cooking is a big gimmick really. I've been collecting all the food DIY recipes but never actually make any of them as it's too much effort and pointless.

I'm also bored of Happy Home Paradise as it's so repetitive and I'm sick of Niko taking credit for my work and giving passive aggressive digs all the time. (My friend and I are convinced he's toxic. 😂 )

I've been thinking about picking up Mario Party Superstars. Has anyone here been playing it? If so, what are your views? Is it too similar to Super Mario Party?

The food doesn’t add anything!!! I thought I’d be able to craft things quicker, or swim faster etc.

You need more than two players, otherwise its a pretty poor experience as one person has to be the dungeon master and the other gets to play. 4 is a reasonable amount as it means that you have 3 players and one dungeon master. Speak to your friend and ask her opinion though, D&D is fairly popular with students so there may be a local group in a town depending where you live. (It depends how old you are and if you can put up with students though :ROFLMAO: ).
If all else fails, get yourself a PC and play D&D, Elder Scrolls or any decent rated MMORPG online.

There are loooads of online groups for playing tabletop RPGs and D&D, on Discord and probably other platforms - one of my friends recently started out too and they're using different Discord groups to chat about the game and to find groups to play over voice chat or just in text chat if you're not comfy with going on vc with strangers.

Hey everyone. SANDS charity for doing a gaming event for charity where you can stream or just play your favourite game for the month of February. I lost my daughter in September, and I’ve pledged that I’ll play animal crossing everyday for an hour in February.

So sorry for your loss, that's a nice thing to do 💜

Has anyone played the forgotten city? It seems to have a type of assassins creed vibe to it, has a few different endings, wondering how many there are for it, an if its like one good ending an a few bad endings

I played it recently on the Xbox streaming app, it's great! There is one big main ending if you manage to do the "best" possible to solve everything, and there are maybe 3? smaller/faster endings which are a combination of good and bad ends.

Really enjoyable game, the kind of satisfying puzzler that's fairly simple but makes you feel like a genius anyway 😂

That's exactly what I did as well 😂😂 seen some money an thought am having that then was like well damn, looking forward to trying out what else will set it off, am not sure if its just me not noticing at first but do the golden statues grow each time the golden rule happens, I wasn't paying fully attention at first but it just felt like after I stole there was more of them

Hey all, I’ve recently bought a Nintendo switch and am looking for some games to download. Any recommendations? So far I’ve just got animal crossing. I love simulation games; I’m a huge sims fan. But I’m intrigued to see what everyone likes on the switch

EDIT: I’m v tired and called it a Nintendo DS so changed it 😂
