This is a great idea for a thread about vegan u tubers. I’ve watched a few recently. I just look mostly at channels that do recipes and food related stuff! I’ve never seen so many drama queens in one place all at once😀

Has anyone watched those vegan guys? Started off ok, but really starting to get on my nerves now.

Also, all the preachy ones, and ones you just know will return to eating meat in the next few years lol. The drama is a great laugh though. They turn really nasty when someone decides not to be vegan anymore!

EDIT just rewatched and there clearly is - as there was yesterday - an includes paid promotion marker in the top left!
I hate the marker in the corner, it's so easy to miss and ultimately I think #Ad should be in the thumbnail or the title of the video. The ASA guidelines are a bit looser than that but soon presumably she wont have to answer to them at all if she's moving to the US?

I'm finding her content increasingly irritating tbh. I appreciate that she does really well to live with so little waste, but this 'slow-living' stuff is only doable if you don't have a real job. I still like her discussion videos, but there was one a while back where she recommended a bank account that wasn't a bank account (thereby not giving as many consumer protections) but neglected to explain that in the video. Luckily her subscribers were on it in the comments, but I really don't think influencers should be recommending financial products at all. I think the eco-influencers get way more of a free pass than other influencers as they're deemed to be more ethical.

Just google "avantgardevegan antivax" and you'll see the reddit thread, he shared Joe Rogans podcast with some hack doctor talking about covid. He also apprently has been seen commenting on various covid, lockdown and vaccine related content.
Not surprised by this to be honest. He always seemed a bit like a ... special type of person. If you know what I mean.

I will never understand why these people don't have private accounts. Why do this on your business account?

when did the unnatural vegan thing happen? so disappointing as she seemed very sensible
It’s a few things over the years that turned me off. I’d already unfollowed her by last June but I did see some influencers repost things where she had flat out said that there’s no problem with racism in veganism and refused to listen to what anyone was saying in return. I don’t know about any other anti BLM stuff she may have said.

It's funny how many of the health vegans aren't vegan anymore.

Freelee is insane, her antics might've been worth a whole thread but honestly she actually gets pretty ignored nowadays.

Who was the girl that went on raw till 4 / banana diet only to gain a shit ton of weight? Freelee would keep encouraging her by saying it was normal to gain weight as your body detoxes or something. She went to Chiang Mai and met Freelee / Durian, was into cycling. I think she was Belgian? I wonder what happened to her
That was Julia Boer - I wonder what happened to her too.

Agree with everything that’s been said about TVG’s, especially Paul. He really has become a virtue signaling irritating arse.subscribers are utterly cringe as well😂

His rants about covid are embarrassing, as are his wittering on about being the subject of a burglary.! He has mentioned this numerous times it’s just godawful embarrassing.
Also, I’m sure there’s more to his dismissal from his job. I’d love to hear the other side of the story.
😀
I find Jason equally irritating tbh. They both barely work and arse around on the allotment, and making ‘content’ for U tube. What a joke.

They were shooting their mouth off (especially Paul) about not going to a vegan festival cos they were worried about covid.- and lecturing anyone who was going. LMAO, that Jason still got covid. They could have gone to the festival, and lived a little and actually had fun!! At least if they got covid there, they would have been doing something interesting for a change.

I don’t watch the Vegan Queens. I hate drag, and their mate Stuart gives me the creeps!

Yeah I do! She's one of the few vegan youtubers I actually still enjoy watching. I like how self-deprecating her sense of humour and editing style are, and she seems quite down-to-earth. I also think she gives sensible advice about nutrition/ED recovery and her approach to food is refreshingly normal for the vegan community (and in general). I follow her friend Sophie (cornonthecob) on instagram too, and she seems like another fairly mature one with nice, non-rabbitey, normal recipes.

I like Miles (healthycrazycool) too, though I agree with some of the earlier posters that the exaggerated love/appreciation of certain food and going on and on about the volume on his plate sort of still seem disordered - but I do appreciate the fact that he's honest about this. And then again, does anyone have a completely 'normal' relationship with food in this day and age... I like his no-BS approach to veganism, though. And while I can't afford to eat like him nor do I ever crave fruit/veg in those quantities, I agree with his stance on how intuitive eating can be dangerous for some people. His nut butter reviews genuinely kill me - they're great.

Which other vegan youtubers are people still watching/are somewhat palatable? I watch Unnatural Vegan sometimes, and I like Madeleine Olivia and NikkiVegan's content in general. I follow JessBeautician, SweetPotatoSoul, Rachel Ama, Bosh, and PickUpLimes for recipes too.
Absolutely love Helena, she seems so happy and genuine and has a good education.

Also there is something in Miles I like but I feel like he has seriously stretched his stomach out to eat so much. There is also his friend, Anna Winstone, who's videos I really enjoy and recommend. She has a small channel at the moment but it shows some growth. She used to live with Helena.

Ah I love Rose, she's so sweet and refreshing. I think having her own vegan cafe really helps and she has lots of friends and an actual life outside of youtube, too and i think it helps her staying grounded and level-headed. I don't always agree with her, but I like her view on a lot of things, she's intelligent and listens well and understands the world.
Sweetpotatosoul is such a dear, her voice is so relaxing and calm and pleasant. She should narrate audiobooks ngl, so warm.
I don't know Melis Ustun, will look them up. I follow Erin for a long time now, too, her cats are adorable and she's a kind person but a bit too much I'm not like other people, i think she's a bit too young for me.
Other recommendations?
Ahh agree with everything you've said! Seems like we have similar tastes in videos :) Forgot to mention, but I love Honeybunch of Onion Tops too. She's GF and vegan, and has a real passion for food and comes across really sensibly. Her vlogs are very soothing and unpretentious. As far as recipe creators go, I also like Liv B, Amanda Ducks, and Elle Gibson (Elle's vlogs are great too). I clearly watch a lot of vegan youtube haha

They’ve become really full of it as their subs has grown. I don’t trust them in the slightest. They seem purely out to become u tube celebs now!
I think I'm starting to agree. I've noticed recently that Paul has mentioned his birthday is coming up soon a few times, then on the last unboxing (I think) he actually blurted the date as if to say send me stuff!

Yeah very true actually I didn't think of that - it's about the individual and how they feel. I know some are just naturally slimmer and no point forcing yourself to eat

I do wonder if that's why Miles lost so much since getting with his gf

The covid stuff is even more ridiculous. Someone seemingly smart and have common sense believing stuff like that... 🤔
People always think it's a "luxury" to be able to eat more in order to gain weight but it's not the case. It's fun for like 2 days and after that you are just force feeding. Even if I add high calorie foods like nuts and seeds I'm just full! There's only so much your body can digest lol. Maybe it's easier for others, but for me it's honestly difficult. That's why I am just eating what I want without worrying, the constant yoyo'ing is super tiring for the body.
Is he still onto the weird covid stuff? I unfollowed him a long time ago because he's gone crazy lol.

On a different note, I'm so happy unnatural vegan is pregnant with their third baby and that Lisa from the viet vegan recently also gave birth. It's nice to see~

Aren't most people with a good tennis career from quite a wealthy background? Like you gotta have some money to fund such a career, right? Tennis lessons, especially at that level, are so expensive.

(*Of course there are exceptions, just generally speaking - tennis, like hockey, is for the rich)

Why does Youtube attract so many of these woo-woo vegans who end up as conspiracy theorists or drinking their own piss or something? I don't know any vegans like that in IRL, we're just sort of... normal.
I have been wondering about this, too, but thankfully there are still many very normal vegans on youtube, too! I think they are just not so shouty about being vegan and therefore not gain as much traction. I follow a lot (if you want recommendations, I have plenty) and they are very normal!
I don't know any vegans IRL sadly enough, it's kind of lonely. I'm from a very rural (cow) farm heavy area. You know the type. They don't understand here.

Yeah it's the vocal majority of us on social media. Pretty much every vegan I know in real life are chill.
Me too. Thankfully the ones I’ve come across on u tube don’t represent any vegans I know. Most of the u tube ones are full of bullshit

i admit the financial stuff passes me by. I wouldn't be looking at financial advice from anyone other than a qualified independent financial advisor I had engaged with if I did have money.

I once took a look in his comments, didn't delve far but the majority I saw were young girls with ED, boasting how long they had gone without food, watching him eat so they didn't need to, scary
He gets more dislikes than likes these days. I think as the views have grown it's people watching for entertainment rather than just the ED crowd, but they're still very prevalent and as you say worrying.

Nick probably thinks he's being smart and can give it up and he's in control of it all. But he must have doubled his weight and that's going to have long term irreversible affects. One day he's going to be kicked off YouTube for extreme or dangerous content.

I like Jess Beautician, Pick Up Limes, and Good Eatings for recipes. No drama, just well-filmed, quality food content and delicious, realistic recipes. I like Cheap Lazy Vegan, Mina Rome, Melis Ustun, and Waffles with Leila for down-to-earth, realistic vlogs and recipes too.
Seconded on Pick Up LImes and Good Eatings.. both also come across as really nice

I love Mina Rome, NikkiVegan, Veggiekins, East meets kitchen, Sarah's vegan kitchen, Gittemary Johansen, Good Eatings, Unnatural Vegan, Pickuplimes, Jess Beautician, Simnet Nutrition, sweet simple vegan...

You may not click with everybody, you can always check them out and see who you like. Probably forgetting some, but I think this is a good place to start.
I've been subscribed to a few of those before, but I'll definitely have a look at the others, thanks :)

might not even be a dire situation.. she might be taking care of someone or just that she cant afford the rent anymore, perhaps roommate is moving out etc.. who knows.. does she have a day job or just YT?
No just YT from what I know. I do wonder what she even does all day though? Her videos don't take that long to film and edit and it's mostly meals or showing a haul or something. I just can't wrap my head around what she is doing with the rest of her day. She should consider getting a part time job if YT isn't making her enough money.
