what tablets do you use? I found the gel ones always did this to my glassware , so now I use aldi’s dishwasher tablets, they look cheap but work wonders

Thank you. I do sometimes use the gel ones. I'll pay more attention now and make sure to avoid the gels. We don't have hard water though.
YES! What are washing up bowls about? I think they're unhygenic and completely pointless.
Dishwasher all the way here. I put EVERYTHING in, bar the wok because it has a non stick coating, but plates, dishes, cups , mugs, cutlery, utensils, saucepans, flower vases! EVERYTHING goes in.
It wasn’t me you asked but I always use Fairy. These days I use the Ultimate version. I find them far better than Finish or supermarket versions.
Dishwashers use less water than the sink in the long run I think.I bleeping hate my dishwasher, it’s such high maintenance and because there is only two of us we barely ever fill it up. I feel bad using it because I always think how much water it uses. I’m definitely team sink! I love taking out my anger by giving a pan a good scrub too

I am from the UK and my husband pointed something out to me (he's North American). He noticed that in the UK, people would fill their sink up, wash the dishes and rinse it with the same dirty water

anyways we lather up and wash all the dishes first and then rinse under the tap quickly, when I tell people in my home country how people wash here they are shocked

I couldnt even imagine having a dishwasher. Whenever we've stayed places with them they're just a massive inconvenience when you can wack the stuff in the sink and get it done in no time.

I love washing the dishes! I find it very therapeutic weirdly enough? I reckon if I got a dishwater I’d forget how much I love washing the dishes quite easily though
I love my dishwasher - couldn’t live without it .. I’m a very keen cook so often use a lot of dishes when I do cook and it’s so easy to stack it (5 mins tops) , pop it on a cycle and in 90 mins my dishes are clean and dry (ours dries them too !) and can just be put away

I love my dishwasher, had one at my parents from the late 80’s onwards so always wanted one as an adult, we did do without one when had our kitchen/conservatory done but luckily managed to plumb on in inside a cupboard, washing the dishes was novelty for me at first & did enjoy it but no bugger did them other than me & they just piled up, I found it so frustrating, I just shove everything in the dishwasher now, turn it on & they are done!

I have watched Emmerdale (don't judge me) whilst doing tonights washing up and it wasn't a chore but I do have the time.

100% dishwasher for me. No dishes hanging around, all goes straight in the DW. Im on my second one. First time round I wasn’t as impressed, that was pre kids. It took more than a days worth of dishes to fill it up with only two of us in the house. Then you would get the inevitable smells with unwashed crockery 
. I sold it on eBay. Fast forward to a family years later and it goes on once a day before bed and gets emptied in the morning.

Those of you that use the dishwasher do you rinse stuff under the tap first before it goes in? If it’s a cup then I don’t but if it’s a plate or something that’s got leftover ketchup or sauce on I will give it a quick rinse .
I (well, mostly my son) only rinse off the lumps.
I don't. If there's any pieces of food left on the plates I scrape it into the bin, but I don't rinse anything. Just bung it all in.
MIL puts on a pre rinse cycle, then an actual wash (an incredibly long wash) Her dishwasher takes about three hours!

I LOVE my dishwasher and couldn't live without it, life's too short to waste it washing dishes plus I never feel dishes get hygienically clean if they've not been through a dishwasher. I once went without a working oven for 7 months because I couldn't be bothered to get someone in to fix it but when my dishwasher broke I rang someone the same day
