Haha must rush and get my wristband for Blackpool Pleasure Beach
And the jogging was Boris schtick. Can't even be original.More smoke and mirrors from Burnham/politicians, when are they going to be honest with us? Errrrr, never.
He is a strange man, just dancing to whichever tune appeals to him and to make himself front and centre. Ducks out of Westminster, where he failed to become party leader, to go to be the Mayor of Greater Manchester, basically because he is from that area and perceived to be the Messiah ...... he's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy.
Good to have a person on the ground giving us the real facts @terfette
Perhaps he thought calling the paps, then running around in too short shorts and a 1980's Everton shirt would make him seem like a man of the people. No wonder he is talking about the Thatcher era in politics, his attire is from that time too.![]()
Where did I say I was against it in its entirety? I think if you live somewhere you can donate, but i think there should be guard rails on how much you can donate. Im not sure why Ukraine is being brought into this though. It is unrelated to UK party donations. If they’re citizens of the country I don’t see why not? I take it you’re against political funding in its entirety then? We could be doing with our £ billions back from Zelenskyy![]()
You can hold both passports there’s nothing to say they don’t? Being born in the state gives them duel nationality from birth so not non nationals as was my first point.Where did I say I was against it in its entirety? In Northern Ireland, people can be Irish citizens but still live and be elected locally. Do you see them as “non-citizens governing another country,” or as residents participating in their own local system?
That’s near enough my point. They can participate because they live there. Even if they have just an Irish passport they can still participate in stormont. You can hold both passports there’s nothing to say they don’t? That applies UK wide. The rules for being an MP are that you have to be a UK, Irish or Commonwealth citizen. Its even less strict for the Scottish Parliament. In Northern Ireland, people can be Irish citizens but still live and be elected locally.
Yeah. It isnt purely nationality based otherwise you wouldnt be able to take part as someone from the Commonwealth or Ireland. That applies UK wide. The rules for being an MP are that you have to be a UK, Irish or Commonwealth citizen. Its even less strict for the Scottish Parliament.
Yes, sent the link to Mr Fluff earlier today saying I'd like to go in the next couple of weeks. Is anyone here going to see the Nova exhibition in London?
Only on the UK side of things Irish passport holders in the north can’t participate in ROI politics or even vote in presidential elections. Like I said UK politics is a joke ,open season .That’s near enough my point. They can participate because they live there. Even if they have just an Irish passport they can still participate in stormont.
I agree residency is what gives democratic legitimacy. That’s why I think long-term overseas residents shouldn’t have financial influence over UK parties, because they’re no longer part of that political community.
Just waiting on them wheeling Cliff Richard out to singJust having a giggle at the Chancellor's latest 'measures'.
Wow that's a relief, all problems sorted, we can all go on a day out to a theme park at a reduced rate.
What was the point, what really was the point.
The amount of MP's actually sitting in the HoC just shows it is a non-event. They have probably de-camped to the Commons bar to have a stiff drink.
When Alton towers have just changed thier food menus to not include a drink with meals, 5 quid for a coke! Wouldn't surprise me if they knew this was coming and this is how they plan on making that money back.Just waiting on them wheeling Cliff Richard out to singSummer Holiday
with lots of families struggling to put food on the table how many will be able to afford days out and hospitality?
Feck me, the same measures are temporarily reducing VAT on cinema/theatre tickets but only on children's tickets. Why the feck would you only apply it to children's tickets and thoroughly lumber the cinemas and theatres with a VAT admin minefield where they have to mess with their established accounting systems and now account for the different tickets separately all the way through to the VAT calculation, with an eye on the ticket's sales date as well. Tell me these clowns have never run a business without telling me that.Haha must rush and get my wristband for Blackpool Pleasure Beach
I dont even think kids cinima tickets are a thing anyway. You just pay for a ticket based on what seat you want, at vue anyway. So unless every tickets getting a discount its not even going to work.Feck me, the same measures are temporarily reducing VAT on cinema/theatre tickets but only on children's tickets. If you're going to feck about with VAT then do it for ALL cinema tickets and ALL theatre tickets and so on, not this conditional tit that means extra record keeping and processing. The government can EASILY afford to do it with all the unexpected cash they're raking in on higher VAT take on fuel due to the higher fuel prices.
Moronic.
Yes and all the restaurant who have probably signed off on their summer menu designs and costings over the past few weeks, who now have to go again. All that potential reprinting doesn’t shout net zero does itFeck me, the same measures are temporarily reducing VAT on cinema/theatre tickets but only on children's tickets. Even takeaways are expensive, if you’ve got more than two children it’s costly. When Alton towers have just changed thier food menus to not include a drink with meals, 5 quid for a coke! Wouldn't surprise me if they knew this was coming and this is how they plan on making that money back.
