Thanks for the replies ladies. JTsFringe thanks for so much detail that's very reassuring and im glad your experience had been positive that is very ressuring for me. I take tranexamic acid already for heavy periods and they do help but not so much with the pain and cramping.
The cervical ablation is supposed to blast away the lining of my cervix therefore my periods should then be very light, but also very dangerous if I was to get pregnant so that's where the sterilisation comes in.
Like yourself Onepotatotwopotato I'm very worried about any hormonal effects. I'm very sensitive and seem to react to any changes to my body. I've tried hormonal forms of contraception before such as the marina coil and the pill and I react badly to them, I'm just worried how my body will react to this. I've googled both procedures and it's just the worry stories of regret and 'post tubal litigation syndrome' where women experiencing a raft of symptoms that have only come on since getting their tubes tied. I'm just really conflicted as whether to go through with the op or not as it would be great to not have to worry about heavy periods, period pain and contraception but if it means it will be replaced with depression, night sweats, loss of libido, sleep disturbances? Is it worth taking the chance it there is a genuine possibility that I might experience those symptoms? Just would love to hear from anyone else who has had either procedures or preferably both.
