True Ghost Stories #3

I've just finished reading the book Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood which was a massive Tattle recommendation.
Although it's a witch tale there was a background story about the world we live in, and the "other side".
I'm useless at explaining things but questions I've read on here pinged into my mind at certain points in the book, including the question "are they still there?" about loved ones who have passed on.

I really do hope there is something after we die. It breaks my heart to think this could be it and, tbh, I've been really struggling with that since my passed

I believe we are reunited with our loved ones x
i do too. i’ve read too much about people who have suffered near death experiences and clearly remember seeing family members who have passed. and numerous stories from people working in hospices/end of life care who say patients start saying they can see loved ones in their room with them in the final days. i believe it and also really want it to be true 💙

My Cousin passed away several years ago from lung cancer and was admitted to a hospice in her final days. Just before she died she asked "is this where I've got to go now Mum? My Auntie, her Mum had passed a few years previously, I like to think that her Mum came to meet her and guided her over...

My eldest daughter used to work as a silver service waitress and a lot of events had entertainment booked. One particular event they had a Clairvoyant who spoke with my daughter.
She told her that she had a sister, now my daughter being clever told her that actually she had three sisters and a brother. The Clairvoyant then told her yes but only one is of maternal blood (true) we are a blended family. She then said that her Grandmother(my mother) had said she wanted me to know that she was watching over all three of us. My mother always told me and my two brothers that when she died that she'd be watching over all three of us, she said this often. My daughter automatically assumed that she meant she'd be watching over the three of us, me and her sister and her but I knew exactly what that message was saying. The fact that she used those very words "she wants you to know she's watching over all three of you" left me in no doubt that was a genuine Clairvoyant.

I was watching an interview with a hospice nurse who had been frightened by death until she worked in a hospice and saw a lot of beautiful things.
I think it was her that said that your loved ones on the other side make your surroundings familiar so you feel at home straight away. It could have been the bloke interviewing her though.
Sounded like a nice thing to do.
I have chatted to palliative care nurses in hospital and they freely tell you about their experiences without batting an eyelid, as it's so normal to them.

So my mum passed away at new year, a coupe of weeks ago I had a particularly bad day and was weighing up my options, I couldn’t sleep at all that night so just stayed lying in bed. I was facing my door this night and I usually sleep on my other side facing the wall. Anyway about 5am I heard someone walking softly. My door opened and there was my mum, I couldn’t speak or make any kind of sound but I had a million questions going through my mind and all she said was I love you and I miss you and then my door closed again. I woke my husband up and told him and I was explaining how mum looked, she had a nightie on that I remember from my childhood so she hasn’t owned it for 15years plus, she looked like mum just a normal person although a little pale. But she had no legs😂. I know people will think it was a dream but honest to god I was awake. She’s never been back since no matter how much I’ve asked x
This has really touched me you know. Sending love to you xxxx

I don't know what to make of this so please forgive me whilst I ramble.
My Father in law died last Friday. It was expected but is still so damn horrible.
He was an avid mountain biker and every day since he died the weather has been beautiful mountain biking weather. Probably a coincidence.
But today, we went for a walk at a country park. Turned the corner and David Bowie was playing full blast who was my FIL favourite artist.
Wouldn't think anything of it but I asked him last night to send a sign that he was OK.
My boyfriend brushed it off as us "looking for signs" and it probably was a huge coincidence but we've walked that trail so many times, passed the park run event so many times and never have the organisers been playing 80s/90s music.
We are sent lots of signs when a loved one passes. Sounds like you got yours.

Just discovered these threads - I love reading and sharing true ghost stories and look forward to reading all of your experiences ❤

In the meantime though I have two to share. Here is the first.

When I was a very little kid I had a great aunt, we'll call her Angie as that is the anglicised version of her real name (too long to keep typing out). My mum took me to Angie's house every other Saturday so my mum could clean the house, make her food and help Angie out. Angie frightened me - she was very old, extremely large (only partly mobile, always sat on the sofa) and her house was very dark, old-fashioned and smelled bad. Most frightening of all was Angie herself, because her eyes were always fastened on me. Wherever I was in the room, no matter what I was doing, whether my mum was talking to her or not - Angie's gaze would follow me silently around the room. I can see her gaze right now in my mind's eye, nearly 60 years later. Her eyes looked...hungry, when she looked at me. It frightened me badly.

When I was 8, Angie died and my mum, my aunts, my cousins and me went to her house to box up all her stuff. My cousin and I were going through one box and I pulled out a yellow knitted toy. It was weird...hand knitted, stuffed and looked like some kind of bird/lizardy thing. I didn't like it, and it smelled bad, but my cousin was egging me on to nick it and given that my cousin was 10 and therefore a goddess in my eight year old eyes, I did so. But the toy for some reason made me feel uneasy, so when we got home I shoved it under my bed so that it would be out of sight.

(Important fact: In my culture we believe that for the first 40 days after a person has died, their soul is still very close to earth and may visit relatives and loved ones with whom the person had unfinished business.)

So that night, I woke up in the night. I was definitely awake and not dreaming. I turned round in bed and saw Angie walking towards me, smiling lovingly. She was grey, translucent and her face was lit up with joy as she walked towards me across my room, her hands held out as if to hug me. I had never seen her walking or smiling in life.

I was terrified and pulled the blankets over my head and cowered. Eventually I went back to sleep.

When I was much older I learned that Angie had a tragic life. All she ever wanted was children, but she had 8 miscarriages. The last one was so late and so bad that the doctors told her any further attempts to get pregnant could kill her. Her husband left her, blaming her for her infertility (patriarchal stupid culture) and she sank into agoraphobia and binge eating disorder. But she was haunted by her love for, and desperation for, children because she could never had one of her own.

I also learned that every time she got pregnant, Angie would excitedly knit a woollen yellow bird for her baby's first toy. She'd kept canaries as a child in our home country and was excited to share the beauty of those birds with her baby. But she never had a baby, and the woollen yellow canaries were carefully stored away but never used.

I believe that what I saw that night was the ghost of my aunt before her soul was finally translated, and that she was happy to see that a child (me) finally had one of the woollen canaries she had so lovingly created.

OK sorry for double posting but I just remembered another one - this didn't happen to me but to a medium friend of mine. I've just been reading about that vile monster Kyle Clifford and the beautiful, brave family of John Hunt, and that made me remember this.

I used to see a psychic medium regularly and we became friends. She was a no nonsense Irish lady and very, very good. We were out for a coffee once and I asked her if she had ever had unwanted and unsought for premonitions and if so whether she had ever acted on them. She said she did when she was younger and learned not to 'bother' people with her insights unless they had specifically asked for them because it could create fear and bad blood. She only broke that rule once...

She told me she was in a pub in Ireland about a decade prior and it was near last orders. She was having a quiet drink when the door opened and a group of young women came in, all dressed up to the nines, clearly about to have a night out and popping in for a swift one before they went on to a club. As my friend sat admiring the girls dressed up in their finery, she suddenly had a overwhelming premonition/urge which caused her to go up to one of the girls, take her by the upper arm and say to her, in her ear, "Don't go home to him tonight."

My friend had no idea of the meaning of what she said or why she felt impelled to say it. The girl obviously thought she was some random drunken nutter, shook her off and walked away.

3 days later my friend was reading the local paper and saw a picture of the girl she had spoken to in the pub. The girl had been reported missing.

Two days after that the girl's body was found, and her boyfriend arrested for her murder. At the trial it emerged he was a vile abuser, was insanely jealous that she had gone out clubbing without him, laid in wait for her at her home and murdered her on her return.

My gran was grabbed in the street by a woman urging her to get home asap as her child was seriously ill. Turned out that the woman was a psychic....

I was reading stories about ouija boards a few days ago. If anyone has done one, what made you do it? Did anything happen?
I’m too scared to ever do one just in case 😅
Yes I did a few times when I was a teenager. The glass moved but as we were all kids I can’t be sure one of my friends wasn’t pushing it. However one time we did one at my friends house and her dog start acting very strangely during the time we were doing it. My parents did one with friends before they were married and some things came though that none of them could have known, which turned out to be true when they looked into them afterwards!

Not my story, my mum‘s: her dad died when she was only 15. The night he died (he was in hospital), she suddenly woke up and saw a light in her bedroom. Like sort of floating in the air. She said she also smelled lavender. She’s convinced it was her dad who came to say goodbye.

Me, I recently had a dream in which my aunt, who passed away rather unexpectedly, gave me a long hug and then walked away. I had struggled with her passing, couldn't even drive past the town she lived in without bursting into tears. I always felt it was unfair that she had to pass as she hadn’t been poorly. I think she came to me in my dream to let me know she was ok and that I needed to accept what happened. We always suspected she had willed herself to die as her husband had passed about a year before herself and that dream kind of confirms that for me.

I smell cigarettes in my car like someone's smoking and once felt someone get in to bed behind me
I thought the cigarette smoke might have been sucked in from outside the car 🙄, but I couldn't find an explanation for the bed episode - I had a feeling it was my mum. Don't know why. Who can explain these things. 🤷‍♀️

Love reading these! I know I’ve posted a couple of my own ghost experiences but also wanted to post my weird glitch in the matrix experience. Not a ghost story, but unexplained and weird and only happened last summer!

I live about 10-15 mins from the beach. In the summer, my friend and I like to go down in the evening for a walk (run if we’re feeling ambitious and a swim if we’re feeling really brave!). We would usually leave to head home anywhere between 7:30-8:30. One evening late last summer I was driving back, was just dusk so around 8:30. Bear in mind I drive this way back from the beach whenever I go and also, if I am in a certain place for work, I will drive this way home. I also drive this way to the gym and occasionally into town just because it’s much prettier than the main road. It’s not an unfamiliar route.

So, I was driving home, chilling, music on, minding my business. There is one signposted turning off the main lane down a tiny one to a little hamlet. Drove past that, and a few minutes later thought the drive felt longer than usual. Just as I thought that, I passed the same sign again. There are no other turnings off the lane. I couldn’t possibly have looped round or gone back on myself because it’s just one lane. I drive it at least weekly so I know the road really well. I have absolutely no explanation for this, and it hasn’t happened again. Every time I drive that way home though I always expect it to happen again. Weirdest thing ever.

I absolutely love hearing about glitches in the matrix! So weird and interesting!!
