I find it fascinating too - properly mental to experience it myself though…
I think they're fascinating. The Western mind tends to see time as linear but physics shows us that's not true (and other culture have always known it).

I think time moves in cycles and is multi-layered. Sometimes one of the layers is very thin or porous and that's how we experience things like ghosts, or get a glimpse of just one of the trillions of alternative realities that exist at any one time.

I think people who claim not to believe in ghosts or glitches are quite small-minded and certainly anti-scientific.

I really need to look more into that as it sounds mind boggling yet totally interesting!
I agree about non believers being small minded in that respect. They can’t possibly think there is us and that’s it!

Just discovered these threads - I love reading and sharing true ghost stories and look forward to reading all of your experiences ❤

In the meantime though I have two to share. Here is the first.

When I was a very little kid I had a great aunt, we'll call her Angie as that is the anglicised version of her real name (too long to keep typing out). My mum took me to Angie's house every other Saturday so my mum could clean the house, make her food and help Angie out. Angie frightened me - she was very old, extremely large (only partly mobile, always sat on the sofa) and her house was very dark, old-fashioned and smelled bad. Most frightening of all was Angie herself, because her eyes were always fastened on me. Wherever I was in the room, no matter what I was doing, whether my mum was talking to her or not - Angie's gaze would follow me silently around the room. I can see her gaze right now in my mind's eye, nearly 60 years later. Her eyes looked...hungry, when she looked at me. It frightened me badly.

When I was 8, Angie died and my mum, my aunts, my cousins and me went to her house to box up all her stuff. My cousin and I were going through one box and I pulled out a yellow knitted toy. It was weird...hand knitted, stuffed and looked like some kind of bird/lizardy thing. I didn't like it, and it smelled bad, but my cousin was egging me on to nick it and given that my cousin was 10 and therefore a goddess in my eight year old eyes, I did so. But the toy for some reason made me feel uneasy, so when we got home I shoved it under my bed so that it would be out of sight.

(Important fact: In my culture we believe that for the first 40 days after a person has died, their soul is still very close to earth and may visit relatives and loved ones with whom the person had unfinished business.)

So that night, I woke up in the night. I was definitely awake and not dreaming. I turned round in bed and saw Angie walking towards me, smiling lovingly. She was grey, translucent and her face was lit up with joy as she walked towards me across my room, her hands held out as if to hug me. I had never seen her walking or smiling in life.

I was terrified and pulled the blankets over my head and cowered. Eventually I went back to sleep.

When I was much older I learned that Angie had a tragic life. All she ever wanted was children, but she had 8 miscarriages. The last one was so late and so bad that the doctors told her any further attempts to get pregnant could kill her. Her husband left her, blaming her for her infertility (patriarchal stupid culture) and she sank into agoraphobia and binge eating disorder. But she was haunted by her love for, and desperation for, children because she could never had one of her own.

I also learned that every time she got pregnant, Angie would excitedly knit a woollen yellow bird for her baby's first toy. She'd kept canaries as a child in our home country and was excited to share the beauty of those birds with her baby. But she never had a baby, and the woollen yellow canaries were carefully stored away but never used.

I believe that what I saw that night was the ghost of my aunt before her soul was finally translated, and that she was happy to see that a child (me) finally had one of the woollen canaries she had so lovingly created.
This is such a sad story but also so beautiful. I think you're right and I hope she found peace knowing one of the canaries was with a child.
I really hope she's found happiness in her next life

In the past few weeks I’ve noticed a few odd signs and coincidences. I’ve been particularly down and anxious about a few things, so I know my defences are down and others will say they are all explainable; It’s just me wanting them to be more.
But last night I was lying in bed before OH came up, and it honestly felt as though someone lightly touched my back a couple of times.
I’d heard OH go into the bathroom so I knew it wasn’t him getting into bed.
It was the lightest touch, so, again, it could be explained away I suppose, but it definitely felt like someone touching me.

Earlier in the week I took a trip with the children to see some relatives, it's a trip we take twice a year and a trip I used to take with my parents when younger. The route takes us through a built up area and I always remember one particular block of flats I hated passing (although same as all the others) as they gave me a bad feeling. I can't explain it and certainly never said this out loud to anyone.

So we're driving through this area and my daughter says suddenly "I hate passing that block of flats" so I asked which and why and she thought about it and said "I don't know they just make me feel sad". How bizarre is that.

Obsessed with this thread!

When I was about 8-9, my mum had my aunties round for one of our takeaway nights. I was upstairs alone and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure of a man with what looked like a kitchen knife. I was petrified but tried to brush it off as my imagination and didn’t tell anyone. When I went downstairs later on, my auntie came rushing downstairs saying she had just seen a shadow man with a knife. I was frozen in fear and still haven’t told anyone to this day that I saw the same!

The man who used to own our house abused his children and was an all-round awful man. My mum used to do his daughters hair (she was elderly at the time) so we knew quite a bit of info about what he did to her.

My mum said he felt his presence when she first bought the house so she told him to f**k off!

I put something from You Tube on to listen to whilst I got ready today.
It turned out to be a medium being interviewed. She had been kidnapped at some point in her life and has been helping the Police since childhood find missing children.
She was asked to find a grown up missing child which she eventually agreed to do. This somehow led on to her finding out how Jon Benet Ramsey died - she was killed by her mother as Jon Benet had a scrap with her brother over something of his, and her mother panicked and thought the brother had killed her.
In order to protect her son the mother strangled what she thought was her dead daughter, but she was actually still alive. So the mother inadvertently murdered her daughter and wrote a fake kidnap letter to protect her son from being arrested.
The family had to live with what they had done. Jon Benet didn't want them to be punished as she said they did it out of love for the son.
I was a bit late leaving the house as I was so gobsmacked. 😲

Sorry you’re feeling so down! I quite often get the feeling someone has their fingers in my hair

I went to to a medium night last night, was spooky, but I wasn’t 100% convinced - no messages for me, but multiple for others

How was it?

I'm so curious about mediums and would love to go to one. My issue is figuring out who the fake ones are and avoiding them!

Love this kind of stuff love when I stumble across a thread like this haha.

I remember been around 8/9 ish and I was standing in my nans kitchen, she had a phone on the wall (anyone remember those haha) and I was stood next to it looking out of the kitchen towards her bedroom (it was a bungalow) and a all black figure came out of the door and started walking towards me. I screamed and it went away. No idea to this day what it was and no one had lived In the house before as they bought it when it was built.

my mums been to a spiritualist church and thought my grandma had come through to her as she mentioned something specific, that she saw her reaching into a tin and breaking a kitkat in half, my grandma always had a old celebration tin full of kitkats at the side of her chair.

my grampa passed a couple of years ago and I miss him terribly, I dream about him often but the dreams not usually about him he’s just there in it. I see robins sometimes but I know they can be a cliche. I’ve asked him for help getting jobs but the universe must not like that as it’s never worked out. I would love something from him to know he’s around though. Guess it’s just a comfort thing.

Little update to my encounter with my deceased mum, another day I was livid with everything. So I said out loud to my mum this is all your fault if you’d just gone the Drs we wouldn’t be in this mess. Don’t come and see me again I’m pissed off with you any way I was up most of the night just seething in bed and she appeared next to me and said you need to go to sleep the little ones will be up soon and then she just vanished? I know it sounds mad and I was stunned. She hasn’t been back since and I don’t know if it’s because I told her not to? I wish I could just have one more day with her.

Me and my mum went to one about 7/8 years ago and she was so accurate it’s unbelievable. I don’t use my actual name on social media and don’t post anything so I don’t know how she found things out x

Based on my own limited experience of mediums and odd experiences. The dark shape you saw could have been from what was on the land previously. My own experience of this was that living in a 9 year old house and having 2 entities in the house - one from a one storey property and the other from a 2 storey property from that piece of land, I was informed by a medium that they had lived there before, and despite my protestations that it was a new house!!! it seemed it was so.
The KitKat example is exactly what your dear departed say, so that you know it's them. Some random thing that only means something to you, and not something that can be researched by someone looking you up.
I've always gone by personal recommendation for mediums or from a medium you respect.

This isn't a ghost story as such but I just wanted to voice it... It could be a huge coincidence.
But...
My FIL recently died due to Alzheimer's. Horrible horrible condition but I digress.
The official flower of the Alzheimer's soc is forget me nots. Since he died, I'm seeing forget me nots everywhere.
We have a small wildflower patch on our back garden and we've just put a few things in there to remind my boyfriend of his dad. Yesterday, I noticed some beautiful white forget me nots in the wildflower patch that have literally just bloomed. We've never had them flower there before, ever.
We've never had forget me nots in the garden before, this year was going to be the first year we planted them and none of the seed packets I have contained forget me nots as I checked.
I'm so aware it could be a massive coincidence but I really hope it isn't.
This has really resonated.
I lost my Dad a few years back. I’ll hurt forever and it still seems like yesterday when he was here.
We’d never had forget me nots in our garden in all the years we’ve lived here.
Until the spring after he passed. They popped up in all of the borders out of nowhere. And we’ve had them every year since.
I definitely take it as a sign ❤

Oh wow. That is so beautiful. I'm definitely taking it as a sign.
I didn't know they could even be white so it is not something we would choose to plant. The only ones we have planted this spring are the deep blue ones.

On a side note, grief is so horrible. I hope you are doing ok. Life is so unfair sometimes

Thank you. Hope you’re doing ok too.

Not a ghost story as such but I’m really freaked this morning. The alarm on my phone went off at 05:50 (I freaked out further when I realised it’s the 5th of the 5th!)
I didn’t set it - the ring tone was the default alarm one and not the one I usually use. Plus I checked my alarms and there wasn’t one set for that time.
Don’t laugh but I’m jittery at the moment and I’m scared it’s a bad sign 😂
Would love to think it’s a message from a loved one but I can’t make those numbers fit with anyone.
So weird!

I was listening to a You Tube video yesterday whilst cooking and the lady on there was on about this.

I wasn't paying massive attention, though, with cooking a new recipe. However, when I eventually sat down for a rest this other video came on which really spoke to me, due to my visiting a psychic recommended by a medium to me. She got my mum through and it was everything my mum was telling me to do encapsulated in the video.

The first video led me down a bit of a rabbit hole looking at some of her other readings.
In one of them she predicted something which, if true, would be something I’ve been praying to happen.
I felt like I was meant to see it, so thank you for posting 🙏 😊
