God I cringe each time the timbs and nasa crop up.

Give him his due the editing is usually pretty good but I hate how he cheapens his videos with the 'a few moments later' inserts.

And the drone use is so obvious in his hand. To me, if you can see you're operating a drone in the video, then don't include it.

Agreed,

He always speaks like he’s reading off a script, where he inserted as many words as possible to make himself look smart and eloquent but just ends up looking like a pompous try hard.

Has anyone figured out his real job/former job? I see in another thread that someone mentioned his parents live in a very posh area. So there’s likely family money but there are lots of guys doing the same trips with far less views so he’s not filming anything unique.

Rocky Mountaineer, Orient Express, train across Canada, Queen Mary to NY - these have popped up in my recommends so many times I wonder if anyone on board is not a YouTuber!! But the other channels do not get the millions of views. Makes me wonder if he has a background in marketing or something because his success is baffling to me.

Take the train across Canada. Jeb Brooks, Wingin in with Paul Lucas, DownieLive all did this same trip. Trek Trendy gets 5 million views. The others do not! The content is nearly identical in them all.

A Disney vlogger shared their earnings for 1million views and it was about $10,000 for 1 million. These travel vloggers would have to be getting more than that since they (and often their spouses) seem to be living off YT alone and with a fraction of Trek Trendy’s views.

Hopefully someone has some more insight into him because I’ve been looking at his views and wondering what I’m missing for a long time 😂

Yeah he lives in Dorset near Bournemouth, and if it is sandbanks that's one of the most expensive places to live not just in the UK, but the world.

I wondered if it was IT. It would allow remote work and be well paid.

His channel name doesn't really make sense either. I swear he used to have a website and it looked like some sort of travel company or something.

I agree his content is all very samey to others. And some (downielive) do it better than him. I don't quite understand why youtube favours him so much.

Whenever people ask him on IG about his "real job" he insists travel vlogging is his only job. I can only assume he throws everything onto a travel credit card to get the points to fund the next trip, and so on and so on?

He also needs to get bigger jeans or hit the gym more. The squished in skinny Jean look so your waddle along hasn't been in fashion for years

According to his youtube his channel has had 140,320,244 views. So actually if a million views gets you £7000 to £10,000, he is on yo a great winner. You could be talking over a million pounds so far

There is no doubt in my mind he has had a lot of help from the bank of Mummy & Daddy and if you watch his earlier stuff he sounds so much posher.

Taking the low estimate of £7000 per million views, 7000 x 142 = £994,000. So it's possible he is funding it all himself. He's likely earnt around £1million.

Whether he had help early on I don't know.

But that's crazy when you think the majority of views have been since the pandemic (that's when his channel took off) I wonder if travelling during the pandemic helped him get ahead on the youtube algorithm.

When you put it all together like that the numbers make more sense. For Trek Trendy and for the others where whole families seem to be living off YT only.

I still don’t get it though tbh. The name doesn’t fit the content, the NASA thing is so annoying, the skinny jeans are cringe worthy and his trips have been covered by others. He’s also more inclined towards shots of his boots going up the steps of a train than anything substantial. I guess YT is the new showbiz though. There’s lots of actors and singers that make me go “why” too! Of all the people who tried to make it this guy has an acting career 😂 Maybe Trek Trendy isn’t actually a real mastermind of the algorithm and he just got lucky!

I honestly think, for all the 'experts" out there, much is down to luck. People all do the same thing, follow the same tips and strategies and some hit big, some don't.

With Trek Trendy I really think travelling during pandemic did it for him. He was only one making content. Morally it's highly questionable, and he really comes across as entitled in some of his pandemic era ones, complaining certain things are missing etc. But it did give him a platform in a very quiet market.

And his videos are also actually pretty good, aside the issues we've mentioned (plus the plastic gf). He does show off the product well, so his engagement is probably pretty strong

There definitely used to be a website but even when it was up it wasn’t entirely clear to me what the business model was. Travel agent? You couldn’t book anything from what I could see. Travel advisor? Maybe. What it definitely was doing was promoting deals at resorts and hotels so maybe there was some sort of sponsorship going on?
His top 5 most viewed vids alone have 40m views. I’ve heard him promote a travel agent “friend” who he’s driving business to so there will be a deal behind that. No idea what his engagement is like on Instagram.
I un subbed ages ago because it’s just the same unrelatable content all the time. I do watch but I’m not waiting for them to drop. I do think he’s engaging and the cheeky chappy wearing Primark NASA sweatshirts and ripped jeans in a $10k first class flight is an angle that will appeal to some. But when they start introducing the partners/family into the mix it all starts feeling very self indulgent. I don’t want to see his dad eating steak or look at his girlfriend’s very large a waggling around in front of me in a train aisle.

he is an absolute bleeping tool but it was nice that he let Millie speak in this most recent video (he does seem to talk to her/about her like she's a toddler lol)

She is a bit...vacant though. She's probably lovely and just doesn't like being on camera. But it's always a forced grin and wide eyes with her.

I can't work out if he has always been a tool or if the success has got to him, but I don't enjoy his videos like i uses to.

Actually, travelling everywhere during pandemic and witching about service levels not being what they were. And taking a private jet to the antarctic (when I really went off him) ....he's always been a tool 🤣

oh for sure, him and twit Philips jaunting around during 2020 pretending it was for "work" was in very poor taste

Yeah, and I have moral issues with private jets being able to take rich people to antarctic which should not be commercialised for tourism.

Actually I think Paul has a point. Some of his shots (e.g drones following him and you can see the remote) and editing (e.g. a few moments later) are a bit cringe and cheapen his videos.

As are the nasa and Timms comments, it's a bit twee and cliche now
