Props to you mamaWanna chime in and ask from mother to mother.. did you feel guilty having to send your son back to school? We’re you anxious over the virus or any school protocols when sending him back?
I am starting to get to the point where I have to put my feelings aside as a failure and feelings of being guilty I couldn’t handle virtual schooling to the side for the benefit of my son because he’s failing from falling behind on assignments.
I mean, the assignments are outrageous! A reading, writing, math assignment every day on top of Spanish class 3 days a week that comes with assignments, music class one day a week that comes with an assignment, art class one day a week (no assignments) gym class three days a week (he hasn’t been able to attend virtual because his gym class is at 7:30am and I’m not having my son jump around the house when his sister doesn’t get up till 9am. We tried the first week and it disrupted her schedule and so his grade for that class is non existent) ALSO, his gym class assignment TWO assignments a week that have to be done outside on the weekends and video taped. This past weekend I had to set up homemade target signs on a tree or side of the house and record him stepping and throwing because his gym teacher wants to know he knows how to do that. He’s a fucking wild ass boy! Of course he knows how to throw a damn ball. He gets exercise. I mean,
it’s crazy. I am NOT exaggerating, I can even post his schedule lmao
My son is 5 years old. It’s like a damn college schedule!! Kindergarten is supposed to be fun and it’s feeling a chore for both us.
Just wanted to some insight since you seem to have gone through something similar! Nice to know I’m not the only one struggling with virtual!![]()
I was deffff scared to send him back. My husband and I had decided to keep him home just to be safe also why not ? I’m a stay at home mom..but...my husband is in construction and works all day..doesn’t get back until late. I have to cook, clean,we have 2 dogs and a cat so on top of my two kids In which my 3 year olds is wild af let me just say lol but yeah I also look after Our pets, walks etc. laundry which is a lot and almost seems like it never fucking ends LOL and then virtual was just a whole other thing on top of everything I already deal with and I felt like he wasn’t learning as much and I already felt so bad that towards the end of kindergarten he missed so much school because we were in lockdown! So I felt like I couldn’t be there for him 100% and give him the attention he required because I also had my three year old and his needs so I felt like he fell so behind in virtual and it killed me because I couldn’t see him fall behind. As much as the teacher tried to help virtually , a parent is still needed. He was just starting to learn how to use a damn laptop lol so it was inevitable I had to be there but it got hard. Emotionally especially!! So when I made the decision for him to go back it was hard but I knew it was the better thing for him in my situation. his school has been following every protocol and I love how on top of things they have been. I also felt bad because my 6 year old has to wear his mask all day and ugh I hate it he doesn’t seem to mind but I feel so bad for the kids! Stupid Covid. But anyway that was my experience with it! And I totally agree! I feel like they’re trying to be so advance with education with the kids but for example my son went to jr and sr kindergarten and I deff felt they could have learned more than just playing with toys maybe incorporated more reading and writing perhaps because once my son went into first grade he was expected to know all these things that developmentally his brain wasn’t even ready for not taught much about in kindergarten...so it’s a struggle for sure. Also to add he’s in French immersion so that’s the cherry on top over here lol good luck mama you know what’s best! You got this
