Literally just found out that there are glasses for white wine and different glasses for red wine 😮. Who knew that was a thing 🤷‍♀️
i wasn't aware of this either! but it reminded me of the fact that my partner was 34 when he learnt that soup spoons exist, and they are specifically for eating soup - as opposed to the rounded dessert spoon shovels he assumed they were when he first saw them, y'know, for occasions when you want to scoop huge spoonfuls of dessert into your mouth! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Most people probably already know this but the bodies of those who die climbing mount everest are left on the mountain. When there's a period of warm weather some of the ice melts and reveals hidden bodies that have been there for years and climbers pass multiple dead bodies during their climbs 😕
I found this out recently too. There’s a climber they call Green Boots and his body is commonly used as a landmark

That the leaves higher up on a holly tree are smooth and not prickly.
The lower leaves are only prickly to stop animals eating them which is not necessary for the leaves out of reach.
I will have to check my tree! 😁

the japanese have a word for everything!
it's similar in German, in that they have words or phrases that we don't have an English translation for.

Schadenfreude - this is a word used to describe the joy felt at other people's pain.

Kummerspeck - a word which translates into English as "grief bacon" and refers weight gained as the result of eating excessively when you feel sad.

Ohrwurm - translates as "ear worm" and used to describe the situation when you get a song stuck on repeat in your head that you can't stop singing over and over again!

Chris Martin from Coldplay great great grandad is responsible for the clocks going back and forwards every year. He thought it would be a good idea to make use of the extra daylight. It isn't thought that Coldplay song clocks is inspired by his relative though 🤭

Today I learned that ice cream van drivers are only allowed to play their jingle for 12 seconds....and only when they are stationary.

he wasn't responsible for the clocks going back/forward, as the change wasn't implemented until during WW1 as a way to. conserve energy, which was after his death - but prior to that, he did create a petition for daylight savings time to be introduced, and was so determined that the clocks change so people could take advantage of the earlier sunlight, he campaigned for eight years! although apparently, his enthusiasm was based predominantly on the fact that he was unhappy that his golf game was cut short when the sun went down! 🤣🤣

The letter "E" is the most used letter in the English language according to my tutor. And I checked on Google and it appears true.

Did we get our traffic light system from peppers? 😱
I feel like it would be the opposite way round though. As in, "stop! That green pepper is not ripe or even vaguely edible yet. Okay, go! The red pepper is perfect and needs to be eaten" 🤷

That the lyrics are “dog days are over” on that Florence + the machine song, not “dark days are over” 🤪

That the percentage on the weather doesn't mean the chance of that weather, it's how much of the forecasted area will receive that weather

So if it says for example
Rain - 40% of Manchester it means that 40% of Manchester will get rain
not that it's a 40% chance
WHAT?!
