Yeah, talk about oversharing. In FOD’s latest story he’s comparing the Gherkin to his ‘area’ and MOD’s posting about counting orgasms instead of calories. GIVE IT A REST, GUYS! We get it. You’re still having sex. It’s all a bit popular kids in the sixth form. They think they’re uber cool and everyone’s jealous of them, but in reality everyone is sniggering behind their backs.
Still having sex? Or maybe not. Now that they have reduced themselves to a sideshow/business it's the story that matters, not the reality. Seems there is no depth they won't plumb as they spiral towards obscurity.

She kept on following me then I’d follow back then she’d unfollow the day after then week later follow me again then I’d follow back then she’d unfollow me the day later so I blocked her! Follow me because you like my feed not because you want a follower. Another money driven egotistical ME ME ME instamum ugh!
I just found thelongmum through here think she might be my new favourite she seems really funny & honest
Tobyandroo did this to me too a million times, as did London_dad and shellthelittles - I don’t expect a follow back but when they do this it feels like they’re tricking you into following them in a way

Follow/unfollow is a shady tactic used to increase follower numbers without buying them. You can get bots that do it automatically. They are indeed trying to trick you into following them.

Anyone else follow thelongmum? I've been following her for ages and it's been really interesting seeing her start getting gifted stuff as her folllwers increased.
I do and noticed this too. I expect she's banking on this to help her financially. Which good on her but I I hope she doesn't just start to morph into all the rest of the instamums

Catching up on my insta mums, really feel for TMS & the struggle to balance school drop offs, a part time job, and attending instagram events. I don't know how she copes 🙄
She is just so incredibly tedious

Does anyone follow The Frugality? In her latest blog linked on her insta page she’s talking about money and says on a salary of £30k (and being the main breadwinner) it’s possible to put her baby in nursery, buy a house in North London that must have cost upwards of £600k (I reckon), renovate it, and still have money left over for a cheeky Nando’s now and then o_O

Don't forget, an influencers salary is boosted by the freebies. There is a lot of gifted clothing (adult and baby), shoes, accessories, furniture, home accessories, framed prints, even flowers (bloom & wild seem to send out a lot to bloggers), food (hello fresh anyone?) make up, toiletries, beauty treatments, nights away in hotels, brunches & free lunches at products launches. This is all stuff the mere mortals would have to pay for if they wanted any of it. I'm talking about bloggers in general, not just The Frugality, who I think is quite honest when it comes to ads/gifts.

The Frugality must have a thriving business though. Pays herself a 30K salary/dividend, presumably her husband gets paid something from it too, rent on an office, staff, etc.

She seems to have lost direction - she’s gone off the boil fashion/style-wise and almost seems to resent doing what she does.

Not sure I agree with your last sentence @motherofdonkeys and I’ve seen some ill judged comments she has made on other feeds contrasting influencers to magazine advertising and celebrities so I don’t believe she has bought into the need for transparency at all.

Assuming her lifestyle is padded out with a bunch of freebies then it’s insulting to people who don’t have that to suggest that they can get a house like hers, full of West Elm furniture and ripples bathrooms, Aesop soap and designer clothes and put their kids into day nursery on 30 grand a year in London. You can’t! Otherwise more people would do it. She should be costing out what the freebies save her as well, and then what she says re budgeting may be more credible.

we did have help in gaining a mortgage (I bought it with my dad and we eventually bought him out and paid him back)

🙄
From the blog comments. Well there ya go. Bank of daddy to the rescue and not just an astonishing ability to budget better than everyone else.

It's balls - I'm pretty sure they have made some good property decisions (as well as having seemingly endless energy and a fantastic eye for DIY/ renovation) but a salary of £30k does not buy their lifestyle, however much they might only spend £40 a week on food shopping (does anyone else reckon she is the sort to snaffle the canapes from a press breakfast to feed them all for the rest of the week?). Utter balls - she clearly gets enough freebies to pad out her salary/ be able to sell when she needs to (I'm sure she has alluded to selling things before when she's needed money for holidays/ renovations and I wonder how much of the thing she has sold have been gifted).

Has anybody listened to the ‘friends with recipes’ podcast? Instamums who haven’t a clue about cooking talking about cooking.
I've been avoiding that one as I can't stand Hungermama - she is desperation personified trying to carve out some (any) sort of social media career and cosy up to the SE London IG Mama elite.

Agree. To the point where she came onto the old MN threads and said we’d been talking about her when she hadn’t even been mentioned up to that point and nobody had heard of her anyway!
All publicity is good publicity for these people.

I do think Hungermamas podcast is bit rubbish she shouldn’t have concentrated on doing it with instamums as there’s not much love for them anymore only amongst themselves

a salary of £30k does not buy their lifestyle,
It’s utter bullocks. You’re telling me people can buy a flat in tooting, do a loft conversion, then buy a house in zone 3 and spend £40k on renovating it (according to this article ?https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....renovating-on-a-tight-budget-a126431.html?amp)

All on a salary of £30k plus what your husband (not the main breadwinner) brings in?

By making your own sandwiches and coffee instead of buying them out?

I hope she’s going to be transparent about the parental leg up the property ladder, the freebies and the gifts she sells that pad out her salary of £30k because it’s completely misleading otherwise.

Going back to Life As Our Little Family, who I hate followed for a while then unfollowed - I just went back to have a look at her feed after reading about her on here and have seen she’s set up a business. Eyes rolled, as I thought right, how has she managed to make a business out of this influencer bull, but she’s actually an experienced financial recruiter and has set up her own consultancy. I’m genuinely impressed and mildly relieved - hope she makes a success of it.

I do also love the way she speaks about her son. As awkward as is it when she has him on camera, and as much as I don’t agree with that, she clearly adores him and that must be so much more empowering for him that posting about his crappy trousers and failed potty training a la FOD.

You’re right it is very sweet. Without sounding mean, it’s all a bit basic viewing but if she’s started her own company kudos for her. If her company was doing social media I would be like ???? How is she getting a following from doing this am I missing something? Also not everyone I suppose wants to see cool London hipster mum life in Rixo dresses and at Soho House. Quite nice to see someone just go to Costa and really look forward to seeing her son and not moaning about it or eye rolling to the camera.

Is Life As Our Little Family the one who wrote that blog post about the ‘tit’ mum in the coffee shop who let her kid watch an iPad while she gave all her attention to her little darling (or something similar)? If so, I can’t stand her. It is sort of sweet how much she loves her son, but no need to put other parents down like that.

I’m not sure if so no that’s not cool

I’m sure it was her although I can’t find the blog post. There was a long thread about it on MN that she got pulled and the name and the blog post crops up any time there’s a thread about Instamums on MN. People have long memories 😉
