I remember watching an interview with Anthony Bordain in which he said something like people always ask why they can't get their food at home to taste as good in a restaurant and the answer is basically always how much butter they use which you'd be horrified to add at home 😂
Yup same response I got when I was wondering why everything I eat out is double the calories of anything I make at home 🤣

I’m the embodiment of some people’s hates on this particular thread - used GLP1’s (helped me have confidence to get me back in gym) and booked in for a tummy tuck and breast uplift later this year. Pretty sure I’ll still look like my kids after this elective surgery though… 🤪

Anyhow…back on task…celebration cakes that are heavy on the decoration, light on the cake quality. All the heavy buttercream icing, that clags in my mouth and makes me want to gag. 🤮

I agree on the cakes. I have had several that look the part but taste absolute awful, and I suspect shop bought and added to for a extortionate price. The best one I ever tried recent was my niece's birthday party, done by the woman nextdoor as a favour,it was absolutely beautiful, proper baking

I am usually the family cake baker, but for my uncle’s 60th my cousin splashed out on a very expensive professional cake - no skin off my nose, decoration is not my forté 🤣 it looked very impressive but honestly tasted bloody awful.

I think a lot of the time with expensive cakes they kind of assume boone will eat them so just make them look great and don't bother about the taste

Yeah I think with professional cakes all you can ever taste is fondant and buttercream (that’s mostly butter). The actual cake tastes of very little

I hate hyaluronic acid in skincare products. It dries me up into an old prune. Makes sense - it's touted for its ability to attract water, which it clearly robbed from my skin any time I tried it. I'm back on the good ol' blue-tin-Nivea.

With HA i think youre supposed to put it on the skin when it's still a bit wet after cleansing and seal it with a moisturiser.

I don't like HA though as I'm pretty sure it breaks me out 😅

Small Prophets ... I'v tried 3 episodes and tbh found them a total slog. Think I'll give up.
I agree. I really wanted to like it but found it really laboured and trying hard to be whimsical. I also thought the main actor gave mildly creepy vibes.

HA also breaks me out - I always end up with (even more) zits than usual when I've tried it.

Sour dough, can somebody explain the hype. I had some sour dough crumpets, they had a bitter taste. Fortunately I didn’t pay for them, but I definitely won’t buy any.

No idea! And this is going to make me sound utterly twattish so apologies in advance. But I make my own sourdough so don't buy it anymore and mine is miles better. 😬
