I remember years ago when I had to interview and employ people. Never once did I or head office check them,it's just a waste of time, you get far too many to look at for a start.
I lost a job over my previous employer not supplying a reference. The new job said passing probation was subject to references, they requested 3 times, she ignored them. So despite the fact I was actually doing a bloody good job, they let me go because it was company policy.

I'd seen reference requests be ignored by her in the past, purely because she couldn't be arsed, and I'd never given her any reason not to give me a good reference. So I lost a job due to someone's laziness and a ridiculous policy.

Bachelorette/bachelor parties, wedding showers, baby showers, etc.

Sorry but you get one day...not several months of attention and several gifts. I also think registries are downright rude and greedy. It's also pretty ironic how dual-income households expect their single friends to fund their lifestyle, and it never gets reciprocated!

Music on speakers. Everybody and their dog has one of those stupid bluetooth speakers and they think people love hearing their shitty playlists out and about. Be quiet ffs.

Plastic surgery, filler, botox, etc. It's wild to me that people can just request this stuff for no reason and a doctor is like "okay!"

(exception: I think reconstructive plastic surgery is fine though).
As someone who relies on lipreading, there is nothing more distracting than lips fill of filler🤣

This. Every celebration has turned into a cash grab. I'm happy for my friends' milestones but jfc how many gift registers and big expenses in a row a person can bear? And if you never get married or don't have kids, forget ever being celebrated or supported in return. Fat chance of even getting so much as a thank you text either.

After a bunch of ex-friends for whom I've forced my ever tightening budget, I'm fresh out of fucks to give. I'd rather not be invited.

Tribute acts. Especially when it's a particularly naff one at a local free event. Paul from down the road shoving on a very slightly sticky fake 'tache off Temu and warbling out We Wil Rock You omg just stop 🤢 embarrassing just typing it out

I got invited to Disney Paris by a School mum I quite like and thought was normal. I assumed the children were going so when invited i said ah I'm not sure my two would enjoy it to be honest, they're not really into Disney. You'd have thought I'd shit on her Cornflakes, she was so annoyed I'd assumed it was for children and told me her and 'the girls' go all the time, she's never taken her 6 and 3 year old!

A neighbour who Id loosely call a mate, went for the first time with her husband a few years ago and has made Disney her whole personality. Constantly posting countdowns to the next time she's going, loungefly(?) bags, Disney suitcases, red and white polka dot nails even when she does her obligatory story from the gym it's captioned "getting skinny to meet minnie"
