Spot on! And yes Claire, people do “plan” gaps in the sense that you either want kids basically born in the same year or you don’t and you act accordingly. Because it’s not like a practice thing where your body gives you a few months of trying and then goes yep now it’s time! You have as much chance conceiving in the first month as you do in the fourth or fifth you twit.

But I guess we all now know why she raced back to work full time again.

No shade to people that like their babies close together, but baby boy is still a glorified potato. I don’t understand rushing into another baby when you have no idea what’s coming.

Can’t plan for an age gap? Uhh…you can? No guarantees of course, but I sure as tit didn’t want two under two, so we didn’t . Then we wanted a longer gap between two and three, so we started trying when #2 was older. How is that hard to understand? The follower also said HOPE for a close gap. Clearly the answer is YES, with Clare’s age being a factor.

She said baby 2 was conceived when baby 1 was 4.5 months old…. Far out, I was trying NOT to get pregnant when my kids were that age (and for many months after!)

If she had even half a brain she’d know that minimum age gap recommended is 12 months between pregnancies. 37 is at the older end, but not ridiculously urgent that she should have started trying so early. I wonder if it was actually a whoopsie

I can only imagine how impressed her colleagues will be this time around because I assume she’s gone back to the same job she can’t actually do while she’s pregnant and will still be living in the free house that comes with it. Also explains her dig at peoples comments about her returning to work full time without “knowing the reasons” - the reasons are you’re a money hungry mole who wants another round of maternity leave at full pay!

Yes first time around she was complaining that “geriatric” pregnancy was an outdated term and plenty of people have babies much older but now she’s like “oh I’m 37, must pump out another kid now”!

Most government type jobs only require you to have been working there for 12 months before you take your first lot, after that you just need to have returned to work before you can claim it again. They also pay leave at the rate you’re on before you take it so if she’d gone back part time like most people tend to do (at risk of sounding like her, I know some people have to return full time to pay their bills but we know she has no such bills) her maternity leave would get paid at a part time rate. As it is, she’ll be back at work for a few months on light duties then off again on full rate. Bit rude really.

I have no idea how she’ll go with a baby finally on the move and in toddler hell (lots of supervision still required, drops naps) and then.. a newborn. The toxic positivity schtick is disturbing. We already have poor postpartum mental health support in our culture. 2 under 18 months is a bleepin’ lot. I would hate for someone watching to think they don’t feel the same as her so there must be something wrong. You can be blissfully happy and feel grateful to have two young children, but let’s not pretend it’s a walk in the park. Does she even have any help?
