The next James Bond

I know most people hate Die Another Day, but I honestly kinda like it for it's sheer naffness, campness, ridiculous story and the attractive Korean guy. 😂😂
Die another day has some real strengths in Rosamund Pyke and Toby Stephens, and the Korean guy. I really like the theme song too. Even Madonna wasn't THAT bad for a small scene. For me it was the terrible CGI that did it for me. But I'd still take it over most of Daniel Craigs lol

But I'm one of the odd ones that actually likes Quantum of Solace

For all Daniel Craig was a great Bond, he only had 2 genuinely great films in Casino Royale and Skyfall. Not many big budget, dark, action films could basically do Home Alone as your third act and make it work.

NTTD had a good idea, but was poorly executed. Phoebe Waller-Bridge gave me hope of more humour in the script, was still lacking. And the editor/writer/director that didn't cut/rewrite the scene at the end where M and the others toasted to Bond - what a clunky awful scene that was.

Spectre just was doing gymnastics to integrate Spectre back into the franchise after getting the rights back. Completely stupid.

QoS, writers strike, ruined that before it even started.

My thoughts exactly. I was so thrilled after Casino Royal came out. I really thought we'd struck gold with Craig.

As for NTTD, they lost me the minute it was obvious Bond had a child. No, no, no, no. Absolutely not. Then they killed him and I was done.

Yes I had a longshot on Nicholas Hoult at 100/1 riding for a few years now based on the profile the Broccolis had been leaking to the press but I think that is probably a lot longer shot now. Cavill is already in bed with Amazon for Warhammer 40k so suspect he might be next.

All very British films which is a plus, but at the same time, not exactly the Bond vibe either ....unless..."The names Bear, Paddington Bear. Marmalade smooth, no bits"
It does make me think about this clip from Victoria Wood's dinnerladies

I would’ve loved to see Fassbender do it. Think he messed up his audition in 04 when Craig got it, and now at 49, perhaps too old?!

The rest is entertainment were hinting that Jacob Elordi was being asked to audition as they want to open the audience up to younger women.

Others along those lines are Callum Turner and Harris Dickinson.

If I was a betting woman I would say Callum Turner would be a good guess.

I'd go for Callum Turner too.

Since Craig was cast all bets are off tbh. That was such a departure from what was expected and the backlash was fierce. I was one of those who was horrified at his casting but mainly because I thought he looked like Albert Steptoe. He turned out ok though :ROFLMAO:

I actually think Alex Hassell would be the perfect Bond if he wasn't too old for their reboot.
He's about 45, isn't he? I think he'd be too old. He'd be near 50 by the time any film got made even if they started preproduction now.

I think they're probably looking for mid 30s at the oldest, which rules out a lot of the names that often get mentioned.

I'd pick Harris Dickinson out of those three. He's doing The Beatles movie though so might not be in the running.

I think he looks 30ish but I think 40s is a good age as you can fully dedicate yourself to the role for years and he can play Bond in his 30s on screen.

ATJ or Sam Heughan are good choices. Are they still in the running?

Jakob Elordi is known with young audiences but the Kardasdian association is bad remember Tom Hiddleston and Swift. The Kardashians Jenner exs all seem to go off the rails after. I think it is PR but its desperate.

Calum Turner is an option and I think he is sexy and mysterious and not exploited as a celebrity.
With a lovely accent too. All James Bond traits.

I think Calum is still unknown worldwide and that is important for Bond. The actor needs to embody Bond without any celebrity BS taking over. Piers Brosnan and Daniel Craig never wield celeb status.
