I have to vent about the downstairs loo ..... the elephant in the room that will not go away ..... WHY is it that there is always only 1 person that she thinks can do a job? There are a number of people around there that could do the coving. I know Amaury has a million things she wants him to do, BUT why not have him do the coving so Selmar can finish so we don't have to hear about that stupid loo any more? That is not a big room, it does have a few extra odd corners, BUT I'm willing to bet that Amaury would be able to do that in half a day, one day MAX. It would be so easy to just knock it off the list ... ugh ...

To answer the question “how are you able to afford the chateau?”…well, here’s how you model your life…hope and pray that your younger brother gets into a relationship with a woman who inherits enough money to buy a chateau. Then, convince them to let you move into the chateau in exchange for “working on renovations.” Then, don’t do any renovations to the chateau…set up a YouTube channel and Patreon account, and take that money to run off and party in Spain! Why is such offense taken when anyone dare question Dan the gardener? This is tattle life right? On one of many Chateau Diaries threads? We all share an interest and come here to discuss how ridiculous, over the top, stupid, fun, unsafe and different life is at the Chateau de la Lande. Everyone that appears on Stephanie’s vlog seems to be discussed here to some degree, even the guests. I personally don’t care for Dan. So what? I think his wife, Annalise, is a saint for dealing with him all the time and his kids are cute. Honestly, I’m happy for his family that he appears to be making more money now than ever before. I’m happy his dumpy house is finally getting fixed up. But is he my favorite person to pop up at the Chateau? No.

Lots of interesting characters come and go. I also don’t care for Heni, she’s just weird. I think Selmar might be a bit lazy. I’m happy he seems to have found love and maybe a chateau of his own that will take him a year to renovate a small loo. Maybe it will get done faster at his place, but I doubt it…

Lots of tattlers have opinions on Stephanie, Phillip, Marie, Gerry, Cat & Ian, etc… Everyone here has opinions and that’s ok, that’s why we are here.

Seems odd, as a long time lurker who just started posting a week ago that you don't know not to come in guns a blazing right from comment one about not liking Dan!! You should know it is going to be seen as suspicious! Know the room!! You're about 14 comments in.

That said, I have critiqued Dan, he has been critiqued here quite heavily in the past. He hasn't been given a pass.

He's liked because he produces content, he is consistent, he works hard, you can see he's improving his skills, and a biggie, he doesn't push his patreon account. Not to mention he doesn't come from money. He bought a derelict old barn with his partner for 17,000 so they could get on the property ladder.

I do find him a bit cocky at times. I don't 100% like his personality. But I do like watching his vlogs and seeing progress in many areas. If you can't recognize how much he's gotten done on his little house in the last year, you must be blind! Yes, there is more to do, but that's the way it is with renos, especially if you live in them, and you're doing it as money comes in.

It was indeed a nasty comment from the thin lips of an aging and insecure sow who at 46 years of age, finds herself alone. Her looks are fading and the only male attending to her is a simpering boy child obsessed with china and stuffed animals. Of course she took a cheap shot at Annaliese by insinuating Dan found better at the shit pile. What she doesn't understand is that Annaliese has, is and will always be a better woman.

MPK gives me the impression that he’s become bored with his channel and wants to move on. He has a short attention span…he’s been a mischievous party boy, hair dresser, make-up artist, painter, chateau renovation TV actor, wall paper designer…and now he’s tired of his YouTube channel. His actions show that he wants to move on…but he likes the money, so there’s the dilemma. Last year he seemed really passionate about his channel. Then, he divulged the reason why he started it…in response to the Pethericks being dropped from the show, and for Angel “stealing” his wallpaper design. He exacted his “revenge” on Angel in his first crying vlog. After that, things went downhill fast…I think it’s probably because once he met his goal (taking revenge on Angel), his passion was gone. He’d done what he intended to do and called out the Strawbridge’s…mission accomplished, now let’s do something else. In the meantime, he puts in a halfhearted effort to collect some cash. Or maybe his family is pushing him to keep going but his heart isn’t in it.

Boredom Brothers Productions: next week the Petherdicks will be taking viewers on an exclusive tour of the electrical circuits in Gwen's château, starting with the fuse box. Viewers will be shown how to turn a circuit breaker on and off and which electrical circuits they protect. This will be followed by a detailed description of the provenance of each circuit breaker - where they were bought and the date of acquisition. Michael Petherdick will demonstrate how lights are turned on and off in the château and Billy Petherdick will show viewers how various devices can be operated by plugging them into various sockets. At the end of this electrifying experience, viewers - those who haven't blown a fuse - will be invited to take part in a "How many sockets are there in Begmania?" competition. The winner will receive a framed picture of Michael Petherdick in a bespoke Peter Rabbit costume.

The other thing I keep thinking…there’s power dynamics going on, too. In a normal workplace, if a manager made rude comments toward an employee in front of his/her coworkers, what’s the employee’s recourse? Go to Human Resources and file a complaint…or refuse to be humiliated and quit. In the case of Chateau Diaries, SJ is the boss of the “workplace”…ultimately, she calls the shots. So, when she makes rude comments, it puts everyone in a weird place. In Dan’s case, he feels secure and confident enough to push back. But others may not feel as confident. What’s their recourse? There’s no Human Resources. So, they can just smile and “take it,” or walk away and quit. SJ has a lot of power in that respect, and I’m sure she likes that.

Sadly she loves the control she has over people. Look at Marie, always crawling back. I think in the long run it will bite her in her ass. She films so much of her stupidity that it's out there for all of us to see. The last straw for me was when she asked Dan to cook for her guests? Really SJ? You have money rolling in every month, hire a fuking catering service.

I think you're right. Not many of these proposed projects get finished, so the money allocated to them is sitting in a bank account somewhere. Maybe she'll sell the chateau and disappear into Europe with the dosh.
A Bleak Vision
I'm beginning to see the future clearly now. The live chat superfans are gathering for the gift grab 6 hours in advance, a message pops up about an unavoidable delay, Philip is giving the kiss of life to a poor sick hedgehog that he's (kidnapped) found.
The fans chat about how wonderful (St Francis), sorry, Philip is with animals.
Hours go by, then days. The fans believe its all due technical difficulties and send money for a new WiFi system . Still no word. They turn to the other vloggers. Dan is still chirply vlogging but seems to be working as a chef in the Dordogne now? Selmar is in Nice working as a kitchen porter? Marie has been floralising every cafe and restaurant in West Yorkshire.
One fan investigates and finds the Chateau had been sold to a company specialising in nursing homes. No one believes it, and for years to come they pour their money into SJs account, continue to send their lovely gifts to Lalande, where they pile up outside the gates, rotting. They turn to YouTube every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday hoping against hope to see dear Stephanie.
Hedgehogs continue searching in vain for Philip. Brenda's coach trips try to get in through the locked gates. The vegetable garden is buried under weeds. Fans who booked B&B sit stunned by the chapel with their luggage , but refuse to accept Stephanie has gone. A bleak future indeed!
That's what you get when you turn an airhead into a goddess!

Hello everyone. It really is an entertaining soap opera, but I didn't understand this frenzy when opening the toolkit for Dan. I felt a great embarrassment when all these hands eagerly rushed to all these tools intended for him. It is not very polite or nice.

He does seem very possessive, did I hear correctly that he said " we have x number of windows in room y" when gushing over the tassels? He could / should say "there are...". Just being SJ's flavour of the day toyboy (allegedly?) surely does not justify this attitute? Have his parents invested in the chateau? If yes, bad idea. He should really go back to the Netherlands, complete his education and find a job..but maybe he is also allergic to his own sweat. Rant over, back to you tattlers.

Yes...and I actually cooked today!...LOL...I don't like to cook but every once in awhile I get a hankering for something homemade and delicious (my daughter's idea for dinner is take-out or delivery and my grandson can't be bothered for anything but something out of the freezer and microwaved ) so when I get in this mood I like to cook one of the few dishes that my ex-hubby really liked...pot roast, pinto beans with fried potatoes and cornbread, but tonight it's stew with cornbread...I can smell it cooking and I'm salivating!...We're originally from the south so these kinds of meals were our go-to's...can't wait!!!

I also like to cook (but only when I feel like it!). I love omelettes for breakfast but I had never made one myself…I always thought it would be too hard. But last week I decided I would learn how to make an omelette. Watched a few YouTube videos and realized it actually wasn’t that bad. I bought a good non-stick skillet and started making omelettes everyday to practice and perfect my technique. After a week, I think I’ve got it down! Here’s today’s result…vegetable omelet with cheese, spinach, scallions, mushroom, and tomato. Not too bad for a beginner!
