I agree with your sentiments about celebrating your anniversary. This should be for the couple only as you say, so curious that they choose to have a dinner party with other people. Perhaps they're not quite as in love as they make out?
I recommend you stay reasonably sober (I hope this post isn't too late), sit back at that table and keep an eye on them for signs of any BS on their part. I find people that sprout off about how happy they are, how wonderful they think they're patners are etc etc, are usually feeling the total reverse, wether they know it or not. And you do owe Mrs H that too - work dinners are the most boring on God's earth. Everyone is arse licking everyone else. A bit like at LL. Good luck @Heathcliffe !
Exactly, for most of its denizens and visitors it's Escape FROM the Chateau. Especially our heroine.
Yet that farmhouse in the middle of nowhere could be a gorgeous and comfortable home if decorated in a simple, graceful upscale country style with all mod cons (think Dan's kitchen) without all the frou-frou, bling and pretentiousness (all festooned with Daddy's horrid daubings).
And, if the owners actually became part of the local community instead of using the place as a pitstop on their international travels.

She should not ever have told him her real surname when she met him… If she did. If she did tell him her real surname, how was she to know whether or not he did research to find out if he had hit the goldmine. I think her comment in that one vlog was completely out of bounds but on the other side… I cannot imagine the loss she must feel losing both her mother and father at such a young age. I can see that she would want to have family around her, even though I have heard her speak of her sister. However, the family she ended up with are horrid grifters (some of them or most). I will not include her father-in-law in the mix. He is the only one that has any redeeming qualities imho.
