Ooooo so know those areas! As far as jr. league , awesome!@graciemckitten and @pink roses My family is from the Nashville area…very early settlers east of Fort Nashboro. My great grandmother was widowed young and took in boarders in her house that was on West End and was demolished to create 440.
I was born in the coastal South, we moved back to TN in my teens. After college, Nashville was my place. It was there I bought my first home (just west of 21st near Vanderbilt/Hillsboro Village), had an amazing career, was a member of Junior League, volunteered in the community in a big way and made life friends, I met my husband and finally escaped the city.
Living where I lived and working downtown (first L&C, then Third National Financial Center-think it’s called something else now), I drove down 16th Avenue to go to work. I was far too cool to listen to country music.Until one day I was driving to work, searching radio in my car and heard Lacy J Dalton singing her tribute to songwriters (linked). I don’t know how long the song had been out, but I heard the words and was blown away. I was right there.
It made me realize what a very special place it was and I grew to appreciate the genre. I wouldn’t trade those days for anything. But you couldn’t pay me to live there now.
fan has pitiful connections to people and places. She’s a sad sack. I feel sorry she doesn’t have those kinds of beautiful life moments/memories.
so glad to hear your memories as well!
I went to high school near 21st. / Hillsboro village !
( I collect cookbooks and have about 50 different jr. league cookbooks…love them)
