I discovered CD at the start of lockdown 1. After the first episode I went back and binged watched the whole series. Became a patron at a high level feeling passionate about contributing to a historic building that I would one day love to visit.

I devoured every episode and sent a gift of Wedgwood and toile de jouy fabric which I was thanked for on camera, which I had not expected given the volume of gifts in the summer.

I started to struggle with the live chat and the Loki incident highlighted a culture that I started to question; if I had to label it I would say 'cult-ish'. If you were in you were welcome if you dare ask a question or highlight anything you felt uncomfortable with were jumped upon, vilified and called nasty.

Then came the Christmas party. Again although not "banned" I felt was ill advised given the global pandemic and continued rise in deaths.

I hung on in there as the plans started to move with the renovations. However we are now 3 months on and what do we see :-
Toilet put on hold and priority given to insulating Isabelle's apartment starting the renovations for Gerry's apartment, organising an apartment for Natti (and office) as totally rejigging her own living quarters. Prioritising family and friends over structural issues and heating to preserve the building shows where her priorities are.
As for the number of excursions to other chateaux and long breaks.
The boundaries of employer and employee are completely blurred and inappropriate and irrespective of if you feel they are friends, there are no professional boundaries there all.

It was reported that they all had covid tests for going to le flure, however it looks like Marie has just had her first one going by last nights vlog. This does not sit well with me and I think it is quite irresponsible.

The success of CD has facilitated me becoming aware of a number of other vloggers who are renovating their homes, some are chateaux in France, some are not.

I am preferring to watch YouTube creators who are getting stuck in to their own renovations and have purchased a property and have the funds to renovate as well as clear project plans in place. I feel that the start/stop renovations, the mixed priorities and the having to re-do some aspects a huge waste of time and money.

I warmed to Stephanie and felt invested in her journey at the beginning. However as my journey with her continued I became more disillusioned with what she put out, noticing passive aggressive behaviour, subliminal messages of hardship and needing more funds, bullying of others, a flagrant disregard for others health and narcissism. I must add that not all the above are in connection to one person, but to the edited content that has been published on YouTube.

The last resort for me was the live feed last night. It's all good and well having moderators but if the are part of the 'cult' then they are in effect useless. I will disclose that I was instrumental in getting the chat moderated following a complaint I made to Stephanie herself which she delegated to Philip to answer and advised that he was going to moderate the chat however the bullying and sexual innuendo continue under his watch as well as censorship in the comments.

CD is no longer for me so I am going to respectfully bow out and watch other blogs that bring me joy to watch.

I'm proud to announce that I am no longer a CD patron! I wasn't one for very long and was part of the cheap seats at $5/month. In the beginning my family and I really enjoyed watching the vlogs and the extra patron content was very interesting. In the past several months doubts and questions began to surface and I was glad when I found Tattle (thanks for the suggestion, MP). Patreon asked me why I was cancelling and gave me a bulleted list of reasons to choose from. I chose "other" and added the rant below as an explanation. I feel better now.

I've always been that person that says what everyone else is thinking, but are too afraid to say out loud. Due to several health conditions, I've been in a self-imposed lock down since the beginning of the pandemic, and, therefore have had a lot more time to ponder and to think about certain things. One of the topics that won't leave my mind is the whole situation between MP and D & A. I don't know any of them personally, and none of my comments are meant to be an attack of any kind, against any of them, merely an observation. If you think back to when MP was MIA for a while, and his followers, myself, being one of them, were concerned and wondering where he was and if he was ok. MP then posted a vlog explaining why he had been missing for a while, anyone that follows him knows what I'm talking about, he explained that he had been unable to make vlogs, due to the horrendous treatment he had received from D & A. In particular, how he had been ripped off by them, ie. that A had allegedly stolen his art work and gone on to make a lot of dosh by using, allegedly, his artwork on many of the items that she sells. The whole vlog was M basically crying in his milk, saying how traumatized he was, to the point that he lost all his self esteem and just couldn't bring himself to make any vlogs. This vlog, was made months after the allegedly terrible treatment by D & A. M seemed just fine, was putting out vlogs, and then all of a sudden - he wasn't? I think, and this is just a theory, what really happened was that it was decided by the P family that they could kill two birds with one stone. They needed a reason for M's absence, "let's say M was so upset and traumatized by D & A's treatment that he couldn't vlog for a while", AND hopefully, when followers hear about this alleged treatment from D and A, they will no longer follow them and that will, hopefully, turn other people against them as well. IMHO a genius marketing ploy on the P families part. It worked like a hot damn. Mind you, there was absolutely no response from D & A, they chose to ignore the whole mess and are doing just fine thank-you. M is very talented, in so many different areas; however, I, for one, can do without watching anyone bitch and complain about the terrible treatment they have received at the hands of anyone, particularly when we do not know the other side of the story. I watch vlogs to escape, and to feel better after watching them. IMHO, what it boils down to is M had no idea of the time and commitment that is needed in order to churn out vlogs on a regular basis. He's young and is doing what he should be doing, partying with his friends - on holiday - again.

No, but I now really do think she has a very serious disorder. I would not defend her behaviour as I find the attention seeking and narcissism incredibly irritating and it's just plain wrong to take and spend other people's money for her pleasure. However, I tend to think that the compulsive need to spend and acquire, even down to plants, etc., is not just down to being weak-willed. I think it's a physical disorder in the brain which is triggered for various reasons and it is very serious. Watching her in that antiques shop and at the garden centre, where she rushes round saying "We have to have (this, that and the other...)" without any consideration of whether it's really needed, or how much it costs, or whether "we" might already have it, is behaviour I have seen in others with that condition. It's done to fill a hole which can never be filled in that way and the longer she carries on, the worse she will become, however much we may enjoy being irritated by it. I, like you, am totally put off by the inner goddess stuff, etc., and those methods would never cure something like that. She is really a very pathetic and sad character, and the sycophantic fans are encouraging it. I think it should be possible to be critical but also to consider what some of the causes may be. She needs professional psychiatric help, not self-help goddess workshops.

This is so true! I used to act similar, I was extremely unhappy and trying to fill a void that could never be filled. I couldn't buy just one cashmere sweater, I bought 6. If I found a bag I liked, I bought it in several different colors, same with shoes etc. It hit me when I was cleaning out my storage area and had panic attacks. It was like a suffocating feeling, it felt so good to get rid of everything. Now when I feel a need to acquire something, I go to Pinterest and post it to one of my many private boards. Silly I know, but it really works for me. I look back at what I posted and laugh, I don't even like most of the stuff. The lockdown has been so freeing, I realize I don't need a fraction of what I thought I did.

Sadly true. Its a shame though that someone didnt have the nerve to suggest it to her. Ive watched vlogs from the beginning but there were just so many I missed dozens in the middle but watch now. Its shocking how they have changed and now it seems to be one long cooking / eating. drinking programme with random ;work; thrown in now and then.
Really I know its awful but it has an addictive fascination particularly Marie and her jam jars of flowers which annoy me greatly yet i have to watch it. Is this the thin end of the wedge?

OK I just hate the whole jam jar thing. There should be a law against using jam jars as vases, glasses or as 'bowls' for fruit, yogurt, and granola...

I started watching long before she started her business; long before the pandemic... And I used to never miss a vlog.
Then oddly when stay at home orders came out that was actually when I started getting turned off, unlike all her superfans who absolutely needed her vlogs... I think what grossed me out was all the people gushing about how much they needed her. I don't need her to bring happiness into my life thank you very much. I was watching because I thought it was cool to have a castle and I love the French countryside...
I then stepped up the ladder of evolution to watching on speed 2 because it honestly was not the same quality of content and also I finally got sick of the grift... CCATC did it... Mind you her traveling to 27 countries in one year while crying I am too poor to renovate always nagged at me... Now I move the cursor along the video line thing that shows where you are time wise in the video, until the mini picture shows something that could be interesting... The fluttering from one worker to the next is BORING and DUMB... I have workers in my house, I can flutter at them. I am paying them after all and frankly mine are younger and better looking... I am mostly too disgusted to bother anymore and I am so pissed off about her jolly jaunt to the Dordogne I scowled even during the few minutes I actually watched. Her "work" reason for traveling is pure unadulterated bull . She just doesn't want to stay home.

Until the Shittelaine of Spodes finally feels comfortable enough to share her deepest and darkest secrets about her sudden and traumatic illness, here’s my final thoughts on the matter: stress. Her story yesterday dealt with a whole lot of issues we have been bitching about before. No pregnancy, because she’s still boozing and stuffing her mouth with all the fatty parts of French cuisine. No bedrest needed, so no major injuries from any kind of surgery. No visible scars or bandages, must all be in the head.
A very big clue imho is that everyone around her wants her to stop vlogging, under the guise of being concerned about her health, but lets face it, her amateurism in portraying the characters in her life has poured quite a bit of shit on them (Racist Mummy, Snorting BJJ, Moody Floral Road Kill, Stupid Nutty, Dumbo Selmar, Loser BFF Boy Trotter, Not Very Elusive Nic, Pornographic Daddy, Adulterer Ruth and the list goes on and on). Seems like every single person in her direct proximity will have to put up with being scrutinized one way or the other because of her 15 minutes of fame and the spare change that goes with it.
Mark my words, us tattlers will be blamed for the hardships our precious piece of royal shit is enduring. Welcome to ‘This Is Your Life, Stephanie Jarvis’. She managed to f**k up everybody’s hope of having a peaceful, quiet time in the middle of nowhere. Now that’s overwhelming, isn’t it?

While Stephanie was being celebrated for creating 200 vlogs, Michael didn't even bother to acknowledge his one year anniversary, which was on March 20th. He has generated approximately 59 vlogs in the past year. Some of those vlogs were minutes long, announcing upcoming vlogs, etc. Granted, it's not fair comparing Stephanie's output to his, because imho, Stephanie is one of the hardest working and dedicated vloggers out there. Would have been nice though, for all of his MANY supporters, if he had taken the time to acknowledge them and thank them for giving him the wonderful lifestyle that he has the privilege of living. Hope he is enjoying his time away and staying safe. After all, we are in a pandemic.

Ok, my first gripe. Warning- this is a long story/post. I hope this is allowed?
While watching Chateau Diaries I was suddenly inspired to creat a drawing to send to Cadeaux at the Chateau. It was actually a gift for Cat. The episode had a medieval style costume maker that brought a variety of cloaks and dresses they were all trying on. Cat was quite taken by one outfit in particular, stating that she felt like Robin Hood. Stephanie told her she was Maid Marian and Cat emphatically said, “No, I’m Robin Hood and she turned and pulled back an imaginary arrow on an imaginary bow. That was it! I knew what I just had to do! So I screen shot that moment and created a multi media drawing. The next episode was about Cats birthday and Stephanie giving her that same dress, having purchased it in secret.
So I shipped off my art work, at great cost. I choose fed ex at $126. My choice, and actually, I did receive excellent customer service, getting a phone call from a fed ex employee when it reached New York and went through customs. Then I received a text from the French authorities when it arrived in Calais, and also a copy of the signature of the person who signed for it on November 3rd, only 5 days after having sent it here in Michigan. So I have no complaints about the cost of shipping a flat 11 x 14” piece of paper.
I wasn’t sure when it would appear in a cadeaux episode and they started talking about Cat going home for Christmas, so I messaged Nati about my gift and my concern that she would leave without opening the gift from me, and she responded a week later that they would make sure she opened it soon!
If you’ve stayed with me this long, well, here’s my gripe. More of a disappointment actually. I recently messaged through Facebook messenger asking if Cat had opened the gift and if I’d possibly missed an episode showing her opening it.
Nati responded this morning that yes, Cat opened it before she left for England but they didn’t film it! I was SO LOOKING FORWARD to seeing Cat open it. I’m just kind of feeling deflated. It could’ve been a 10 second clip on a regular episode, or they could’ve recorded it just for me! I put a lot of effort into that work, it’s in pencil, colored pencil, pastel, ink, and embroidered in floss and silk ribbon.
I didn’t do it for the glory, I just wanted to make Cat happy and thought I’d at least see her response when opening it. It was meant as a birthday present. Yes I’m being a baby about it. I guess I was expecting too much. Apparently Stephanie is going to be acknowledging the gift in an upcoming episode, but it’s just not the same. Shame on me for making an assumption, we all know what that means...

OMG!!! I just received a message from Nati and there was a mixup... I’m not sure what happened but they only had Cat open the CARD I SENT!!! NOT THE ART! So my gripe and all that long story was for naught... Now I feel like an idiot even though it’s not my fault. So Nati said she’ll have Cat open it when she is able to come back. See, the card I purchased has embroidery on it, so when Nati read the descriptive note that I put inside (you have to give her an idea of the contents) and I described a drawing with embroidery on it she thought the gift was the card. Am I wrong for feeling a tad bit disappointed again?!
