Congratulations! Love a good news problem. I wouldn’t have thought of splitting it and keeping some secret. It’s a good idea if it feels right for you, because you get to share the celebration energy (I tuck away all winnings, cashback, owt like like, in my global index tracker, so am rubbish at the fun stuff 😄)

Oo congrats! my gran used to be a gambler and she always said if you won a bit money, tell your partner but tell them less than what you got! For example, I would tell him I won £4K and keep £2K to myself so you can still treat yourself, and be sensible.
Excellent idea. I’d even go as far as to give him a grand to spend on whatever he wants.

Congratulations 🥳🥂.

I suppose the question is would you be hurt if he won and didn't tell you? Also where would you hide the bags? 😆.
This is why it was so hard to think what to do! I wpuld be ok if he kept it secret from me. But I do want to share it with him.
I think the first poster had the right idea, I’m going to tell him it was £4k and split that with him 😅

So I told Mr Lolz about the whole win. I just felt too bad. Bless him he was so happy for me. But I swore him to secrecy and then gave him £2k.
I feel so much better. I could nevwr live a life of crime just keeping this “secret” was too stressfull 😂

Anyone good tech wise?

TV keeps shutting off randomly, have tried hard resetting it, putting it back to default settings (although I don't think I changed anything) an have done a reset on the TV itself, but it still shuts off

I wouldn't say it's that old either, around 6 years old an certainly wasn't a cheap TV (I done research to get a good one as I mainly game)

So just wondering if something was causing it or if it's time to replace which am hoping not too, it's a Samsung oled model

Is it the sleep/standby mode it puts itself into? I think with Samsung TVs (at least ours) if it's been paused for so long or left without using the remote for so long it will turn itself off unless you acknowledge it on the remote. I'm not sure if there's a setting for it though. I think its meant to be a power saving thing for if the TV is on when no one is watching it. This might work if you've not tried it?

I get this with my virgin media box bit there's always a warning before it goes off. If you press ok it stays on and it goes off if you do nothing

(I know the OP said TV and not TV box)

Are all the wires secured? Every time my tv does that the cat has fumbled on the wires

I’ve been investigating online, and apparently a HDMI-connected console/soundbar can tell a Samsung TV to power off through Anynet+ / HDMI-CEC, and a factory reset doesn’t fix it. (I btw have no idea what anynet is but I’m dying of boredom today and love trying to fix someone else’s problems)

Samsung says connected devices & power settings are among the main causes of TVs switching themselves off. Try these, recommended by various online sources and keep me posted, I’m invested now:

Unplug absolutely everything from the TV except its power cable, then use app such as Netflix/YouTube for a while. If that works then TV is probs fine and one of the connected things is responsible.

Turn off Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) before reconnecting the console:
Settings >Connection/General > External Device Manager > Anynet+.

Plug the TV directly into a different wall socket, don’t use extension leads/surge protectors.

Check for a firmware update: Settings >Support >Software Update. A factory reset doesn't roll the television forward to newer firmware.

Can someone please make tonight? I've been at work all day and I CBA. Had takeaway last night so not an option 😫

Has it got some setting that turns it off after a certain time? Mine has and there is the option to over ride that. Is it aerial or internet? Is it set to download updates?

It does have a sleep mode but I keep that switched off, an it does also have a inactive mode which gives me a pop up saying that it's going to shut down unless I click no which I do, but these shut downs are totally random, today I had maybe 3 shut downs within around 5 mins of one another, so not enough time passed to trigger a sleep or inactive mode

The wires all seem fine an I always keep it clean behind the unit so no wires are tangled or pulling on one another

Sometimes when I put the TV back after it's happened I get some warning about it can't continue the recording but I've no idea what that means, as far as I am aware the TV can't record anything

I have a feeling it's developed a fault but I've no idea what fault it could be an if I can fix it 😩

Do you have a recordable box?. I rarely watch terrestrial TV but unbeknownst to me I had series linked TOTP2, the box carried on quietly recording eleven billion episodes, got full and took out everything 😳.

Otherwise second check for updates.
