I have to have a zoom call at 7pm on a weekday evening. I won't get any privacy at home so Im wondering where to go . Costa will have closed by then. I'm not sure what will be best between sitting in the car in a car park, Witherspoon or the leisure centre.

What's the zoom call for? That's late! (I say that, I have therapy over Teams on an evening but live alone)

It's like a free introductory mindset coaching thing . There will be other people on the call but only the host can see us , we won't see each other. I have headphones.

If you can get good signal, the car, total privacy

Do you have any library's close by? Some have started to offer little rooms you can use for this, not sure about the times they close though, I know some of mine are open till 8pm but it's rare they are

Anyone suffer with chronic uticaria? The doctors just tell me to take an anti histamine but it’s been going on for a long time and if I don’t take the one anti histamine tablet every 24hrs my skin breaks out in hives and I cannot do anything. I’m just concerned there’s a deeper issue like auto immune illness or something. I also have stomach/gut problems when my skin tingles and the hives come on. Don’t really know what to suggest to my doctor.

Ive had this forever, didn't know it has a name. If i dont take an antihistamine i get very itchy. Literally been taking them for 20 years daily. Sorry that's not helpful to you at all, just interested to hear any other responses!

We’ve been doing a home extension & I bought a lovely dining table from the charity shop & decided i wanted to sand the orangey varnish off and just have the lovely wood (with a top coat of matt wax). Anyway, I made a start on it (see photo) and then loads of stuff got in the way and it ended up neglected under a tarpaulin sheet for a month or so. In this time it’s somehow got wet and i now have a few water marks and small mould spots on the wood. Does anyone know how or *if* these can be removed? Annoyed at myself for starting and not finishing it in one go !!

Need advice on how to approach my boss about this without it coming across as being cheeky or just not wanting to do it

My boss wants me to send out a promotional email to all our clients, which usually is fine, however this promotion is specifically about weight loss, now I don't have a problem putting it on our sites an such, but personally I feel like weight is a sensitive subject for most people an since I don't know what these people will be like I just feel like it really shouldn't be getting sent out as an email to them

If it was a list of different promotions then I'd see no problem with it but it's only about losing weight

Would anyone be offended if they were to receive an email about that? I feel like for some people it's not going to go down well, an I'll need to tell her this tomorrow but am just unsure as to how I can get it across that something like this could have backlash

Try to remove stress from your life. That’s the only way to successfully deal with it

I personally don’t think people will be that bothered. However if you are hesitant then have the conversation with your boss. If she still insists then just send the email. At the end of the day you are just doing your job

Depending on what your company does I probably wouldn't be offended. But people absolutely could take offence, especially if it's the sole subject of the email. Personally I think it would be better received alongside other stuff.

Thanks, to help out, it's therapy am in so we see clients for all issues, ED being one, which is why I am so hesitant about this, I just feel like weight for a lot of people can be such a sensitive subject, an there's nothing going to be in this to break it up, it literally is just telling people to "slim down for the party season" an focuses solely on that

Oh gosh yes in that case I don't think it's appropriate! Is it the kind of thing that you'd be able to find if you went onto your company website? I think it would probably be fine if it was to advertise it to potential new clients, but for current ones already using your services for whatever reason I think it needs to be very delicately done or not at all.

Thanks, yeah this is what I was thinking as well, I'll be in later to talk to her about it, we do have social sites an I have no problem putting it on there as I have done with other specific promotions (we are doing stop smoking this month) as I don't think people would take it personally if it was on the social site, but an email sent out to them will obviously make it a bit more personal an the fact she wants it headlined like that also puts me off because it just sounds so direct

Advice on dealing with aggressive/rude colleagues...

So I posted in the previous thread about a colleague quite aggressively coming up to me in the break room, in front of CEO and deputy CEO, and continually asking me to explain 'why I'd say I'm happy to do something when I'm not'. For context, we're a newly merged team, figuring out roles/responsibilities, she tried to dump a task on me she didn't like and got told by our boss not to do that - thus she was angry at me. I was incredibly shocked and hurt she'd try and maim my reputation in the workplace like that, in front of senior management.

I spoke to my boss about what happened and she said she'd speak to her, as she didn't want to reward that behaviour. Well, she was promoted the week after, to the shock of the team. It was incredibly awkward for all. Everyone sat in silence, shocked beyond words. Half of the team felt their own efforts weren't being rewarded and the other half, who have also had run ins with her, were just pissed.

Since then (we are now at the same seniority level), she speaks to me as if I am her intern. Push back on demands (she asked me to issue a notification to our team, I said we had done one two days ago - no need) is met with indirect accusations I am not doing my job. When I was courteous and did her request, my boss snapped at me for sending too many notifications. So I'm stuck in the middle.

My strategy so far has been to only engage with this colleague for work-related talk. We used to chat and get on well, so this is a big difference. While I was out of the office last week for a conference, she edited a Teams message (so no notification) stating she'd like to 'clear the air with an open and honest conversation'.

My issue is this: I don't see this as an honesty problem. I haven't ever been dishonest, but right from the start, she seems keen to accuse me of lying, or hiding how I feel, etc. My gut says not to enter into this conversation. It also doesn't help that my boss now thinks the sun shines out of her bum. So should I clear the air? Or am I setting myself up for more issues?

Thank you!!

I almost feel like you are in a lose-lose situation. I’d just ignore her apart from any work related issues.
Do not do her menial tasks, like you said you are not her intern. Make sure to follow up everything in writing so there is evidence.
Do not help her even a little. Just quietly disengage

Thank you. I'm a real people pleaser, so I struggle with 'conflict' - and knowing if I am not in the wrong (I always presume I am), but this feels like a dangerous situation to slip up on. The advice is very much appreciated!
