Do you have a recordable box?. I rarely watch terrestrial TV but unbeknownst to me I had series linked TOTP2, the box carried on quietly recording eleven billion episodes, got full and took out everything .

Otherwise second check for updates.
I don't no, I actually don't watch TV, I mainly game an if am not then it's streaming services on the TVs apps like YouTube or Netflix I'll have on, there's no aerial ever been hooked up to it, only the pc an consoles are hooked to it

I've checked for update an it's saying everything is fully up to date, so done a factory reset an redownloaded everything, it's not even giving me a pop up telling me what's causing it like how you would get if a pc crashed

But honestly that's insane yours had been recording like that

I’m not asking for advice as such but is it just me who thinks it’s distasteful for our manager/head to joke about being broke when she earns double our wage which is well above the average salary and she knows we don’t earn like she does. I don’t know what she wanted us to respond to that. So strange and then it’s awkward when everyone goes silent yet a couple of weeks ago was boasting about how many properties she owns. So disingenuous.

I would call her out on it. I work in an industry where the main workforce (including me) get slightly above minimum wage. The management team are on 4 times that, and if one of them told me they were broke, I’d tell them they need money management lessons asap.

I won't tell them to take money management lessons. I'd tell them my wage and to survive on that for three months

Maybe it's me but I'd need to petty an embarrass her like "well maybe cancel your dildo subscriptions for lonely woman" or something

I get people earn different amounts but when people are on a higher wage than others an know this an then come out with things like that, it almost comes across like an intended gloat in order to flex but disguised as a joke

It’s bloody rude and absolutely disrespectful to the workforce.

Very early on in my career I was in a meeting with my Manager, a colleague and a family from our local community we were trying to support. This family didnt have 2 pennies to rub together and my Manager was talking away about her v expensive holiday. After the meeting colleague went ballistic with Manager and told her she should know better.
It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant people are.

We have a manager who has just engineered getting free accommodation from the company so has moved into it and is letting her actual house out. She was bragging about getting a grant to pay for carpets in front of people on minimum wage who can’t afford to live near work when she’s on £60k+ with a free house. Read the room.

I work with a woman like that. Shes nice but totally out of touch Her husband is on the kind of money where his bonuses are more than my annual gross salary. They have multiple properties, kids are grown and gone, always jetting off on luxury holidays. They have a few high end cars.

My husband is long term sick and my wage has to support us and our family, car is tiny, ancient and I pray not on its last legs yet.

When there were restructuring changes at work and we were a bit worried about job security, we were all in the same boat apparently according to her. Not the same boats at all love. Hers is a luxury yacht and mine is a patched up second hand refugee dingy.

I avoid her now.

Not sure if this is the right place but I was given a 24k gold chain for my 18th by my dad, a "few" years ago now.
I've never worn it, it's just not my style. My dad has since died and I'm thinking it would be better to sell the chain and get something I'd actually wear to remember my dad.
How's best to go about that? I don't know if I trust all these cash my gold companies but is it something a proper jewellery shop would buy off me?

I think Ramsdens buy gold. Some jewellers probably do buy gold, sure Google would tell you

There are lots of companies that buy gold. You can normally get a price based on a photo and weight.

Does anyone use air tags for their luggage, an if so what ones do you use

Due to go on holiday in two weeks an there are strikes going on, airport itself I don't believe is affected but the luggage part might be an our luggage is supposed to be getting sent to our ship, so figured I'd get airtags to keep a eye on where it is

It's a android phone I have an a few I've seen are for apple, but I also don't know which are good either

I saw someone on IG recommend these but I have no idea if they are any good

I would just get a cheap life360 tile tracker from amazon and test it out. If it doesn’t work you can return for a refund
I use a Tile in my son's backpack (he doesn't have a phone). It's pretty good, but relies on being near phones that have Life 360 on them for the location (which is fine for us as he's around lots of other school kids who have that app when tracking is needed). You can get Android trackers too.

I have a rather silly question. Before we looked at the use by date on a packet of brown rice, my partner boiled it, and we were going to eat it. Then I happened to notice the use by date - 2014! I asked my partner to disgard the rice, and we used somerhing else.

Would the rice have been ok to eat?

No problem, rice weevils aren't toxic or dangerous. I'd be more concerned about why you have 12 year old packets of rice in your cupboard.
