I had someone come to my house for this! Didn’t get a letter before. Luckily I was out when they came. But saw it on the ring doorbell. He had a body cam etc on. I just paid it.

So we’ve received a letter threatening that we have 10 days to buy a tv license or else they’ll send someone round/court summons etc.
How real is this threat? I’m a nervous person so I’m so close to just buying the license for the year to avoid it

we don’t even watch live tv in our house, we just use the streaming apps, I go to my friends to watch bake off etc
They sent a letter once ages ago saying they could tell someone was using iplayer at our address but the only thing I can think of was we logged in on the tv once to check what was on the app and then didn’t watch anything.
Google it in case it’s changed but I don’t think they can prove it and have no right of entry.
If you watch IPlayer you should have a licence but the likelihood of them taking you to court to prove it is very slim. It’s scare tactics.

Bin it an ignore it, an remember they have NO right to entry, it's nothing but scare tactics an they have no more right than a stranger does, if anyone comes round record it an deny enter

There's a few yt vlogs on it, I recommend both chillijoncarne and blackbeltbarrister both of them are quite good at explaining what is now going on which is the BBC sold data including email addresses to a third party an now they are using that data to find email details from those that don't pay a licence, but they don't know circumstances for example, if you signed up for the BBC when staying with parents who had a license but now have moved out an don't require one but still have the same email address, or you signed up when you used to have a license but now don't but again still use the same email

You only need a license if you watch any LIVE tv or any BBC content, if it is only streaming sites you use then you do not need one, an letters are nothing more than scare tactics because the BBC knows they are screwed if more an more people aren't paying for it

I’ve been getting these for the best part of a year. I initially did my bit and registered as not needing a lisence and then they started asking me to register again- I couldn’t be bothered so get a letter every month, sometimes more. They do get increasingly more threatening- I had one saying “will you be in on X date” and saying they’re coming round. Unless they have a warrant they have no right on your property, you don’t have to let them in. I’ve still never had a visit.

Has anyone had diclofenac gel prescribed for a trapped nerve ? I had it prescribed by gp and I’ve found out it can cause heart attacks and stroke ?! The doctor didn’t mention this to me at all nor asked anything else

I couldn’t find a thread for school hell but really need advice please!

Are we supposed to give the teachers a Christmas gift? How about the teaching assistants? What kinds of things do they like to receive? There are 6 teaching staff who look after our class, school doesn’t have a staff room for sharing, what the tit do I do because this could get expensive! 😩
Got teachers in the family an they say that 90% of the gifts end up being donated because they just don't have the room to be keeping everything or really need 20 pens or 10 mugs with "best teacher" on it, so I wouldn't stress, I'd just give the teacher that teaches your kid something like a box of chocolates

I work with the wife of a teacher and she brings in about 10 boxes of chocolates at Christmas and end of July that are gifts her husband/the family won't eat. She said he prefers gifts of beer or wine as they can drink or regift.

For 6 years she bought in a beautiful Christmas cake, as one of the mums made it and decorated it as a gift, but none of their family like fruit cake.

Only if you / child wants to! It's another thing that has just spiralled into something that's the done thing IMO. I only have one child that I need to do this for now (poor secondary teachers don't seem to get this) and I usually send something in, but a couple of weeks before the end of term so it can be eaten before they break up.

It's definitely a hard thing, I know one of my cousins would obvs prefer the drink (she's quite young lol) but she only likes certain kinds which you'd need to know her to know what to get, so she enjoys just a box of celebrations

I do agree that it's starting to get out of hand now, I see all these videos of people doing teacher gifts an added up it must be coming close to £20/£30 which is insane, an its all this personalised stuff as well, classrooms have between 20/30 kids, my family do say they appreciate it but when your getting stuff twice a year from that many they just can't hold onto it

Spilled CC red corrector on a jumper this morning. I love the jumper, just bought it and only wore it once plus it was £45  I sprayed some pink stuff on it and then put it in a wash. It's still there, looks like a bird did a poop all down the front.
Any advice on cleaning it? I'm waiting for it to dry and will then try some micellar water and see if it goes

What colour is the jumper?

I buy it over the counter, it's a tiny dose and you'd have to use tube upon tube at the same time to get any side effects. I find the gel really helps my costochondritis as the tablets don't agree with my poor stomach.

Don't wait for it to dry!

Best stain remover I've found for anything is the Elbow Grease bar, it's only a quid!

The jumper is dry this morning but I'll have a look for the bar.
Its stunning. I would look up Nancy Birtwhistle, she has some amazing tips for these sort of things.
Thank you, I don't normally buy what I consider a "fancy" jumper but it was for Xmas. Will look up the lady you mentioned

Any advice for anyone spending Christmas alone, don’t have any family or friends so entirely on my own this year.

If you don't want to spend it alone you could volunteer at a homeless centre and help out.
Or there are usually groups on fb for those who are spending it alone to meet up

Can you go away at all? I went on a silent retreat last Christmas and it was great. I had company but didn’t have to speak to anyone.

Any advice for managing someone who is passive aggressive and/or straight up rude when receiving constructive criticism. When calling out this behaviour it has only worsened as they have accused me of personally attacking them? HR have been useless, I am dreading each meeting with this person and know they are going to make my life hell again today
