Tesla - Are They Worth It?

I think I’ll have a look at the Audi. We have a Mercedes at the moment but I had an Audi when I was in University and although I didn’t use it a lot, I never had any issues.

Yeah, I have a Mercedes at the moment but its not without its issues which is terrible considering I bought it brand new last year! Like another poster said above, with Audis everything is an added extra which is why I went for Merc as they had a lot of things like heated seats and navigation as standard which fit my budget nicely. Its just looking around but definitely take some test drives! That was my fave part of the car buying process. I cant wait to buy again in a few years

My husband was looking at Tesla a while back but I think he’s gone off of them a bit now, he really wants to make the switch to electric soon as he’s environmentally conscious and his current car is diesel
One thing I really hate about cars at the moment that I think Tesla is responsible for is all the touch screen technology. I am actually surprised it’s a thing as I do think it makes driving more dangerous, I like having the buttons and turn wheels as it makes it a lot easier to do things without needing to take my eyes off of the road.

We drive a Range Rover and Teslas have even more issues than our car according to friends who have them...not worth it imho. The only good reason to get one is if you're really into it and don't care about all the issues.

Well I don’t have one, but there are a couple of people at work who have one. And they love it! But both are abit like mad scientists types so I don’t know if it’s more because of the novelty of having one and not the practicality’s of it. One of them is a single and the other has a family. I can ask them more about it if you like? Normally I don’t really listen to car talk but I could find out their opinions?
Like many other posters have said though, it would be the problems it may create going on long journeys. Just seems abit of a nightmare to me! I’d be worried I’d be forever charging it up! Seems a lot of hassle esp if you used it a lot.
I think it’s more for ‘boys and their toys’ and not really that practical

If I had limitless cash, I'd have an Audi R8, a Mustang and a Volvo XC90 (just for shopping!!)

I've never had a new car, or one with a touch screen whatnot. If you need all that balls, to help you drive, or tell you when your tanks nearly empty, or sensors to help you park, or tell you when your tyre pressures are low, really to be honest you shouldn't be driving at all! I'm happy without the added distraction of it and using my driving skills as they should be used, knowing what my warning lights on my dashboard mean, and knowing what's in my handbook.

I would not recommend the F-pace. I recently test drove multiple vehicles and the F-pace sounded really loud almost bus like with the diesel engin. The salesman was really taken aback when I pointed this out. I said to him that at their price point it shouldn’t be so loud. My friend has Kia which is somewhat diesely and the Jag sounded just as bad.
My favourite was the Mercedes in terms of features and power. I drove the GLE coupe and loved it. Also liked the BMW X4, it’s a bit smaller but great power and features.
I do like the Audi’s but again though they were expensive for what you were getting. Everything has to be an extra on the Audi whereas Mercedes already has most of the items and are a bit more luxury.
Saying all this I’m actually waiting for car prices to drop as they have actually gone up! I like a good deal and at the moment you are paying £2-3k more than a few months ago.
If you can I would say wait untill the new year

You can get a regular petrol engine in the F-Pace. It doesn't have to be diesel. I am not a fan of diesel at all.

I've got a Tesla Model 3 and even though its super fun to drive, really quiet, good for the environment etc I'd only recommend getting one if you don't drive anywhere long distance.. we have another car for those journeys as the charging is a ballache (not sufficient / reliable infrastructure to support EVs) and the real life charge distance is balls. Having said that, it's awesome and the issues faced with it are those faced with any electric car.
