This would have an impact as a returning champion on Centre Court... but she was on 2,000-capacity Court 3 against rank 80I've only just seen a photo of it now, but I'm getting 'bridal' vibes from it too

same!Is there something wrong with me cos I couldn't give a tit about Serena coming back....far more interested in new and current players
yes i just saw her score flash up and thought the same - has she had an injury.same!
also, what has happened to Jasmine Paolini recently!? Out first round Eastbourne and probably going out first round here. She didn’t do well at Roland Garros either I don’t think.
looks like Katie boulter is about to lose the first set too![]()
I don't care either. If anything, I think it's a mistake as I can't imagine she can come back at anything like her previous form, so she's going to be subjected to a barrage of critical comparisons to her former self. And fine, I'm sure she's coming back for herself and not for validation from anyone else (and she's taken more than enough criticism in her time that I'm sure she's strong enough to take it). I just don't get why.Is there something wrong with me cos I couldn't give a tit about Serena coming back....far more interested in new and current players
That'll teach me to not read the full thread before I rush to post my extremely important opinionYeah I loved Serena (and Venus tbh) back in the day, but hyping this comeback the way it has been, is already a tad annoying. Also, women‘s tennis isn’t in the same dire situation as men‘s. There are many exciting young players, actual rivalries and a high quality of play. They don’t really need this kind of hype. If Roger came back like this I would side-eye him too.
This is what confused me last night: why make it sound like boo-ing, when "Wuuuuuu" is begging for an upwards, enthusiastic inflection? "Wooooooooo!!!!" is literally a celebratory sound! If there isn’t any booing in the mix - why can’t supporters shout Wu Wu or Ruud Ruud so that it doesn’t sound like booing?
Or more to the point. why are they shouting out their names at all? Cheer / clap for your player by all means (especially when they win a great point), but why this?
It sounds weird, as you only hear this when the name mimics the sound of booing!
I know the crowd were rooting for both Sinner and Djokovic yesterday, but we didn’t hear their names being chanted.
It really stood out to me at that Ruud match two years ago. There was a rowdy element in the crowd - who were definitely taking advantage of the morose like tone chanting, of Ruud’s name.
My favourite umpire is the one who sounds resounding sarcastic with everything he saysI've only just realised it's the sexy voice umpire at Katie Boulter's match.
She's about to lose the matchsame!

No but Katie Swan should in a few minutes.Has a single Brit made it through the first round?
The other British Katie with an Australian tennis player boyfriend called Alex.No but Katie Swan should in a few minutes.
That sounds fun! I'll have to listen out for him.My favourite umpire is the one who sounds resounding sarcastic with everything he says![]()
she’s coming backShe's about to lose the match![]()
I'm mildly interested due to name factor, but she's 44 now. It's obvious she isn't going to go far. But everyone will be going goo goo if she wins her first round match. Deep down it's all for show.Is there something wrong with me cos I couldn't give a tit about Serena coming back....far more interested in new and current players
