The only potatoes worth talking about is a roast potatoe.

Wedges can be on the bottom tier.

Bin the rest

There is no such thing as bin tier when it comes to potatoes, maybe except cold and stale junk food chain fries or fries made with crappy burnt oil. Those make me heave.

God tier for me is dauphinoise, duchess potatoes and really good fries (with lots of salt and rosemary).

Top tier would be almost everything else. Roasted, mashed, hash browns, gnocchi, sweet potato fries, regular fries, home fries (I toss them with some lemon juice and parsley and it's heaven tbh).

Mid tier I'll only put bland boiled potatoes and waffles or smiley faces (don't attack me, blease). Not a huge fan of those but would still finish my place if I was served one.

I’ve just had some skinny skin-on chips and they were a solid 8/10. Anyone who prefers wedges to any other form of potato, please see yourself out.

Potatoes in soup is god tier and above

Maybe it's a very Eastern European thing which is why I haven't really seen it in Britain

Yes to this, both as the main attraction and to thicken the soup. 🥣

I’m experimenting with the Marco Pierre White method. You boil the potatoes as you like. Then you drain and put in a glass bowl with a few lashings of olive oil and fresh mint. Salt and pepper. You cover the bowl with cling film for 20-30 mins. During that time you can swirl the potatoes around in the bowl a few times. Some nice potatoes.

My mother (irish) will always put potatoes in soup

It fills the soup out and makes it a more substantial meal

This was the recipe I tried for potato curry. You can substitute chickpeas for something else and add other vegetables if needed.. adjusting the spices also good depending on if you like the curry spicy or with a lot of garlic, etc.

New potatoes part boiled then sliced and fried in garlic butter. Not the most healthy way to eat spuds but they're so tasty! 🥰

I usually do extra baked potatoes and put in fridge to have later/next day with eggs, onions, tomatoes and toast. I cook the onions first and then do the potatoes, toms and eggs.

Top tier has to be:

Mash, roasted, crisps, chips, hash browns, smiley faces, curly fries, waffles, croquettes

The rest can go in the bin.

I am so glad this thread has been made I am obsessed with potatoes!
