Reviving this thread for the documentary release!!

Lots of lovely promotion for it, and it's Markie's birthday too ❤

Loved the clip of them meeting The Traitors winner Stephen on the Radio 2 Instagram page - not sure which side fan-boyed most!

Does anyone know what Jason is up to these days? Obviously living a very private life which is what he wanted. Hope he's in a good place.

Wonder if the voice overs were made specifically for this documentary or soundbites taken from over the years? Would be lovely to think Jason had done it recently. Made me sad when he said he was told not to sing 😔 Theres not much I/we dont already know about the TT story but I still really enjoyed it.

It sounds like it was a mixture of both but from what I can tell Jason didn't do any new voice overs? I imagine he was asked and didn't want to. He actually had a lovely voice, Wooden Boat was a beautiful song. Shame he didn't get to show that more.

Binge watched the NF docu!
Quite moving, 35 years of original footage and new interviews with Gary Howard and Mark.

I binged all 3 episodes today!
I saw them at Wembly in 93 & 94, and it was an interesting trip back in time watching the first 2 parts.
About half way through the 3rd part, I unexpectedly started sobbing when they showed Rob up in the rig at the start of The Flood. The last 30 minutes were so moving 😢

So moving. I watched it all backwards. Last episode was very touching. It would have been amazing to see all five of them in a room together again but it was still lovely.

I think rob and Jason’s were sound bites I think they were lifted from the 2005 documentary just before they reformed. Not finished watching yet but there is a lot of new (old) footage that was really interesting. For me especially I was gobsmacked when I saw Robbie get out of a car in some old footage at Stockport station presumably to get the train back to Stoke I am from Stockport and was in the train station all the time I must of missed him by days/minutes! Had a massive crush on him too back then.

I also didn’t realise all the stuff with Gary and the pressure he was under to deliver the music. That was a lot for someone so young.

And because of that I completely get the jealousy

Glad I’m not the only one! I was also at Wembley 94 and ADORED them; soundtrack to my youth. I burst into tears at the bit where Pray was a hit, that was the song that got me into them. Also at the Flood - so moving, the lyrics and Rob looked to be crying. I know a few people that have worked with Robbie through the years and he’s a very emotional guy.

It's a really well done documentary. It reignited my memories, and changed my opinion of Robbie. I went off him when went solo and became so rude and cocky.

I just love that despite everything that happened in the 90s, both Gary and Robbie were mature enough to discuss it, accept both their faults and build something positive from it. I’m sure they will never be the best of friends on a personal level but I feel like they do genuinely respect each other now.

I think the coverage of Jason leaving was the saddest part for me. I totally understand and respect his desire to call it a day, and whilst I’m so grateful they continued as a 3, there will always be a Jason sized hole. The footage of their final night of the progress tour really got me. Seeing them as a five for the final time, and now knowing it was only ever going to be 3 after that final show.

I wish there had been more about their time as a 3. I know it’s been less dramatic but it totally missed how they felt about the III tour without Jason, for example. And they said themselves, being a 3 has been their longest formation out of all eras. So to just go from end of Progress to 2024 this life tour felt a bit jarring for me. We could have easily had four episodes, I’m sure.

But otherwise I loved there was so much unseen footage.

Couldn’t agree more! The end felt rushed and, as much as there has been very little drama since they became a three, it seems a lost opportunity to gloss over it.

I saw TT 2 years ago so I shouldn't feel shocked, but god when they cut to the 3 of them at current time they all looked so incredibly old. I was going to skip this Circus Tour but this doc has reignited my love again so may have to go! ❤

Finished it today. Wow I loved it all learning about them. I think the whole Robbie Gary thing was mostly because of that nigel guy they had who was only interested in Gary he caused all the mess between them well that's what I thought anyway. It's weird they didn't talk about shame. I can't wait to see them in June especially Mark

Nigel Martin Smith is a proper nasty one.

Agree there is something very sinister about him. Somethings will come out about him when he passes. He has been very quick to sue rob each time he spoke out against him so god knows what he’s hiding. Or maybe he just sued because he was jealous and nasty and hated how successful rob became without him.

I listened to Kavana’s audio book on Spotify “Pop Scars” he also had Nigel as a manager. He went into more detail about Nigel, which is an interesting and unsettling listen. Likely did it as he has much less than Robbie, so not really worth suing and a smaller audience (eg it won’t make newspapers when he admitted Nigel cracked onto him when he spoke to him about his music and snogged him when Kav was VERY young and Nige was mid 30s-40) 🤢 Nigel comes across very toxic and controlling in Kav’s book.
