I'm not sure that going against government advice is any business of one's employer though. To be honest, it's not even the business of your employer how or where you spend ANY of your annual leave.
My other half got moaned out by her HR department at work because she refused to put a destination on a holiday request (something they added for COVID). Of course, in the end it was some silly admin worker not being able to cope with a gap on a form and said worker was quite happy to accept "Narnia".
Is that not illegal? They can't dictate such things surly?

Still not going to risk abroad I think. It's the testing bit that worries me, suddenly getting stranded in another country.
There are tests that you can take with you and all you do is upload a picture of the negative test once you've done it to generate a certificate.

Be careful. We have just fallen foul of this in Barbados.. thought we had it all sorted prior to leaving uk but on arrival in Barbados found they wouldn’t accept self swabbed tests and had to had them done again on arrival and isolate until negative results came through then unable to leave for home without a medical professional swabbed test and negative result at our expense prior to departure. We paid over £400 for essentially useless tests and will be seeking refunds on return

I've booked to go to Croatia on a solo trip beginning of September. Booked a self catering apartment in Cavtat for a week. All the PCR testing seems like a right pain in the a for only a week though, I'm hoping the pre-departure testing requirement is removed at least, especially as Croatia don't even need a test for double vaccinated visitors.
Not summer but where do people recommend to go in december? Probably for 10 days abroad from the UK. I’d prefer it hot. I was looking at Jordan as it’s one of my top 3 places I want to go but I think it’ll be too cold in december.
If you want hot, anywhere in the Caribbean over the winter if you don’t mind the flight. If you want somewhere closer, the Canary Islands are always warm even in the winter. Cape Verde is also very hot during the winter months and you get the long haul beautiful beaches without doing the flight. Cape Verde is around a 6 hour flight. Gets a little windy in the evenings but not cold. Only thing is if you’re looking at booking I’m not sure if they will be back on their feet after covid by then.
Off to Brid next week, bit on edge but its due to rain so im hoping day triper numbers are low and its pretty quite. Its needed so determiend to have a good time.
Apart from weekends here and there, to see friends in other parts of the uk, we never holiday in the UK.
Too expensive, too crowded, crap service, and unpredictable weather! . Much prefer to go abroad. Even with all the faff at the moment with testing, I still think it’s worth it to get out of the UK!
We’ve had a week in portugal, and are off to Dublin soon, Got Berlin booked for September, so really hoping we get to go. Grown up children so much more free to go anytime. My OH has been to Cornwall for work at the moment and said it was hellish.

Check if you can easily postpone/cancel if anything goes wrong in the next months and then book it!!
I’ve just come back from Gran Canaria and it was absolute bliss. So nice and felt safe the whole time x
Booked a package to Mallorca for next July about 3 months ago. I’m glad I did now because I checked the price the other day, and it’s already gone up by about £400!
I really hope that by then all this testing and stuff is a thing of the past.
