I still thought travel abroad would be chaos next year so we booked a cottage in Cornwall for Aug 2022 in December. Really good price, paid in full…
They contacted me in July to say there had been an error when I booked, and the price was in fact double what I had already paid. “Do you want your invoice amending or shall we cancel the booking?”
They’re going to regret it in a few years when no one is staying here at all!

If you want hot, anywhere in the Caribbean over the winter if you don’t mind the flight. If you want somewhere closer, the Canary Islands are always warm even in the winter. Cape Verde is also very hot during the winter months and you get the long haul beautiful beaches without doing the flight. Cape Verde is around a 6 hour flight. Gets a little windy in the evenings but not cold. Only thing is if you’re looking at booking I’m not sure if they will be back on their feet after covid by then.

Any wonder why people holiday abroad. It is a piss take to go anywhere over here. Ever since the virus, prices have just gone through the roof. Hardly the best way to entice people to holiday in Britain.

Surely these hotel chains could somehow provide offers. For e.g, X number of nights for a certain price. I don't hear people talk about much about any offers on for British holidays. It just seems that these companies are overcharging for holidays.
I'm not sure that going against government advice is any business of one's employer though. To be honest, it's not even the business of your employer how or where you spend ANY of your annual leave.
My other half got moaned out by her HR department at work because she refused to put a destination on a holiday request (something they added for COVID). Of course, in the end it was some silly admin worker not being able to cope with a gap on a form and said worker was quite happy to accept "Narnia".

The holidays in England kind of reminds me of my childhood holidaying in Yarmouth, Norfolk and going to Isle of Wight. Blackgang chine I think it was called, and Sandown seafront. It was always good fun for me as a kid. It's probably changed a lot now though.
I'm not sure that is in anyway legal.

Be careful. We have just fallen foul of this in Barbados.. thought we had it all sorted prior to leaving uk but on arrival in Barbados found they wouldn’t accept self swabbed tests and had to had them done again on arrival and isolate until negative results came through then unable to leave for home without a medical professional swabbed test and negative result at our expense prior to departure. We paid over £400 for essentially useless tests and will be seeking refunds on return

Is the travel company offering the option to postpone the holiday? How are you feeling about going at the moment?Nothing booked for summer. Got 3 kids and honestly can’t face the possible additional queues, drama and uncertainty around it all.

Without being nosey, did you not find that the prices of UK breaks at the moment are astronomically high? I can’t justify spending over £1000 for a family break when the cost of all inclusive and flights is considerably less (especially considering unpredictable weather) I’m all for supporting the local British economy but I think some people are taking the mick with costs.

Booked a package to Mallorca for next July about 3 months ago. I’m glad I did now because I checked the price the other day, and it’s already gone up by about £400!
I really hope that by then all this testing and stuff is a thing of the past.

I stayed at a chessington world of adventures hotel last week, but I booked it back in January when there were loads of offers and we were in lockdown, price was over double by the time we went

yeah, I can believe it! We only ever do weekends in the UK, and it’s either in our camper, or cheap premier inn /travelodge deals. I would never take a main holiday here.

Yes me too! It’s a complete rip off and nothing to do with safety. I love Mallorca.
We took both the paper copy and had it on the phone as well for Portugal. We just showed the phone version. Have a great time.
Booked a week in Tenerife for next February. It’s an Easyjet package holiday. Looking at Madeira for June, and also looking at flights for a girls trip to Barcelona for Easter. Like lots of us, I have a lot of catching up to do in 2022.

My work has a policy that we can’t go abroad I hope it changes soon! I’m not too bothered as it’s making me save a lot. I had one way flights booked for last September to go traveling for a year which makes me sad as I won’t be doing that anymore. My friend wants to go away in the UK soon, I’m hoping we don’t, it costs so much and I’d rather save and be able to go on more nice holidays abroad when we can
