I remember years back when she was on the One Show and it must’ve been awful for her when the interviewer mentioned it though she must have said it was ok to ask. She said she was very hurt but they were moving on. If I remember rightly he was being silly sexting some wannabe daughter of a millionaire and nothing happened. I think he has never grown up. Aren't they practicing Catholics? so I wonder if they tried to make it work for as long as possible as didn't want to get divorced. Now their kids are grown maybe they felt it was easier to split
You may love each other as friends but feel nothing more perhaps. But then I think marriage does go through different phases. I mean you have to like each other and have things in common as come your 80s and 90s you're not going to be all about wild sex and mad adventures like you maybe were in your 20s and 30s. Maybe now the kids have left home they don't feel they have much in common anymore or something. Sad though to see a relationship of so long end.
The youngest is 16, about to turn 17 so I don’t think she’s left home yet but she’s old enough to understand more than she would if she was a few years younger

Midlife divorces are more popular than ever. People realise that just because you’ve stuck it out for twenty odd years you don’t need to pretend or just exist anymore in a ‘silent divorce’. It’s unusual and statistics say that men only instigate divorce if there is someone to go to they never move out to live alone, whereas women prefer it.
