We are looking to plan a trip to London in the October half term for a couple of nights (covid dependant!! will not go if lots of restrictions still in place). We have a (will be) 6 year old who is excited to see Big Ben, Buckingham Palace etc. We don't have a huge budget (£350 max for 2 nights) as we would rather put money towards food and drink, trip to Hamleys etc but would like advice on whereabouts is a good base to see London?
We aren't too fussed about madam tussauds, the dungeons, things like that - we would rather see the palace, big ben and go to places like Hyde Park and go to markets (if open).
We have seen some lovely hotels in Dockland but is it a ballache to get around from there? I dont like the tube (had a full on panic attack when I last went on there) so will be walking / hop on hop off bus / ubering - or is it best to stay kings cross area?
