Imo religion in the UK doesn't have as strong of a hold as it does in some Eastern European countries that are also Christian, so the point is always misses the mark for me

Granted, we all know that any form of religion can be taken to the extremes or be interpreted to exclude minorities
I agree, my issue is with people using their “Christianity” as another excuse to be violent when that is the exact opposite of what it is about and they know literally nothing about it. Just because the King is the head of state and the Church of England doesn't detract from the fact that the UK is a secular state and that anyone here theoretically has freedom to follow their faith.

(To be honest I have an issue with anyone who uses religion to be a hypocritical b but that is not for here)

I remember reading a while back that MI5 think the biggest terrorist todays comes from far right groups rather than Islamist extremism. The government will have intel on this.
It would be interesting to see the impact on reporting to Prevent after these 'riots' . How it impacts children who are aware of parents protesting or overhearing conversations and getting curious.

Obviously people can fundraise for whatever they want but does the cafe owner not have insurance?
Yeah but still a nice gesture .

very cruel comment considering you know nothing about me and where have I said the riots are acceptable🤔
It's only a library isn't it? No it's more than that it's a one stop shop and mental health support, not really the point though, it's our area and I cleaned the debris, glass and utter mess at 2am while fires were burning around me. I Don't think you get the point. Your a head.

It can take months to get money from the insurance and the sudden end of income can lead to many difficulties. It might help to pay the employees as well (I don't know if they would be entitled to compensation for income loss and how fast).

It's overall a way to show solidarity, to let them know they are not alone.

I get what you are saying and everyone is judgemental about something, it’s human nature.

My problem is with the rioters who are currently committing acts of theft and what I would call domestic terrorism in the name of “patriotism” when really they have just been manipulated to hate anyone they think doesn’t look like their idea of British and blame them for their own clearly tit lives. None of this behaviour is justified.

i am something of an outlier amongst my friends and acquaintances for my beliefs and politics. We are friends and don’t speak about politics much. I don’t agree with them but respect most of their opinions. I have, over the last two days however realised that two of them are just out and out racists so will no longer be socialising with them. I also have another friend, a Reform voter, actually a lovely person, who is horrified and frightened by the violence from what she saw previously as “her people”. She was going to go to Nottingham for a nice day out to see her grandchildren, but as an “old biddy”, like me, she was too frightened.

I am no apologist for people who do not respect the laws of this land due to their “culture”, but I think you can still respect the culture and beliefs of people which may be different to your own if they are law abiding.

Sorry, rambled on a bit there x
I agree really.
I don’t like the disrespect for law and order wherever it comes from.
Also people should respect simple things like keeping the place tidy, courtesy to others, all that.
People should be free to worship as they like, but respect the fact that this is a secular, liberal society, which didn’t happen overnight, it was hard won and very much worth fighting for.

Ahh yes the far right who have massacred people on the rail/bus network (London 2005), at a Pop concert in Manchester, beheaded a soldier in the streets of London and recently stabbed a soldier. Ohh wait it wasn’t the far right as it? It’s that peaceful religion we hear so much about 😂

And this is coming from someone who doesn't support or agree with the protests?

^ This is actually a very interesting read and includes some groups that have been banned and individuals who have carried out attacks motivated by their ideology. I haven't heard of one of them

I’m seeing lives in Sheffield outside a hotel that I’m assuming is housing asylum seekers and they’ve apparently just stormed in/trying to set it on fire with people inside. What the duck is wrong with people?! These are human beings

Another lot been shipped in then I assume because they’ve been outnumbered outside the city hall by anti racist protesters so have moved elsewhere to cause trouble. These thugs are really not right in the head

I really don’t understand these people’s mentality how are you ‘protecting kids’ and ‘taking back our country’ by looting JD Sports and burning down libraries & CABs thus taking away public services?
