This is what I find frustrating- for example the BBC yesterday were talking about illegal migration (because at the start there were rumours he had recently arrived) and how even though the the numbers of people crossing over the channel have increased exponentially crime is still low and it’s much safer in this country than it was many years ago. The reporter was a man and I couldn’t believe the gall of him! We live in a society where on average every 3 days a woman or girl is murdered by a man, we have police who don’t bother to show up for burglaries and places where grape is basically allowed because the perpetrators will never face justice. How is that safe??

I really hope he stays safe. Think I need a break from these threads and the reporting of everything. My heart and my head feel very heavy from all of this.

We are very lucky indeed but the reason fascism died down was because of government crackdown and active pushbacks from people. What we are seeing on our streets is violence caused by fascists. People attacking one group of people and blaming them for the problems in society. If people don’t want to be labelled as fascists, they shouldn’t be following the same path as the fascists in the 1930s did. Smashing up places, setting fire to police stations, attacking people etc. is not what you do, the damage is left upon communities to pick up, the ones to who don’t agree with these bleeps on the streets.

I completely agree that they shouldn’t be messing up the streets and should be ashamed of themselves if they have been but there has been a problem online over the past couple of years of calling anyone to the right of Corbyn a fascist and the result of that is it muddies the waters of who is an actual fascist. I probably need to read up more on the history myself but I think those with hot takes on twitter also need to.
Polly has a point - if a white 17 year old stabbed a bunch of little girls and teachers and the majority of them were black the first thing being said would be that it was a racist attack even though the perpetrator potentially wasn’t racist.
However from what we’ve been told a black 17 year old has gone and stabbed a large group of girls and their teachers and all the victims so far are white. Why is this not being treated as a potential race hate crime, even in the media?

I haven’t seen anyone calling people to the right of Corbyn fascists? They get labelled more as centrists than anything, completely different to being called a fascist. I think we’re blaming the wrong people here for online behaviour, people like Farage and Robinson have been riling people up with their social media activity. They claim that migrants are the cause of all our issues, that Muslims are taking over etc. They’ve radicalised people to the point of destroying our country in the name of ‘gaining back our country’ when all its doing it making people scared to live their lives.
Out of interest what did you make of the Olivia Pratt Korbel murder in your city, or Rhys Jones? Did those two child victims not qualify for rioting?

Rhys Jones got killed around the corner from where I lived up until this year, I was only 9 and I remember it vividly. The scumbags who were involved with killing him walked the streets for weeks after it, everyone knew who done it but nothing was done about it and half of them still to this day walk the same streets. Everyone knew Thomas Cashman killed Olivia that was also knowledge in Liverpool from day one, again walked the streets like nothing had happened. White murdering men, no riots no grassing no nothing. If people don’t see that this is all down to race they must have eyesight like Stevie Wonder
Thank you, In my opinion Liverpool is well known for the tight knit community and nobody “grasses” absolutely disgusting, I’m sorry but if that was my young child riding his bike knifed to death or my daughter in my front room shot to death I’d be rioting towards the rum keeping quiet
