You know these "concerned citizens" are from the same groups which turned a vigil into a riot, attempted to target a mosque, and left dozens of police injured literally the night before?
I’d say they were drafted in to take advantage of the situation, the guy they apprehended with the knife on the way to the vigil was the icing on the cake , lines get blurred and people tend to paint all with one brush, that’s exactly what extremists thrive on.

I don’t understand why if it’s “not terror related” they are working with counter terrorism??
Because counter terrorism are the experts on investigating extreme or terror related online (and offline) groups, individuals and organisations who the perpetrator may (or may not) have followed or contacted.
They have to investigate every avenue but that does not mean they will find anything.
They will want to be very through though.

is it a case of that there is nothing obvious to suggest it was terrorism but because it’s an ongoing investigation and the nature of the attack they work with the counter terrorism unit until they are satisfied on motive either way?

I can’t answer that. My best guess, due to the volume of people outside and being understaffed as there were issues elsewhere 🤷🏼‍♀️

Unless there was violence/risk to life, it may have been safer to leave them especially given the numbers of officers injured in the last 48hours.

Not every incident can and will be treated the same. All circumstances differ.

When you say people are watching, I don’t know if you mean spectators to the above or just watching the police actions collectively in general but if it’s the latter, let them watch. Unless they are involved, and know the full story, their opinion on how they think things should be policed doesn’t really matter.
Do they not have a phone to call for backup ?? I mean these things are being live streamed on SM .

What exactly are the "concerned citizens" concerned about? What are they protesting against?

Over 50 police officers injured in 48 hours, no bleeping wonder they kept their distance. An already stretched police force will be struggling even more now because the arrests of these thugs will be making things worse, same police force they were praising the other day is now the ones they go after. People run into things with little context and can’t think critically for themselves, someone else has to do it for them. That’s the key point as well, these people aren’t physically there so how do they know what’s gone on? It’s ridiculous

I’d imagine how the country’s gone to tit? You’re not safe stepping outside your own front door in certain areas, this man was killed a couple of nights ago getting a bag of groceries.

You think it’s that easy just to call for other units/ pull units from other boroughs?

Let’s be honest, how many officers do you think are in that, and surrounding, areas compared to the number of people protesting?

Sadly the riot/protest there may have been down the pecking order to other crimes being seen to. If this was seen as peaceful and there was risk of life elsewhere, that will take priority.

I think recently we’ve realised that sometimes even if they are involved and do know the full story their opinion on how things should be policed doesn’t matter then either 🤷‍♀️

Do you think this guy is any better than Tommy Robinson? Yet we don’t see him mentioned on MSM

Oh are they protesting about this sort of thing then?

Punching an innocent bystander and racially abusing him for walking down his street, the country is in the gutter if this is the behaviour of so called patriots.

I found it so upsetting watching that footage this morning, the way the guy had to not react, had to just turn around and walk away slowly because if he ran you know it would turn out even worse for him. It just turns my stomach.

The protests are for the closet racists who have wanted a excuse to go out and disrupt this country, that’s why they’ll never wait for the facts they’ll jump on it straight away and make it a matter of race. Innocent people of colour are being targeted because of the colour of their skin, these same people are the ones out working whilst all the ones protesting are sat at home wanking over Farage and Tommy Robinson. Country’s in the bleeping gutter

I don’t know why this is relevant to our initial conversation. If I have missed something, happy to be corrected.

I will say, ANYONE inciting or threatening such things need to be arrested. I don’t care who they are.

This is the consequences of allowing racist behaviour to grow in this country. Things like this become more prevalent because what did that man do other than walk down his road like any of us do on a daily basis?

That’s exactly why I’m saying the gov can’t ignore it any longer it’s like a wet dream for far righters ( far lefters) to have fresh new recruits when they witness the authorities only coming down on one side. If you’re familiar with situations like this you’ll probably understand it a lot better ,the UK will have to wake up very soon if they’re to avoid an all out civil war from all sides, it’s been brewing !

They do! I’m just showing you what’s on SM that the MSM tend to skip over.

if you type in 'southport' on twitter, literally 95% is coverage of the riots and people peddling their ideologies, and 5% is about the girls themselves. just find that such a joke
