Can we all agree that The Beautiful South are the band with the highest quota of unbearable songs? I used to hate it because they were on every single NOW album I bought around that time.

I present you with the evidence...

Perfect 10
Rotterdam
A Song for Whoever (Jennifer, Alison, Phillipa Sue...)
Don't Marry Her
A Little Time
You Keep it All In
Old Red Eyes is Back
Good as Gold (Stupid as Mud)

I mean, come on...

The song that makes me shudder is Toploader Dancing in the Moonlight, I loathe it with more intensity than necessary

Firework by Katy Perry. It all went wrong when she sang the words "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag?" She could have used any word, any term but she chose "plastic bag" ?? 😂 I mean it can be an uplifting, upbeat dance song but I can't get over those lyrics.

Now I’m no music snob but I have an irrational hatred of a lot of songs that make me instantly turn the radio over. Just for starters:

Lola’s theme - it’s on the radio ALL THE TIME even all these years later
Thinking out loud & Perfect by Ed Sheehan - make me feel sick
Anything by Cheryl Cole particularly that Crazy Stupid Love - they’re all just spectacularly shit
Any of the Greatest Showman songs - again always on the radio
Chainsmokers - Closer
Maroon 5 - Don’t Wanna Know & Memories
Dance Monkey - when I first heard it I thought it was by some joke Eurodance act but it’s a serious songwriter/busker from Australia 😂
Groove is in the heart - so annoying
Amerie- 1 thing
Lauv - I’m so tired - this is not a song, it’s just sounds

I do actually like some really cheesy shit songs and have quite a wide ranging music taste! I’ll add more when I think of them.

Anything by Lewis Capaldi. All his songs seems to merge into one miserable shout and whine-fest. Genuinely don’t understand why his music is so popular!
Totally agree.

Plus he's basically a carbon copy of Ed Sheeran. We don't need two of them.

PLUS he's a total slob. He (no pun intended) reeks of male privilege -- a female artist could never reach that level of success with such a low standard of basic hygiene, zero talent and zero stage presence.

So...yeah. He irritates me haha. 😅

Anything by Coldplay.

Instant change of radio station. (Could possibly be the only tattler still in the dark ages with a radio!)

The song: she's so lovely by scouting for girls.
It's awful but everyone seems to love it! She's so lover-ly, she's so lover-ly. 😒🙄
It's the same words over and over pretty much. Utter shit.
Also, what's that coming over the hills is it a monster!? 😖😖😖
And anything by Bruno mars, just the way you are and grenade in particular. Fills me with boiling rage.

Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand makes me want to take a baseball bat to the TV whenever I hear it on the Jet2 ads. 😬

I also hate the remix of the 90’s song I Love You Always Forever that’s been the rounds on Insta stories for a while now. Usually accompanied by a slideshow of some hun’s child. 🙄

Lenny Kravitz and his lyrical genius

I wish that I could fly
Up to the sky
So very high
Just like a dragonfly.

God I hate that song.

Keane - somewhere only we know

TV was playing songs that turn 20 this year and it's all songs I remember from being 11 and then this depressing wankbag of a song came on

I was a DJ for 12 years so my loathing for a lot of supposedly popular songs is magnified! People request the same crud a lot sadly. I DJ’d at a cabaret club twice a week for 2 years and this one, lovely lady who came in most Fridays always requested Build Me Up Buttercup by the Foundations.

Songs I despise are:

Dexy’s Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen
Robbie Williams - Rock DJ / Angels / She’s The One
Candi Staton - Young Tarts Run Free
Jeff Beck - Hi Ho Silver Lining
Katrina & The Waves - Walking on Sunshine
Culture Club - Karma Chameleon
Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire (aka the Mutton dressed as Lamb “rock” anthem!)
Bryan Adams - Bummer of 69
UB40 - Red Red Whine
Enrique Iglesias - Hero
Beyonce - Single Ladies
Anything by Rihanna but especially Please Don’t Stop The Music!
Black Eyed Peas - I’ve Got A Feeling
JLS - Everybody in Love
Katy Perry - Firework
Bruno Mars and co - Uptown JUNK

I also hate everything Spam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Adele have released to date.

I don't know if it's just me but that Jax Jones song Where did you go I can't listen to without getting the 90s song No Mercy - Where do you go stuck in my head. It sounds so similar and it was doing my head in for so long when I couldn't place what it reminded me of 😫
That was an irritant at the time! What used to grate on me is it sounded like the lead singer was singing, “a-where do you go?” Just say “where” you maggot! Dreadful song.
