This happens to me most nights. Feel wide awake, can see my bedroom clearly (mess and all!) and feel as though there's a man in the room. Sometimes it's just a foot by the door and other times I feel like they're right beside me. Sometimes I'm so tired I drift off back to sleep and other times I get up when I can and check the door's locked. Or I dream that I've got up and walked to the door to discover it's open and just as I'm panicking thinking someone's broke in, I wake up.
That feeling of being trapped and frozen is indescribable.

I don't see anyone, as someone on me my back.
I just have this like out of body stuff that feels like an nightmare.
I've only ever seen this once.
Any other time it's that I literally can't move or wake up or make a noise or anything

My cousin is having a horrendous time the now with dreams, she ended up outside the other night because she thought her kid was with someone an they were bringing her back so she was going out the door to get her, a few years back she started strangling her husband as well one night, she's been in an out dream clinics for years but they can't seem to understand why they can be so strong to control her like this an have said its not linked to sleep walking

Has anyone else got this or had this? I only lucid dream so as much as my dreams are incredible strong an vivid an I can smell, taste, feel in them they are nothing like hers where am physically getting up an doing stuff
I have had very vivid ones before where I got out of bed and put on my bra and socks and stuff because i thought people/friends were in the house. I could hear them so clear.
Had other ones where I was trying to open the door to let my dog in.
My dog wasn't there.

Had many like it.
All so clear and I fully believe they're real until I wake up properly.

Another one is where I often see bugs.

I've commented on this thread before and have suffered from sleep paralysis (usually just someone standing over me sleep!) and can snap myself out of it now.

However recently I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night thinking I’m at work and I don’t let myself fall asleep, because I think I’ll get in trouble. These 'dreams' are so intense that I can visualise my colleagues and kids (I'm a teacher) in the classroom watching me struggle to stay awake. The weird thing is, I see my surroundings. I know I am in my bedroom and it's safe to sleep and can actually tell myself this too. Once I actually jumped out of bed thinking I was in school even though I could see I was in my room! I really cant explain it but its gotten to the point this is happening multiple times a week.

I think it could be stress but its never happened before and I think I'm actually doing okay with my current workload!

Does anyone know what this is or faced anything similar? Thanks.
I can snap myself out of it now as i know the signs and feeling as it’s happened so often. The scenario is always my bedroom and it’s crisp and clear like I’m awake.
Maybe where your work is your anxiety which is why you can see it?

It happened one other night since - thankfully not as bad as the first time !

I woke up quite quickly as my cat was doing her usual in the middle of the night craziness 😂
do you work unsociable hours by any chance, nightshifts etc? A lot of my colleagues (cabin crew) have it, especially on work trips, so much so they have often labelled hotels as being haunted when it is in fact sleep paralysis caused by a combo of extreme tiredness, night shifts and no routine ie waking up in different time zones.

I think for me, I'm actually awake like my eyes are open but I still think I'm at work and having that dream play out even though with my eyes I'm seeing my bedroom/surroundings! It sounds well creepy when I put it like that.

I think it could be work stress/anxiety which is odd as personally I feel fine but need to get rid of it bc I'm losing too much sleep on this!

I've always had hallucinations kind of thing, along with sleep paralysis.
But with the hallucinations, I'm awake, I can see everything.. But I see bugs, and snakes and other things in my room with me.
Several times I've been able to hear someone else in the room or the next room as me and I've got dressed because I think we've got company. But I've been fully awake and can hear everything.

I've had sleep paralysis for years. My common symptoms outside of being unable to move, are feeling like I cannot breathe (like something is sitting on my chest), and audio/touch hallucinations. Thankfully I've never had a visual hallucination, I think that would be the scariest!

It feels very very real.

It took me years to stop being afraid. The more I read up on it, the better I've felt. Now it doesn't phase me.

I've noticed over time that for me, personally, it happens when I'm overly tired and sleep very late (like 4am or something), when I take a sleeping pill, or when I sleep on my back. I now sleep on my stomach, because I'm unlikely to end up on my back that way, and it's reduced the number of times its occurred. I still don't have a regular bedtime, since being a mum and having a toddler that wakes at night. Once my child is older, I think I'll have even more control of it because I can set a regular bed schedule without been woken during the night.

My eyes open partially sometimes too. Other times I'm desperately trying to open my eyes or shout out but I can't. That's probably the worse bit - fighting to save myself from the 'intruder' but not being able to.

I hope things improve for you soon. I know what it's like to lose sleep and then become stressed about the actual going to sleep bit.
I agree - the trying to waking up is definitely the worst bit!

Thank you! I'm going to try out different tips before bed and see if they help.

I’ve had it before and it was absolutely terrifying! I was asleep on my front and a dark figure of a man climbed through my window and sat on my back. I couldn’t breath, I was trying to wake up and scream bht I couldn’t make a sound. It felt so so real! The man had no face, he was just a shadowy figure. I just can’t believe how real it felt. It shook me up for a while, I still get freaked out when I think about it!

What freaks me out more, is that lots of other people have experienced the same thing?! How is that even possible? The same shadowy man breaking in and sitting on you?! It’s like a sleep demon!
It is very weird!
I got told "Oh it's just because you've read about it and seen it before"
When I had the sleep paralysis where I had a woman on top of me, pinning me down, I'd never seen or heard of it before.
And then I googled it the next day and found the exact image of the woman.
So it certainly wasn't because I'd seen it before!

Hope you're okay.
I have had this happen several times and it scared me even more when I Googled it and the exact image that I saw came up.
It's horrible.
Luckily I was in bed with my partner and he panicked at me breathing super heavy and woke me up. Otherwise I don't know how long it will have gone on.
It still terrifies me every time. And the only thing I've noticed that makes it happen is sleeping on my back. So I ensure I don't now.

I've had it a few times but nobody I know or who I've ever spoken to has experienced it.

I used to get it all the time when I still lived with my mam & dad (I moved out 5 years ago) where a woman as dragging me off my bed and sat on top of me and I couldn't move.

I got it once in my first rented house when I was napping on the settee, my ex was at work so I was home alone and it sounded like someone was trying to break in. When I came around it was badly raining & very windy

In my second rented house, I never experienced it until my ex and I split up and he moved out. It was the woman coming back from my parents to sit on top of me

I am now in a flat I rent and have had it a couple times. Again, I could hear someone trying to break in but I was paralyzed and shouting for help but it was more of a whisper, when I eventually snapped out of it I shouted louder and could hear my voice echoing.

I got it last week, the cat was laying on the end of my bed when I fell asleep. I woke up to a cat? On top of me and another cat at my toes dropping something on it, I snapped out of it but the cat was sound asleep and nowhere near me lol

I only seem to get it when I am not sharing a bed with someone? Does anyone else find this?

I have what I call Astro projected dreams I hurt myself in the dream that felt so real, when i woke up I had the same mark in the same place from the dream, with the sleep paralysis, It's more I'm awake and leaving my body asleep to do stuff that feel so real that my asleep body is awake trying to wake up but someone on my back, I don't see demons I see my mum or partner, I asked mum did you come in my room she said yes cause you was screaming but I couldn't wake you so thought you was in the deep sleep, I told her Insaw her my eyes were open Insat up. She said you didn't do anything. I stayed in the room in the chair watching you cause I was worried this is when I was about 22 years old and going through a rough time. I still remember doing it.

Same! I’d never even heard of sleep paralysis! Then I was reading a forum a couple of years later and someone described the exact same thing that I had, my heart dropped!
this is my demon 🤣 (but was more of a faceless man, but I imagine I was sleeping like that 🤣🤣)

I’ve had this loads of times and I only get it when I’m in bed alone usually after my husbands gone to work or he’s away for the night. Usually not long before I have to get up myself.
it’s the same thing every time. I’m in my bed and I can see my room but I can hear someone walking up the stairs and in to my bedroom and I’m being pinned down and can’t move!! It’s happened so many time I now say to my self in my dream/sleep whatever it is “wake up, wake up” and then I suddenly jolt and it’s all over.
scary feeling. Makes your heart race. Not a fun way to start the day.

Had two bouts of this last week. My husband has started leaving for work at 6.15 and I wake up and fall asleep again on my back. The paralysis is an awful feeling but what I find disconcerting is your body trying to pull you back into that deep sleep and your mind is trying to fight it. Awful awful awful.

Can I ask. Most of you are/having/had this sleep paralysis.

Are any of you like sort of psychic?
Sense something around you? Or sense something has happened going to happen?
Like spiritual things.
Get spiritual magazines.
Watch haunted shows? Then had the bad dream?
Seen death or had someone close to you die?

See. I sense a spirit around me all the time. A good one. A family member.

I have things where I am sort of psychic that I have freaked people out.

I have lost a lot of people around me.
I also in one year had encounters with black cats even for birthday christmas cards a black cat was on it. Nothing bad happened that year.

But it got me thinking if any of you are like what I asked if that's why we have sleep paralysis cause our mind or spirit is gone to like an astral plane. Where everything is the same but our other else is awake seeing or experiencing this stuff and our body trying to wake up on earth to make us aware something is happening or going to happen.

I know it might not make sense but sometimes this is what I feel.

Like I said I was in the back bedroom of my partners house has I had problems sleeping in our bed that night so sleep and he was trying to wake me up. But he had my Grandads shirt on over his pjs. I could feel him physically holding me to wake me up put of cause no one was their when did wake up the day just felt off.
Another time at my mums house I was held and woke up with a bruise where I was held in this sleep paralysis.

But I watched an haunted show. During the day. I stopped watching them before bed now. That someone could be alerting us to wake up cause something's going to happen.

I don't know I just feel that some things could be connected.
I definitely feel like I have very strong intuitions. I feel I could have the ability to unlock something within me but part of me is a bit too scared.
