She doesn't, shes no skincare expert, she's an enthusiast at best, but her expertise (if you can call it that) is in marketing.

I'd say a huge reason why she hasn't mentioned her Penneys range is that they don't sell online, and therefore she can't post AF links.

She's an absolute joke, anyone still following her for skincare advice needs to give their head a wobble.
I will say I did used to take her skincare advice, she came across as quite knowledgeable. But in the past year or that I come away from her page feeling a bit overwhelmed and baffled at the amount of skincare products. Personally my routine is cleanse, serum, eye cream and moisturise, and spf in the mornings and I find that takes enough of my time. Never mind adding in different serums, acids, masks etc and X cannot be used with Y, Z to be used A times a week - your head would be spinning - and I dunno how long it takes her to do her skincare every morning and evening!

That's a good point actually that her expertise is in marketing. And absolutely Penneys skincare isn't mentioned anymore because she cannot AF link it and she's already been paid for her collab so no need for her to show it anymore. But by her not mentioning it since, it has made me seriously question her integrity in relation to any other product she show.

I honestly can’t deal with how she makes her skincare out to be some kind of orgasmic ritual and caresses her skin like it’s an erogenous zone, with her budget M&S “this isn’t ordinary skincare” voice. Why is she so annoying

I had to unfollow her at lunchtime. She is firing up those AF Amazon links to beat the band and pay for her holiday. Everything she shows on her social media these past few weeks/months comes with an AF link, a paid partnership with a different skincare brand each week. She doesn't support any local or small businesses or show or mention anything she can't get some kickback on. Only seems to come on social media to sell something and there's no way people are messaging her every day looking for a link for her jeans or concealer when she puts up the links every other day.

I stopped following her ages ago. She was talking about Tattle actually and what a cesspit it is etc..
I just felt that she was another one who didn’t want to face any criticism and wanted to continue to sell, sell, sell without any question.
She doesn’t look that shiny and young because of 5 serums. Her skin looks like that because of injectables for the most part. I feel she was incredibly insincere and arse licky to that whole circle. And the long rambling campions as if she’s Seamus Heaney. And as was mentioned, the voice 😭
It’s a no from me.

Is she back from Dubai or what’s going on there? #nosy

I first started following Simone when she lived in Dubai, via Buynowbloglater too (did anyone else watch her on youtube when she was lollipop something?! Loved following her, she hardly posts anymore) There must have been some falling out between them, they no longer follow each other.

I think her husband works in engineering - they moved to Saudi just before the first lockdown and I'd say the whole Covid thing made her homesick and that's why they are back.

I've always generally liked her but then she'll do an ad for spotlight, or I see her commenting sucking up to other instahuns, and she loses credibility for me. She knows her skincare shit though, and her skin looks amazing but she has admitted to botox. She's much younger than I would have thought, pretty sure she's only early 30s?

Don’t forget every shot of her applying something is über close up zoomed in on her good cheek. Does she ever change out of the white t shirt and ripped jeans?

Is she back renovating the house again
Is it the same one?

Did she not spend years doing it up already

Between slathering serums -drinking coffee - buying jumpers and taking extreme close up selfies I dunno how this one has time to be stressed with work or life in general

Agreed with all this. I am sure she had an unpleasant experience but the melodrama of the article was hard to swallow. SO many people struggle with anxiety and they get on with life. The whole Saudi time was odd for her anyway.
I used follow her when she was in Saudi and she posted about how wonderful life was there and then she had the anxiety attack . I found it hard to take it all seriously. She never explained why they kept moving and it seemed odd to me that they would keep unsettling herself and a child like that. She loves to create a drama about her life alluding to things but not actually saying what is going on . I gave up on her why she moved back again. The ads and sp was too much.

Her good cheek 🪦 😂
New to this but I have followed Simone and her cheeks for ages and just unfollowed. She used chat about interesting things like wine! And I genuinely believed her skin care recommendations but now it’s just all one big ad. I also got lost in all the products, she hops from one to another or should I say promotes. who has time for all this ? She speaks glowingly of everything she gets sent and then you never get an update. I am clicking unfollow on so many lately and the people I do follow is for entertainment value because you can’t take any of them seriously.

She's bought a house to renovate, so I'd say the ads are going to be coming hot and fast to help pay for it - tbh, I'd do the same if I was in that position, but it does take a bit of the shine off her content.

I like Simone, she's always been up front about getting botox. If you're looking at her skin and thinking it's a cream or serum that has her forehead that smooth, you need to have a word with yourself 😂 I would take her recommendations with a tiny grain of salt; she works in Digital Beauty and clearly has a working relationship with a number of brands e.g. inkey list. She features those brands heavily, so I wouldn't be rushing out to purchase those products without doing my own research. She gives good general skincare advice though, like the steps you should have, how to use acids, etc, so I find value in her content.

The one bugbear I have with Simone is the instagram pod with Joanne Larby - maybe you don't have a choice as to the pod you're assigned into, but Jesus...I would not want to be associating myself with Joanne in any capacity.

I always wondered what happened between Simone and Laura (BuyNowBlogLater), they used to be best buds. Wish Laura came back with her instagram recs and talk throughs, she was great back in the day 😢

I do feel sorry for Simone with the whole anxiety situation she's dealing with, must be terrifying to have had such a physical response to anxiety. On the other hand, I'm not surprised her body gave out, with the constant moving around during a pandemic, it'd give anyone a panic attack. I think her little boy had a serious accident last year which prompted it, but her lifestyle in general just seems so hectic.

That was an essay 😅 None of my friends follow her, glad I came across this thread!

If you look at what she plugs then go onto her website it’s all products she is affiliated with . So before what I think we all liked about her - is that she was honest but now she is like the rest of them . All about the money and not being transparent . I saw her in Galway the last time she was down and let’s just say she is generous with the filters and angles in INsta . She looks nothing like herself in the photos 😝

I don’t get the hype over Simone’s skin tbh? It’s nice yeah but to the degree that she and everyone seems to go on about it? Not really..
I fully agree, I don’t think her knowledge is any more extensive than anyone else who has an interest in skincare either. When brands pay her to sell their product she learns the PR piece. Nobody needs that many products. I would like to see the results on someone without injectables myself or at least declare in each story that she has had them. It’s just false advertising to me.

She has absolutely no qualifications when it comes to skin yet she speaks and acts like she is the authority on all things skincare

I find it interesting when a blogger goes away and shows you the products they've brought - it shows you what they really actually use. Seen her pic this morning of her products she's using while away at her mum's and where are all the skincare brands she's been advertising the last few months? I know she uses that Supergoop SPF quite a bit but she had been advertising a different brand. I tap through her ads lately because I'm finding them disingenuous, an ad for a different skincare brand every week.

Yawn. Self care rituals on the gram only to encourage hyper consumerism. No one needs the amount of stuff she pats into her face daily.

Are they renovating the house that they had renovated before they went to the Middle East?

I used to enjoy her content and appreciate her recommendations. But she promotes so many products now and shows so much I don't know what is actually good anymore. She had promoted some shampoo before, a cheaper price point and she always has good volume in her hair so I followed it - the shampoo was awful and left my hair very built up with product - took ages to get the product completely out of my hair. She plugs so many different skincare brands and products - yet goes for so many treatments as well - I can't tell anymore what products really work...or not.

I bought the avene hydra cream stuff she's always on about but I may as well use tap water for moisturiser 🙄 smells nice that's about it. Have to lash on half the tub for a bit of moisture on my face. And I have fairly normal un botoxed skin.
I use the Avene aqua gel that she recommends and I LOVE it! My skin would be a little sensitive / dehydrated. When I ran out and switched to something else, my skin felt like it was crawling on my face with the dryness and so much better since I started it again.

I was also shocked at the amount of cleanser she used! Was that for effect for the video, or would you normally use that much?! I've used the Indeed reface retinol cream and love it but haven't used any of their other products. The exfoliant looked like a copy of the Dermalogica one?

I sometimes use the Clinique take the day off balm - it's great and cheaper than Emma Hardie I think. The Superfacialist cleansing oil is brilliant too (y)
