Dogs do not forget an attack by a cat! My best mate growing up had a golden lab and she and the dog were round my house one day, and the lab was keen to ‘talk’ to my dog, a wee terrier. My dog was not interested and my cat, who had shown nothing but complete disdain and indifference to our dog since the dog’s arrival, suddenly decided she would act as security and got between the dogs and gave the lab an almighty thwack across the nose, drawing a little blood. My Mum tried to lift our cat out of the way to remove her and she responded by sinking all her claws into the carpet and not releasing them. The lab was terrified of cats for the rest of her life. Whoops. And this is why I adore cats.
My late mum took in a semi feral cat at 3 months, lived till she was 20. A chap lived at the other end of the road to my parents and his great dance refused point blank to walk past my parents house - he was terrified of the cat - she'd chased him up the length of the road and the poor mutt never got over it.
