Has anyone had any experience with a cat going fully blind?

For content, my little beast has always been blind in one eye due to an ulcer. But he's now somewhere between 15-17 and his vision in the other eye has gone. He gets around largely by his whiskers and knowing our home very well. He's not struggling at all - bumps his head slightly now and then if a chair isn't in its normal place for instance. But he's still going outside (secure garden) and prowling around. He hasn't 'played' in years but he seems happy as always - and no flinching/tenderness around his eyes (he loves a head rub). Good appetite, etc. Bloods taken 6 months ago were perfect.

I think my question really is, is there anything I should be aware of, with having a now-blind cat? Anything to make his life easier, etc? Here he is, right now, next to me:

I haven't had experience with blindness in cats but it sounds like you're doing everything you can for his comfort and safety.
Give him an extra head rub from Down Under, he's a handsome ginger bear 💜

He's spoiled like a little king. Heated pad on a fur throw, fresh prawns every day, steak more bloody often than I have it I'll say that much!!

I swear he's playing kitty Stevie Wonder to get more out of me.

What are we doing for Christmas trees? My cat is one but he will play up to get attention. He’s constantly needing playtime and is quite naughty if he’s ignored and does loads of destructive things to get attention. I want to put a tree up but I know it’s going to be a nightmare.

Looking down at her servants 😅 at least it's a cat toy being used j guess, not like my 3 scratching posts avoided in favour of the sofa 😅
I know! Judging from above. She took a while to want to use it but she loves it now. Oh no, cleo doesn't touch my sofas thankfully but louie was a devil for it.

Same. This is 1st xmas with the 2 Bosses so idk what to expect. I kinda think Boss #2 will be destructive/ But I think Boss #1 will be ok. Tbh we only have a small tree as we live in an apartment. Thinking it might be best to put it up high where they haven't gone yet, although they both keep eyeing that space.
I'm thinking of just keeping things super simple and just putting up the little tree and some stockings on the door.
If we had a regular tree or 1 that needed to be on ground level, it would be knocked over daily.
Our previous cat would go and sniff it, try bite it but would stop when we told her no. This will be 2nd xmas without her, I miss her so much.

What are the cats getting as xmas gifts? I've bought mine a big box of licky lix treats and new collars.

We don't celebrate Christmas although we do have something special for lunch on the day, normally some potato salad in crusty rolls (if it's hot) followed by some ice cream or fruit flan.
The cats get ham as a very special treat.

My cat or cats receive a kiss, a rousing rendition of "deck the halls with boughs of WoohCat" and we get on with our day. I'm not really a Yuletide person 😃

For Jimmy's first Christmas with me, I went all "First Time (Cat) Dad"* and spent a small fortune on cat toys.

He refuses to play with the battery-operated ones as they won't let him win all the time.

The rest, I still have a load in storage, and he has enough toys to be getting on with, so I won't be getting him any more.

I don't mind Christmas but I am working for most of it this year as the others on my team all have plans and I don't so why be a wick about it.

* Even though he's Cat #4.

Boys usually have nicer personalities more friendly 😆 I wanted boys and ended up with girls

So sorry about Evie, it's one of life's most difficult moments to say goodbye to a much-loved pet.
Wishing you many happy times with these two handsome devils ❤ 🐾

I have a small square of high density foam. It goes next to the gas inlet pipe in the hall as it is at risk of getting hit by the front door if you open it fully. Most mornings I come downstairs to find the foam piece somewhere else after Jimmy has batted it about the house.
