All my cats have been vocal but it is my fault as I talk/ed to them constantly so they respond though one currently has and is very vocal and disruptive and goes all out to get fed.

We're having the roof power-washed and the cats are losing their tit.
I told them the scary water man can't get in through the roof but I don't think they believe me.

Jimmy is the same.

The roof on my kitchen/bathroom extension is zinc, so any heavy rain makes a bit of a racket.

There's been times when he refuses to set foot in it despite his food bowl and litter tray being there.

Mind, it's freezing cold now so I turned on the electric blanket underneath him last night - as you do.

Aw, Jimmy deserves the best. My old Pooh Bear hated the sound of rain, he'd hide in the cupboard.
Thor's brace though, he 'helps' my husband by following the vacuum cleaner around.

We had the house deep cleaned on Monday, Loki and Merry were not happy they loathe anything cleaning from dusters, to brooms and of course vacuum cleaners. Unfortunately, the lovely cleaning team arrived with 3, yes 3 vacuums. Luckily, tho chilly it was sunny so they both sat outside till the scary ladies and their equally scary equipment had got in their van and buggered off. Oh and 2 hours later after eating his tea Loki felt the lovely clean floor needed a spot of vomit on it 🤦🤦🤦😜.

My previous cat, Millie, hated the vacuum cleaner.

The mere sight of me taking it from its cubby hole was enough to send her rocketing through the cat flap.

When Jimmy first arrived, he was utterly unbothered by it, unless I went right up to him.

These days though, he hates it and will usually leave the downstairs and go upstairs to avoid it.

When I reach the upstairs, I have to switch it off and allow him to escape back downstairs.

My Vet told me that for stressful situations like people coming over for whatever reason, or travel, or vet trips, times when there's loud noise outside...etc gabapentine is great to calm them. We used it on Boss #1 for her 1st vet trip with us and it def chilled her out. Then we used it again a few times when we thought there would be a lot going on and again it worked great on both of them!
Probably not suitable for every time you vacuum though.
It's best mixed with some strong tasting food like tuna. I tried it with those creamy licky lix treats and the 1st time she ate it all, then 2nd time she tried it and wouldn't eat any of it, she totally knew what was going on! But then we tried tuna and that works perfect each time so far.

Help, I'm broody for another cat.

I know we can't reasonably get another cat. Peach literally only came up for adoption because she wasn't getting on living with two other cats. But they were a big, fluffy Persian and Ragdoll pair of older boys... so maybe a kitten could work :ROFLMAO: But I also know I'd feel so gutted if ever I had to rehome a cat and would never put a kitten in that situation! So I know my pipe dream is over

You could foster that way if it doesn't get on with her it'll find a new home and your doing a good thing and if it does you can foster fail 😆

I have this debate daily, I would love a kitten but im so unsure what cleo would be like. Ive considered fostering too because I would need to try it first. I don't want to risk getting a kitten and cleo is unhappy meaning I would have to rehome the kitten. I don't want her to think I dont love her. My previous cat would've packed his bags if I brought a kitten home 🤣

Cleo has also taken a liking to sleeping on my back at night, meaning I have to sleep on my front. I was so uncomfortable last night but she had a great night sleep whilst licking herself. This morning I woke up really needing to pee and it was like buckaroo trying to get her off me! She grips on for dear life.

I'm.not sure, but this level of neediness does seem like maybe she does want another cat friend?

I have a worry about my beloved black fuzzy companion. He's off to the vet on Monday morning because of some symptoms, but are they internal external or behavioural? Is my mother's cat bullying him? Does he have an abscess?Did closing the door on the spare room create a drama for him? Is it stomach cancer? Why is he sleeping on my bed curled up in my arms enjoying affection, but seeking out corners of my bedroom during the day? Why isn't he harassing me for breakfast biscuits but enjoying wet food at night? Why did he not jump off the bed this morning but purred with alacrity and ate with relish a plate of wet food on the bed? Is he healthy but turning into a spoiled monkey? Very worried, but setting it aside until Monday when he (and a stool sample) will be reviewed by vet. Please everyone do a little zoom we need collective zoomies!

Best of feline luck for Monday, I'll be thinking of you both 💜

Lovely WoohCat has been to the vet and is absolutely fine: admittedly a bit sensitive when his spine was manipulated gently; and his pot belly is exactly that: a pot belly!

What I asked vet to do today is full blood test as he enters his "senior" years past 7yo, to provide a health profile/baseline, and took a mature moment FTR that in the future if he has a mystery illness precipitating a rapid decline, I won't spend two thousand dollars on diagnostics (as I did with beloved treasured WoohCat1, and then she had to be euthanased) because I won't in the future pursue oncology or surgery, but will support him medically for comfort and trust my stewardship for end of life care. Loving and practical, I think (and also not relevant for hopefully a very long time.)

I *knew* WoohCat1 was dying at the time but I was pretty desperate and the lymphoma was untreatable anyway, and I knew it in my heart and, honestly, I should have just taken two days off work to be with her and love her, then let her go
